Agreed, much better too take a shot then zoom in afterwards, less chance of blur etc
you are not right nokia n8 has a perfect digital zoom at video recording !!!! no blur!! very clear image!!!!
@mikemilos
Nothing can compare to optical zoom. Another point to note is that the N8 has a larger sensor and better optics. That's still the top dog when it comes to phone cameras.

The new Update sony ericsson is releasing for Xperia arc introduces Camera Zoom/Photo Zoom up to 2.62x i think. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1199597 for more information
Zoom funtion is working on new 4.0.A.2.368 but as stated above it is really blurred (and don't work in video mode).
Digital zoom is crap.
It's just taking the pixels in the middle (the zoomed area) and blowing them up.
You can't beat physics.
Video/picture samples on the new 4.0.A.2.368 build:

Is there some MOD to trigger the camera with dedicated button?

Is there a mod for the camera, to activated with the dedicated button that has the Xperia ARC?
Thanks.
(Sorry my english is not very good).

It should work already on stock...
via Sony Ericsson Xperia
Full-press the camera key for a bit longer until you get a little vibration, then camera app should launch after that.

[Q] Camera shutter release mapped to a physical button?

Hi guys,
I know this question has been asked in other threads about other devices but, is there the possibility of having the volume up button mapped as the shutter release for the camera when the camera is running on the HOX? Having a physical button for the camera shutter release is the one thing that I miss from my OLD Nokia N95 .
Thanks all!

Xperia Arc S camera

Good Morning. I have 2 Xperia Arc S.
I have a problem on my camera
1ST ARC S:
- Camera's focus mode doesn't work. It doesn't focus on anything. They told me to clean it but moving the cam to this phone. The phone got an error saying Camera not available.
2ND ARC S:
- Camera's autofocus works but when I turn to normal mode then select Landscape and Night Scene the camera turns blurdish at any angle. When going to Infinity in Video nor Photo mode it turns all blurdish how do I fix this? Thanks.
Hi !
Do you have a recovery ? Try wiping cache. Or flash CyberShot Camera Mod that you can find under Themes and Apps section (only for stock ICS).
You can also try to use any other camera application from PlayStore. It should work.
For the Night Scene, it's normal as Arc S camera give quite bad results in low light conditions (it deals with its ISO levels).
You can just use it for a static scene after seconds of focusing.
Hope I helped.
Cheers.

[Q] Camera and Flash focus

hello, as you know our phone doesnt focus like other phones (video of g3 for example: https://youtu.be/Au3zABq9bD4?t=110 )
do you know any camera app that will use the flash to focus and then take the picture? (instead of just using it to take the picture without ever focusing...).

well , u can use " lgcamera " app.. search on play store without spaces and quotes
thank you! it works... but not so well. i mean you have to keep pressing on the screen to focus (it doesnt do it automatically with the camera button) and after the first focus you have to press the AF symbol to make it autofocus again (with the flash ofc).
its not very good but i will use it in hard spots where its a must!
if anyone has anything else please share it!

Yeah it has this problem and is buggy and laggy , its pics aren't as good as stock etc etc.. But its the only one with flash assisted focus..
You can use focal. In focal you can turn on your flash in a flashlight mode, and then it lights permanently!
i use camera 360 for that! (many camera apps do what you say). the bad thing with that is that you will blind everyone xD
