Sometimes the power button stops working - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a problem. Sometimes the power button stops working, it helps to press vol up and down after the power starts to work again. What's the problem?

Power button not working

Just recently my power button stopped working. I pushed the button to use my phone and it did nothing. For about five minutes pressing the power button did nothing. I had to press and hold up and power button to restart. Is working fine now but What I would like to know is why did this happen? How can I prevent something like this occurring?

I've noticed mine has done the same thing a couple of times since I've gotten it. In my case I think the phone hot boots, maybe you have the same case

Same issue but no case and it wasn't hot. I think it might be software related. Waiting a few minutes and holding the button for 30 seconds finally allowed it to boot.

I've experienced this just once with the same result. Power button + volume up resolved it.
I had same issue pre-root and vol up and power fixed the issue. No power button issue since.

hold the power button at the same time as holding volume up button.... hold both for a few seconds might take as long as 8 seconds
will put you in fastboot mode....(if it doesnt go into fastboot that way can hold power button until screen turns off then quickly hold volume up until fastboot comes on)
once in fastboot tap volume down twice (slowly allow a slight pause between presses) then pres the powere button and you will be in recovery

I can't even get my phone to the fastboot screen. Ive held down vol up and power. Vol down and power. All 3. I'm really at a loss. Any ideas before I just get a replacement? Also, my headphone jack has seemed to stop working along with my power button.

Exit boot screen

hi
i recently updated the firmware on my device and when i rebooted it, it didn't go into fast boot. I have tried holding the power button for 30 secs to 1 min but the strange thing is, i am able to change the volume and at one point I could tap the screen and hear keypad noises. i can also access the storage on my computer.
any ideas to exit this?
thanks
Try holding power button and volume up for about 30 seconds or so. When the screen goes dark to reboot, let go of those buttons and just hold volume down. Don't let go until the bootloader screen appears.
If it didn't work, it means you either pressed vol down too late, or let go of it too early. Just try again.
This usually works when folks have issues getting into bootloader.
I fixed it by holding the power button in then pressing the screen. I guess I hit shutdown

Phone not turning on

Tried every power volume button combinations, still not turning on. If you press and hold power button or Power +Volume Up button only htc logo appears and goes away after few seconds.
and in fastboot mode or recovery mode I don't know what it is said which appears by holding Power + Volume Down, nothing happens if I press power button on 'fastboot','Recovery','Show Barcode'
Help me to turn this thing on without factory reset please.
This same phone recently turned off and I managed to turn it on by charging via laptop and Volume up+Power .

HELP...Z1c Strange issue. Can Anybody Pls Help URGENT!!!

Hi Friends...:crying:
My Xperia Z1c Phone was good but dont know what happen to it "Power button Stopped Working" all of a sudden.
Phone Problem are:
1) Power Button Not Working
2) Power button function shifted to Volume up key
3) whenever i press volume up key.. volume increases but at the same time power button function activates...i mean it asks for power off, restart,profiles,screenshot... just like power button functions. both power button and volume up key runs when volume up key is pressed.
4) i am unable to turn off my phone... so i had to turn off my phone by pressing volume up key. even it gets turn off it restarts itself. i believe there is some Hardware problem.??
5) when i press and hold volume up key for 3 yo 4 sec it vibrates 3 times and gets turn off just like we do it by pressing the small button next to sim slot.
i think this is strange hardware problem... anybody got solution for this Problem or i need to take my phone to Local repair shop..?
Please help me.......:crying:

Question Black screen but still working. How to shutdown phone

Hi,
My Pixel 6 Pro screen went black, but I can still hear and feel that the phone is working. I used the volume up + power button to reboot it and now I touch the phone and I feel it vibrate as it's registering the touches. I also see at the bottom of the screen some white stripes flashing. It seems that the screen is damaged and I need a replacement screen.
Now my issue is that I can't seem to turn it off. As the screen is black, the only way to shut it down would be with hardware keys. But up until now, I haven't been able to figure out a way to turn the phone off.
Does anyone know how I can turn of the phone?
To replace the screen, obviously I need to turn it off first...
Usually long pressing the power button, but it may be different. As long as it gets fixed within a month or so it you can let it discharge until it auto shuts down. If more than a year old replacing the battery when repaired is a good idea anyway...
I tried long pressing the power button with no luck.
I tried volume down + power button for 20 seconds, didn't work either.
I tried volume up + power button for 20 seconds, this I think reboots the phone.

Power button only might take 20 or so seconds.
Otherwise just like it sit until repaired.
Power button + vol up + vol down. Keep holding down once you feel the phone vibrate. Takes you to the bootloader screen
The battery died.. so that's good!
Thanks anyways
