I came across this interesting app/tweak.
It's supposed to be universal, I am downloading now and will update my finding. Anyone else tried this?

Read about it on Lifehacker, how's it working out for you?
This is pretty interesting, might give it a try.
Nice. Downloading to give a try. I thought I saw some devs talking about incorporating this into some ROMs?

Weird. So it could actually work on a TW ROM?

So has anyone tested this yet?
Tried it on cm9 (Shabby's latest nightly). Some things work, others don't and some will cause the script to hang. It looks like the build.prop tweaks applied and the init.d items copied to the appropriate folder, though I really can't notice a whole heaping difference myself so I don't know if they actually did anything, and the script itself ran out of the box. The not working list looks to consist of things that probably just need a little E4GT love from our devs to button everything up straight. And (at least for me) installing the Smart Stay app froze the whole process but after a reboot I found that it installed the app.
Just my .02¢, others could probably give a much better run down but I just wanted to play with it so it only seemed right to share what I noticed.
Props to the Dev and OP. I'm very fond of this idea, and thankful it was shared.
UPDATED: OK so I got bored and tried it on PA 2.16 and got a little better luck (ie didn't freeze once and actually installed everything I had selected.)
I'm also on PA and it doesn't cripple anything, but I don't see a very dramatic difference in much of the overall operation. I was hoping it'd help battery life but it seems no different. The Sony music player is kind of cool, and the CPU governors seem to kick in. I guess one would have to really dig in to see the difference. But I'm stoked on this kind of mod coming out.

Another update: I've tried it on aosp jb and ics and touchwiz ics. Still no huge differences anywhere on any rom but it's useful to add beats and a file manager on roms that dont have one out of the box amongst other things. I hope to see this come out of development strong as it's a nice concept
I've noticed more steady battery life.

Which tweaks did you use, if you remember? Ver 2.0 has had a small improvement over the original so maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention. I must say the update alone makes this worth trying once.

Just installed this.. The installation went well.. Going to give it a few cycles to see some results

This seems promising. I can't speak to any battery life improvement yet but the phone does feel snappier.
I installed v2 and here is my find running few tweaks.
Browser seems a bit faster
Touch input seems more accurate and responsive
Battery is hard to tell but maybe added 30mins extra screen on time
I flashed sony music and beats, but I can't find them... not sure whats up lol
Regardless, everything seems a bit more responsive?
Smartstay is quite handy. Especially for pron

Sounds like a bad install towards the end. Ive noticed I have much better luck using it after I've already booted into the ROM for a few minutes. Just reboot recovery, pimp, and reboot

I've only ever gotten the Awesome Beats app from Pimp my Rom, which is just a modded DSP manager. The Sony apps are a music player and gallery, which are pretty nicely polished, with quite a few addons for them. What is this acid audio app you mentioned? Not that I'm doubting you, I've just never run across it so I'd like to check it out.

As this may pertain to samsungs internel hardware, i just wanna confirm if anyone on these launchers on this phone has experinces this little jitter lag when you scroll thru homescreens..seems as if when you swipe the screen stutters and doesnt move to the next one..also when u scroll fast thru homescreens it does this..if there is a fix please direct me to it..its so annoying when i cant find anyone talking about this.. Thanks
I used my friends phone on Apex and Nova and it didnt stutter at all.... and besides, its a dual core processor Snapdragon™ just powering a launcher, i dont think lags would occur. Even if they would, i find it minimal.
EDIT: my friend's phne is the intl version with the Exynos 4412 Quad so i dont know if it applies to ya. You could try flashing MPEngine™ 12SE because the script minimized lags on my phone clocked at 184-921MhZ
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
A stutter here and there isn't abnormal. If you are getting stuttering on almost every transition, that definitely isn't normal.
Assuming you are running stock, you might want to consider a custom ROM which tend to be smoother. You could also try just rooting and playing with your CPU clock settings.

Thanks guys..i been runnin custom roms and launchers since day one.dnt knw what could cause it..maybe ppl dont notice it..it isnt lag really it seems like sometimes it seems like it doesnt make a complete transition idk its weird..gs2 after ics update had the same issue
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Try changing the animation and transition speed. Lower the number, faster it is. Also, if that doesn't work you can try disabling hw overlays. All those are under Developer Options. Here are my settings on Paranoid Android, but i use the same settings for any ROM i run (i did not disable hw overlay, but there's the option)
I think it may be with the hardware..its more of lil stutters in transition pages than lag..havent seen samsung addresss it thou :/
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I'm on Apex, no issues at all. Make sure if on Apex the setting "Use Alpha Effect" is disabled in the Home screen Settings.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Yea i did..that makes it lag more..its just weird i done had almost every android phone but cannot figure this little jitter tw scrolling bug out..maybe im too ocd lol.

I've been on TSF Launcher for 5 months now. No lag whatsoever.
Expensive, but we'll worth the money IMHO.

Animation and trasnition speed are the first thing I did. haven't noticed much lag on Apex.
I've been trying to run an AOSP ROM as my daily driver, but there's a big problem with all that I've tried (CM10.1, SlimBean, MROM, etc).
The all have a noticeable input lag. Basically, I'll touch an app and it won't accept the touch and open for a little under half a second after I touched it. I also think this might be called "touch latency" by some.
This is a weird problem, because all of the Touchwiz ROMs I've tried (including heavily themed ones) have no lag at all for me. Because of that, I'm sure this is a software problem for my phone with AOSP. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
I have used several different ROMs and never ran in to this problem. Maybe try liquid smooth and see if it is still present there.

Have you tried different kernals? I've heard some people with lag issues having them resolved with new kernals.
Just my two cents, hope they're worth something

What are things you've noticed so far in the alpha/beta builds of Android 4.3?
As of 8/10,
- (Cosmetic) I like the addition to the LTE signal. On cm10.2, the 4G icon has been replaced by "LTE". (Does not apply to SlimRom.)
- Device appears to be much, much smoother and consistent.
- AOSP keyboard no longer opens a window to save a word to the dictionary. It just does it once you hit save. (This one is a big plus for me.)
- LTE, while speeds haven't necessarily matched my Touchwiz experience, I can safely state that LTE, even with slower speeds than Touchwiz is loading pictures/videos a lot faster. It's much more noticeable how LTE connectivity has improved when going to a 4.3 rom on this device.
- Required to enable root via developer settings prior to using any application that requires root access. (This is a security feature but for someone that flashes ROMs on nearly a daily basis, it can become a bit tedious since it's just an extra step.)

Things are loading faster on LTE even with slower speeds? Interesting! Is your ping lower or something? I need to try a 4.3 ROM tonight.

Speedtest results yield ~10mbps in most instances but the overall browsing experience is much smoother. Perhaps something with the routing and such.

Some people have mentioned that there is a battery drain in early builds. Is this still true?

After two hours and 36 minutes of screen time, I'm at 89%. Been on 4G LTE the entire time.
Edit: I do have a 3000 mAh battery, though!
Battery has been great on slim it's also noticeably faster than 4.2 ... Camera is buggy as !-!311, that's really the only thing wrong with it though... My friend did just send me a file to flash to fix the camera, haven't flashed it yet so idk if it'll work or not

Really digging the aosp implementation of dialer completion. It's spot on! CM10.2 feels noticeable quicker than CM10.1. That's just from my p.o.v. though.

4.3 is running pretty smooth. Had it running about a week and really only issues are the damn camera... but that's not too big of a deal. I rarely use it anyway.

Is camera still buggy? what exactly is buggy about it? I havent tried an AOSP rom in like 6-8 months because first time I flased one my sd card got corrupt. I believe it is formatted correctly to where IT wont happen now and thinking about finally making the switch since touchwiz development has kind of slowed down recently and im starting to get bored. Main thing keeping me on touchwiz was the camera. I take a lot of pictures. Are there any other issues that would keep me from using an AOSP ROM as a daily driver? Bluetooth issues, random reboots, freezes ect...
I never had the luck of running a 4.3 build perfectly. Phone ended up crashing and getting stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 boot screen.
Latest carbon runs quite fine 8-29 nightly. However, I noticed Bluetooth doesn't appear in the toggles nor can you enable torch in the power widget. Anyone know a work around to fix this?
On AOSP 4.4 ROMs I get way worse benchmarks than I do on TW 4.4 ROMs. But no matter what I do, I always have choppy performance and insane lag on any ROM I try for this phone. I know it's relatively old but shouldn't it be a little more efficient than this? If anyone can think of anything I can do to make the performance better, I'm open for suggestions.

that's crazy, I've had this phone since it came out, and never had any lag on any rom. Do you have GPS running all the time or many apps running in the background?

I turn GPS off whenever I don't need it and I stop all running processes at least twice per hour. I'm on my second S3 and I still get lags and stutters no matter what I'm doing, and the benchmarks on AOSP ROMs are so small and I know this phone can do better than that cause the TW benchmarks are so much higher.
