I've looked around for answers for a while but never found any answers. Does this phone support nfc? I love using it on my nexus 7 and miss being able to send pics and whatnot to it with my phone. Its in the options in literom but its greyd out.

it is believed the chip is present in our phones, however there is no driver for the nfc chip so if it does exist - it's still useless
That's dumb. I like samsung but they tend to be lazy somethimes.

That's great news, but unless I read it wrong, it appears that this will not benefit our phone as the Qualcomm SDK will only support S4 chips and beyond.
Well that's just chitty lol

Does anyone know if nfc works on this rom?....I remember seeing it under settings when I was using the inception rom but I was unable to activate it.
And if so where do I find it as it isn't under the wifi/data settings

Afaik, the glide doesn't have an nfc chip. Although i'd be delighted to be wrong.
Yeah I believe it does.....it just wasn't able to be activated before but supposedly under ics its supposed to work...I just can't seem to find it anymore since I just flashed the new stock ics rom

I do not believe the glide has nfc.

The at&t and rogers glides are identical hardware. Wikipedia does not list the glide as having nfc and niether did a couple other spec lists that I encountered on my quick google. In this situation, i'd chalk it up to an oversight in the creation of inception. Once again, i'd love to be wrong though.
Weird because I saw it in a few places.....

This is just one of the sites where I saw them talk about nfc.....which is the little stickie thing behind the battery cover I think

I've chatted to samsung about nfc and they have told me that nfc is not on our device any1 been able to use nfc on our captivate glide yet?

Please search the forums before starting new threads like this. Also, do you think Samsung would lie to you about that?

And you be respectful

I have seen on a few sites that it does indeed have it...but hey who knows not like the internet ever lies or anything.
That was taken I believe from gsmarena

I think there was a version for Europe that was supposed to have it, don't know if it ever came out though.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
Yeah our Glide definitely doesn't have it, I've seen some sites list it, but it's incorrect. I don't have any source to back this up but will look.
Isn't that little square thing behind the battery for nfc?

I've not once, ever, used NFC. I guess I never saw the point when I could just assign a widget or navkey to accomplish the same task.
Used it at McDonalds at time or two.

Nfc, air gesture, screen mirroring, WiFi connect and all the Samsung stuff... Slow motion on the camera app? Yeah twice...

There's practically nothing on AOSP that could be considered useless. There really isn't any added features besides photosphere. I guess NFC could be considered useless but its one of those things that when the time comes you'll be glad you have it. Photosphere, I used a couple times but it doesn't work too well with the galaxy nexus average camera quality.

If you don't buy other things with NFC you will not use it.

No, there is plenty of uses. I pair my Bluetooth speakers and headset with NFC in under 3 seconds. I also share pictures with my less than tech savvy friends using the touch to share feature. I have also seen a couple ads with a NFC tag that give you a free song.

I guess I misread what you said, I thought you meant if you don't use NFC for purchases then there is no other use for it.

Ive never used CM profiles. I also never OC or UV.
I like the idea of nfc, but haven't used it yet. MHI, or hdmi I don't think I would ever use. Maybe miracast, but it will probably be years before it is widely implemented.

The front facing camera.
Beamed from my Maguro.
My wife actually has an NFC enabled phone but we still rarely, if ever, use it. Even if we're sitting right next to each other, I still just email or text stuff to her so she can get at it on her phone. I'm sure it might be worth it in some use cases, or for some people, but I've never used it.
Bluetooth! Gotta say, I have never used it.

Never used Wifi hotspot, NFC, Data Usage cycle, Talkback and other Accessibility settings...
I have a Sprint GNEX.
I've read how the phone is supposed to trim when its idle for blah long and charging, and other stuff but I am just curious myself to see when it actually trims.
Is there anyway I can see this? Logcats? (I dont have any experience with logcats)
Thanks!!
BTW: 4.3 IS SO SMOOTH ERMAGERD

Please keep bumping, and it has it. I promise

Lol sorry this is not what I meant. Trust me, I'm a strong believer and supporter of it. It has made my phone feel brand new.
Just the curiosity in me wants to see the specific times that the trim function is called.
