I am not a advance user of rooting phones, etc. I know how to do it by reading and watching the youtube videos. The deal that I have with my phone is that I am getting little to no service at all. Even in places where I know I should have 4 bars! Most of the time I can't even make phone calls. I have tried the *223 option and this doesn't work. I rooted with the revolutionary. I have android 2.3.3. Here is what my boot says:
VIVO_W XB SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.13.1002
RADIO-1.09.01.0622
eMMC-BOOT
APR 1, 2011, 18:34:39
Now is there a fix for this signal issue? Maybe an update for this device that I am missing. I just need it to get by until the end of the year! I just don't have $100 to fix this problem. Please help! I am stuck. I just need the signal to be fixed any maybe the app place to be updated.

.622 is a really old radio. Maybe try to flash a later one and see if that helps? Technically, if you flash the same radio you had before rooting, signal should be the same. With that said, some Roms (particularly Sense 4) display signal bars incorrectly. Best way to check signal would be to check the dbm value in About Phone.

I'd recommend the 0312 radio near the bottom of the post. DO NOT FLASH A CHINESE ONE!
Read the OP and you should be good to go.

Hello XDA members!
This is officially my first thread and folks I am in need of some help! Let me start off by letting everyone know, I have honestly done my best with searching for an answer on the forum and Google. Another thing is, I truly apologize for any inconvenience, if I make this thread in the wrong section of the forum or if this has been asked and solved already.
My whole goal is to take back my EVO 4G to my local Sprint store to either fix my 4G Antenna or get a refurbished Evo. If I luck up, I might get a substitution with a Evo 3D. That it is if there out of stock. I do have Asurion insurance and it has not exceeded the 90 day warranty the Evo 4G comes with from HTC.
Now on to the problem with the Evo 4G. I'm struggling to UNROOT and S-ON my Evo 4G from Revolutionary root. In my case, I'm no expert around this whole ordeal. I'm very familiar with rooting and friendly with guides. I've followed every guide that I came across, but still cannot S-ON my Evo 4G!
For those that would like to know when I boot into HBOOT I get the following:
SUPERSONIC EVT3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-2.16.0001
MICROP=041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.0808
MAR 8 2011, 17:02:15
*NOTE THAT "REVOLUTIONARY" NO LONGER SHOWS ON MY HBOOT SCREEN, ONCE I FLASHED AN S-ON IMAGE.
*NOTE THE DATE AND TIME ON MY HBOOT IS CLEARLY OUT OF DATE. IT SEEMS TO BE STUCK ON THAT TIME. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY, NOR DO I KNOW IF THIS COULD BE A FACTOR.
Folks I have tried just about everything that I can think of. I've downgraded my radio to see if it changed anything. (Nothing). I tried flashing different stock images to see if it changed anything. (Nothing). I tried running RUU's to see if that changed anything. (Nothing). I really don't know what's left for this bad boy. Is there any different way of changing the security flag on? adb, fastboot, terminal?
Any answers and help is greatly appreciated! Thanks and hope to get some feedback soon!
-Bruce

You need to downgrade your radio again to the 2.15.00.11.19 or earlier radio then flash the unrevoked forever s-on tool to get S-on.

The unrEVOked S-ON zip will only work on the unsigned 6.17 HBOOT, however. So, the steps you'll need to take are:
1) Flash custom recovery via PC36IMG (Amon_Ra v2.3 recommended)
2) Downgrade radio to 2.15.00.11.19 or older
3) Flash modded 6.17 HBOOT
4) Flash unrEVOked S-ON zip through recovery.
You should be S-ON at that point, and then finally you flash a stock ROM (4.54 recommended) to restore your device completely to stock.
Hey folks!
I apologize for the long reply back guys. I'm currently away on vacation and haven't had time to check out the forum.
I will definitely try all of the advice posted! Once again, thank you very much! I really do appreciate it. I will get back to the thread and let you know how everything goes as soon as I can! I'm sorry for any inconvience.

Isn't this in the stickies? If not, then it should be.

So I just got a refurb Inc because my old one broke. This one was running Stock 2.3.4 and I rooted it and put Cyanogenmod 7.2 on it. A lot of the times calls just won't go through, and for instant, yesterday I was at the shore (my friends had 3 iPhones and another had the same phone as me) and they all had signal, but I don't. My old Inc never had this problem. Here's my information:

Before I do anything, will flashing a new/old radio fix my issue? I want to make sure if I do, I know what radio to choose.
Thanks for all your help.
I've been doing some research and there's a lot of different radios for this phone, but are they compatible with Cyanogen?

Yes, radios are independent of the rom. You can also use evo 4g radios on the inc. You can get all radios here http://dinc.does-it.net/Radios/.
Hmmm....these don't have MD5s though...any experience with them?
Nevermind I see it, I'm rooted and I still have s-on and don't really know how to downgrade -_-
Simple. Follow this guide.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306400 (start at step 3)

I was attempting to downgrade and move back to complete stock (Rom, Recovery, S-On, all that)
and after flashing the stock recovery (i think) and rebooting, I lost all service connectivity.
I've since reflashed and re-rom'd a few times and am back to running CM9 and CWM
I've tried my SIM in another phone and i get service
I've also checked my APN's, should all be good.
When i go to Select a network operator it Searches for a minute or so and then says "Error while searching for networks"
Here is some info about my phone

Any Idea's? Or info someone would need to help?
How old is your Sim card? I heard that SIMs over 3 years old may not work with the latest radio, as such you might have to get a new sim card from T-Mobile.
Its pretty new...
Also, it worked just fine with CM9... it only stopped working when i went to downgrade.

You had CM9 before downgrading? that's confusing, normally you downgrade before rooting and don't bother with downgrading ever again. If it's radio specific you may need to clear the EFS cache.
I was kind of following a guide to return to stock, but i think i might of skipped a step and that's what messed it up....
Okay, so i cleared the EFS cache using this guide
But still no success
my best guess would be to flash the radio, if this won't work there may be something else damaged during your unrooting process. always read up and be double sure you understand the process when you are changing firmware (radio/spl/etc)

hboot, eh, prob not as all are same number.
as for radio, you could get significant increase on a certain one, every phone is different. I have been playing around with all of them
An infinite Loop
I am on Hboot 1.54
S-Off'd with rum runner.
I am also on windows 8.1 on my laptop.I normally wouldn't bother updating hboot. However,Fastboot will not work because of windows 8.1(and because of my hboot version..)So i need to update hboot. So I don't really know how to proceed..has a solution been found short of using another person's machine?
Edit:Not trying to hijack the thread. These issues just seem fairly related..

Thanks. I'm just going to follow the directions then. I hope I didn't misunderstand but hopefully I don't need to restore or reinstall a ROM. I don't mind restoring one.

Thanks

yes unfortunately v1.4 is sucking in the battery life department compared to v1.3, please flash v1.4.1 it is a test to see if it fixes this issue.
you are saying that it could be due to the radio?
perhaps trying v1.4.1 and the .10 radio would provide better results than the new .15 radio, sure as hell wouldn't be the first time Verizon OTA breaks **** or is worse.

I've been trying to unroot my phone today. It's time to take it in for an upgrade, and so I need to unroot and get it back to stock. I've been having a problem however when it comes to the PC36IMG.zip. I keep getting the error saying "Main version is older, update fail" and don't know what to do. I've tried several versions of the PC36IMG.zip much to no avail. If anyone could just spare a moment to help me out I'd be quite grateful. Here are the stats of my phone:
EVO 4G -

I rooted many moons ago using Unrevoked Forever, and hence ran the Unrevoked Forever Son zip to get S-ON instead of S-OFF. So the next step is just the PC36IMG. If any other information is needed, let me know. Thank you in advance, and I apologize if this is a noob question.
That information already looks stock. What is your software version? What file are you trying to flash? Any Gingerbread PC36IMG should work.

Software version is Android version correct? If so it is 4.1.1
The file I am trying to flash is the PC36IMG from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
But like I said, I keep getting that error. My phone currently has CM10 if that is at all relevant to anything. I just want it back stock, like it came shipped, so I don't have any hassles from Sprint people.

That's a really old one. You need a Gingerbread one. The latest one is for 4.67.651.3, I believe.
EDIT: The RUU would work too, but it'll require a Windows PC to run.

I have the M8, which is easily the best device I've ever owned. But if the EVO will hold you over, I'd wait for the next big device. The Snapdragon 805 is a beast.

Do I need a memory card installed to do anything? I can get to recovery without one in, would like to go back to factory and unroot. Thanks.
There is no RUU for you to run, particularly since you're S-on. There is a newer software update than what you have installed, but you'd need to reinstall the stock Android recovery and make sure you're using a fairly stock ROM. You can then take the update.
