I bought a SGY for my daughter and since buying it, I have flashed it with Jellyblast v3 rom that was famous around 4 months ago. A lot has happened since then and now I am looking for a better rom or tweaks.
Anyway, the phone is getting slower and slower. I am looking for something simple and good for my daughter to use. I do not have time to test with all these roms one by one and then patch some kernels and then some tweak and so on.
I would be very grateful if someone can provide some guidance on what is the best rom, kernel, tweak combo to use right now. Stability and fast is most important.
Stock rom is good for you.

after latest the froyo update i found my phone to lag considerably so i did some research into rooting as i have heard it mentioned time and time again. my phone is working a lot smoother now.
i have to admit this is completely new to me so im not sure how to get the best out of my rooted device. can anyone give me any tips of how to get the best out of it bearing in mind im not the most tech literate. i had read about a lot of people installing OCLF which i have done then testing perfomance on quadrant. I have read about some ppl scoring over 2000 on this but i only scored 1890. Im not sure what this score means but is there any reason for that and are there ways of improving the performance.
Also what is the easiest way of clearing out idle files which are wasting space in the background. is there an app to help do this and if so how do you know which files are safe to delete.
are there any apps you recommend - so far ive downloaded adfree, apptoSD, OCLF, titanium back up, start up cleaner.
Quadrant means nothing, smoothness is more important than score in a single benchmarking application. Installing a custom rom based on js3 or jpy would be your best bet, with a custom kernel and voodoo or speedmod lagfix.
Sorry I haven't got time to explain further but that's because I'm in bed on my phone! Hope this helps!

thanks for your reply. Im absolutely clueless when it comes to roms. How do you know what rom to choose and what differences do they make to the phone compared to the existing rom?
will they prevent you from updating to other android systems in the future etc?
sorry for not having a clue
Anyone?

There are a handful of great ROMS to choose from.
Darkyy's is a popular one and very fast and very stable.
It has its own thread so poke around and you'll find it.
There are pretty thorough instructions for how to install it there just read the instructions carefully.
People are generally very friendly and willing to help so you can always post questions and cries for help there as well.
That's just one ROM and one opinion tho.
With flashing you need a little patience and have to do some research. Almost all questions you might have have likely been asked and answered before.
Who knows? You may find no need to flash anything but OFC.... except maybe recovery and a lagfix.
Good luck.

Please excuse my ignorance. I am looking to root my phone soon & flash a new rom. I have previously done this about 3x with my Cappy so I'm only a semi-noob. Anyhow I'm looking for input as far as which rom to use. On my wish list is full sPen support & multi-view (all apps not just the att ones), followed by good battery life & maybe the dropbox thing. Don't want to lose lte support our any of that. I am thinking it's between clean rom & Jedi. Please send me your input. Thanks!

All of the ROMs on here have full compliment of features your looking for. Ya just gotta try them all till ya find what suits your individual needs

Jedi and CleanRom both come highly recommended. As you try each rom, you will find quirks with each development. Personally, the [ROM][12/5][N7105XXDLK7 4.1.2] International Stock has be the best rom for my needs. Strangely, the main problem I have with that ROM is that the Adobe Flash doesn't work. Otherwise it's been great.
Easy fix with flash just google jelly bean flash and will lead u to a post on here where u download it straight to the phone but make sure u have unknown sources checked

We have a lot of great developers on here. Like others have said, read the comments on specific roms and just try them out for yourself.
Why don't you TRY both then decide which one you want to use as your main Rom. Any thread like this is very opinionated and everyone has their own taste for things and discredit certain devs because they don't have this or that in their roms. I'd say just try a few different ones because you may not even end up with Jedi or CleanRom at then end of the day.
I used to be the same type of user...trying to ask someone what's the "BEST" rom to use. After flashing and trying several ROMs on my own, I'd agree with the others and say that try them out for yourself. You will have a different experience from the next person. So far the GN2 ROMs I have tried have been very stable so I'd say it comes down to which one you like better.
Sounds good. I'm really not that picky except I want those few items mentioned above. The minor details I don't care much about. Lol Of course I read these 'hello I've bricked my phone' threads and they scare me a tiny bit. But I know as long as I stick with the proven winners specifically for att version I should be fine. Just have to find the time to do it all. Can anyone help me with that? Lmao

I've tried both and they are both very good. They are different types of Roms so read on the features for each and make a decision. You can't go wrong either way.
Just flashed Jedi X6 and it seems very good i'll post more once i've run it longer
CR with the latest Perseus kernel is very nice. Straightforward and easy install. Good developer communication. I recommend it!

Try a few, mate. Different people have different preferences, and you're, no doubt, going to get varied/several suggestions to your question and are going to be as confused as you were BEFORE you posed that question.
As I say mate its not my phone so I cant have enough time to test all of them
So I thought maybe the guys will suggest something

Hi bro
At first for better speed You should Use Gb Roms
I Recommend Orginal XPERIA S Rom By Zohaib0001
And if it Bootloader is open I Recommend DooMKernel Bicause Thats verrry nice
In This Rom and Kernel HD Games were Lag free for me
Sorry for my English Language
No.
This is a good topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097137
Since a new topic has been opened...why not finish it instead of filling it up with the usual garbage which helps nobody.
He has already stated its not his phone and cant try them all out.
If your not going to be helpful...stay quiet, simple.
Like said above, GB roms will give best reliability and good for games.
Personally I have tried quite a few GB roms and I recommend xgamer.
Despite the name i found it quite battery friendly.
I last used it on v1.8 and couldnt fault it.
GB doesnt look too pretty but it gets the job done!
There's a reason for forum rules, in this case, to stop petty arguments regarding roms/devs. Everybody on XDA was a newb at one point and most follow the rules. There are no 'bad' roms or 'best' roms, anyone can read a rom thread and find out from the feedback on that thread which rom they like.
i had a htc amaze and i had a stock rom that was better than the stock rom it had better battery and ran faster i just got a samsung note 2 t889 from tmobile and need a good rom i have rooted it and have a recovery on it just need to know what the best rom is stock with better battery and can run fast with verry little problems i do not care if it is 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 just what will run really good with good battery life thanks

First, i am going to assume someone will complain about this posts location...
Second, that’s a hard question to answer... No phone is created the same... So you will find many times a ROM will run perfect for one user, and just so so for the next... Its really all about you... What works best... Taking the time to flash and drive a ROM for a few days is always the best option...
That said, Tweaked 2.1 found here is by far the best Touchwiz based ROMs... It doesn’t rely on Aroma... What it does have in Aroma are all nice, clean mods that work the first time... On top of that... Tweaked Aroma works a little differently... You can set it once, it makes a backup of your preferred installs... And keeps it... That way next time you flash, you don’t need to do Aroma all over again... All of the work to the ROM itself are done with actual coding, making it far slimmer than the rest...
If you flash it the right way, it’s a onetime flash... Go be happy sort of ROM...
PLEASE, for the love of god... Do NOT take this as me bashing other ROMs... This is just my preference and thoughts... If anyone has a different point of view, SUPER RAD for you... Don’t get all bent over a barrel about my stance...
Look my friend, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but this in no way development so should not be in this section. There is a section labeled Q and A for questions.
Having said that these what ROM threads end up getting locked because they're pointless and end up in bickering and arguing.
There are like 10 current ROMs. Just read them and some peeps comments. When you find one that sound good, make a backup and flash it. If it isn't what you want restore your backup.
One last tip the 4.2.2 (AOSP) will have the most bugs and from what I've read worst battery life. So focus on the TW based ROMs. I went ahead and reported this thread so it can be moved before you very flamed. Please just pay attention where you post on the future
Ps I second tweaked

I thorough enjoy Jedi master 14. It has great battery life, speed and quite a few features and themes. It also has Wifi calling which is very nice to have on tmobile.
Also, please take this to the Q and A section. Better yet, we should report this so the mods move it. We don't need another one of these threads opened.
I hope this helps bud!

Hello everyone,
I'm an oldschool ROM flasher, and I've honestly gotten tired of Flashing now (I have flashed my good share of ROMs).
I also haven't been on XDA forum for a whileeee.. so I'm a little outdated as to what's out, and good.. although I have looked a bit.
So overall.. getting to the point..
I want to what the most stable STOCK looking rom is (in your opinion) that I don't have to be flashing constantly and can just keep it on my phone for loooonnnnggggg with no bugs or almost none.. and fast.
And also name me another non-stock rom AOKP or AOSP etc etc.. that is like I described above.
Please,
and I will rep everyone as well.

Any of them in development are pretty well stable and good. Your preferences determine what's best for you.
