[Q] I can't get in the recovery mode

Hi there.
I'm new with all these. I have a R800i on wich I want to install the Gin2JellyBean Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631144)
When I go to the service menu of my Xplay, I can read the message "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes", so I suppose I have my bootloader LOCKED, so I followed the corresponding tutorial on the link above for locked bootloaders:
- I already installed the firmware .058v2 as said with no problems. All perfect.
- I rooted it via doomlord's root kit with no probelms too.
- Then I installed the x-parts app from the market and with it I itinstalled CWM with no problems.
- Now, following the tutorial, I should get in the recovery menu, but it doesn't work. I press the button on the x-parts app and the Xplay reboots, but to the main system again, not to the recovery. As I saw in a Youtube video, I tried to press repeatedly the Back button when the "Sony Ericsson" message appears while booting but again nothing happens, I get back to the system.
So, what can I do? What I'm doing wrong?
Have you tried Vol. Down instead of back when the led turns blue???

EDITED. Read my next message please.
Ok, I uninstalled CWM v7 and installed v5 as some people say they did and it worked, I have been able to get in the recovery mode and cleared the cache partition.
Now I don't now what to do in the nest step to nstall Gin2JellyBean, it says "6 - Download Gin2JellyBean Rom And Flash it with ClockWorkMod". How I do this? I don't see an option for flashing ROMs on CWM. O__o
Aaand ok I managed how to do it.
I finally have installed Gin2JellyBean.
I think some of those tutorials need to explain better some things...
Thanks to all who read this.

Problem with Recovery Mode (CWM) after rooting (Xperia Arc S)

Hi everyone,
Before criticizing me for posting this thread please note that I've spent a lot of time googling and trying to find a solution.
Before I begin I want to mention that I'm pretty new to android system. I learned few basics today but must admit I'm a noob. I've had my Xperia Arc S for a while now, but decided to root it (got annoyed with all restrictions + bloadware). But to the point.
After few hours I successfully unlocked bootloader and rooted my device. It's been 7 hours now and I'm really stuck. Finally I decided to get help from you guys - I'm just fed up with it.
Here's my problem:
At the first place I had Android 2.3.4 [4.0.2.a.0.62]. Found out that this version is hard to unlock and root, so I downgraded it to 4.0.2.a.0.42 (which apparently was easier to achieve what I wanted).
Then I followed the guide how to unlock bootloader - succeeded.
Later I used OneClickRoot to root my device - also succeeded.
Now the problem begins - I've read this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592104
Tried to install CWM using Rom Manager - failed as I got the message that my LT18i is not supported. Instead I installed X-Parts and using it I installed CWM. Seems it all went fine but I can't access Recovery Mode - and seriously I tried everything: volume up, volume down, hold, pressing few times, tried even with back and menu button. I also tried "Reboot to recovery" option in X-Parts - still no result.
I downloaded SE Extreme Tweak and installed CWM using this program but still nothing.
As far as I know to install new ROM I need an access to Recovery Menu. I want to install Stock ROM 2.3.4 [4.0.2.a.0.62] (the one I had before) and remove unnecessary bloatware.
Any suggestions guys? How to fix that Recovery Mode problem?
My device details:
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
LT18i
Android version: 2.3.4
Buld number: 4.0.2.A.0.42
Thanks for any help!

Have you tried flashing a custom kernel? As far as I know, they come with recovery pre-installed. I'd suggest you give the following a go. Should definitely work for you.

Thanks for reply. Well the thing is - maybe it's a bit silly reason - that I love the favourites widget in 2.3.4. As far as I know this widget is not available in any other versions - even custom ROM's....
edit: Sorry just noticed that it's actually "fixed" version of stock Kernel. Thanks, will try to give it a go then
Are these similar to what you're looking for?

I'm sure Google Play has a lot of what you want.
The first one is. I used it before - need to use Go Launcher with it though, which I didn't really like :/
The one I'm talking about is called "favorites and call log widget" (sorry apparently as a new user I can't post outside links to show you what I'm exactly after)
@ MarcSinger
thanks again for trying to help, I've read the post, however it still requires to boot the phone in recovery mode, which I'm not able to do
Any other suggestions guys?
Guys I sorted it out!!
I unrooted the phone (don't know if this helped), rooted again, then found this app "5.0.2.7-nAa-r2 Auto-Installer", installed it on my device and installed CWM from there. Now I can access Recovery Mode. Finally I can carry on with flashing ROM. Will try to install what MarcSinger posted.

If your bootloader is unlocked then simply flash a kernel with CWM, no need to install it via the apps.

Glad I could help, good luck!
u solved it yourslef, lol.
this app is cwm-auto-installer. i always use it after rooted to install cwm though i flashed the custom kernel had cwm pre-installed.
2 cwm is just better for me, i dont know why but i use lupusv14 kernel, in kernel's cwm, it doesnt do the action "advance restore" like restore system only, so i return to manual cwm to do this

sr, i just seen this notif. maybe cwm was not installed actually, though these apps (xpart, rommanager, recovery...) said is was completed. i think these apps cannot install by ifself (if i remember exactly, cuz a long time ago n i dont use arc anymore). so u must use cwm-auto-installer app, install this app, open it then tap 3rd line to install cwm inside this app. i always do that after root (though i use kernel have cwm preinstalled).
after that, when u power on ur phone, ull see green led light which means u have cwm already n able to access cwm by pressing volume (-) when that led light appear, through that moment u cant access anymore n must reboot to try again. or easier u can use [ndr utils] app, have all reboot option.

If you have an unlocked bootloader just flash a kernel with CWM on it, why go through all the trouble to use CWM auto installer if it doesn't work for you?
You could also try connecting your phone with your computer, make sure you have adb drivers installed and adb turned on in developers settings on your phone , then just type in this command within a terminal: adb reboot recovery .
Please Note that this solution does not mean you haven't got recovery installed on your phone, so this one might fail.!
Have you guys tried holding power + camera? I once had a recovery installed which used the camera button to enter recovery
Also do not press the power button for to long or your phone might just restart and doesn't have the time to boot in recovery, so start up holding volume down or up and press power, realease the power after like 7 seconds , (can't remember how long it really was so experiment.... )

[Q] Xperia S doesn't boot

Hi all,
Before I had CM10 installed on my LT26i. Then I have installed the prerooted JellyBean software from DoomLorD. The phone started lagging a lot after a while, I had a factory reset on it a few days ago. When I tried to install my apps&data back which I have backed up from Titanium backup app an error occured. And it was saying the phone needs to be restarted. I did, but now the phone doesn't boot. After xperia logo it starts bootingg just for a few seconds and then freees and turns off. I can't get into recovery mode. Tried to have it on fastboot on Windows 8, but it says unknown device.
What procedure I should follow now ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

if i were u, i will re-lock the bootloader and save your phone with update service
update service will probably put your phone into .200 rom
then flash it to .211 rom yourself and root it with the doomlord kit

Fixed! Thanks a lot!
Did u have correct drivers installed on Windows 8?

go back to stock

I´ve got a Moto G5 16/2 european version with unlocked bootloader and root.
Now an update asks for reboot, if I do that it will send me to twrp and did not boot the rom.
When I put power + volume down it will reboot normally but asks everytime for reboot to install the update.
The questions is: how can I go back to full stock rom and get the update, root not needed anymore, ist there a how to
available and how can I find a stock for 16/2?

Why would u update with root it's clearly gonna cause problems
that´s why I ask for go back to stock (without root) before update it
Update message appears couple of times per day, if you don´t look at it correctly it will do the update, also after a restart I´m on a bootloop

I told u not too

Weird recovery of a crashed 8 pro.

Popping in to give some feedback as always with my stuff.
Last night while using lucky patcher something must have happened it didn't like because I lost my wallpaper and my call history, at that point I figured she needed a restart. This brought me too a boot that would crash 40 seconds later and boot into whatever it was explaining boot issues
I tried clearing cache in the stock recovery but that didn't help
So I wiped the system settings only
Phone restarted as a fresh phone and is running great! First thing I did was look for and launch majisk, it needed to install some stuff but the damn think came back fully rooted!!!
So if all else fails wipe system in factory recovery.
It saved me a good bit of time unlocking bootloader and all that jazz
Hope it helps someone else when they get to a loop
Merry Christmas all

You can do a full Factory Reset and remain rooted. Since the boot.img is patched and flashed to your device. A full reset wont lock your bootloader too.
Only if you use MSM Tool or relock the bootloader manually (and flash a non rooted boot img beforehand) you relock your device.
