A ParanoidAndroid Bootanimation [by me]

Here is a bootanimation I made for ParanoidAndroid 1.9.2+ ,this is my first animation I've made and I hope you like it
How to install this: well just drag it to system/media/ AND SET PERMISSIONS, or copy it into data/local and the set the permissions, I dont know if it's necessary there but I recommend you to, it will stay there through any nightly updates....incase you do a fullwipe
ONCE YOU DOWNLOADED IT DONT FORGET TO RENAME IT TO bootanimation.zip (this is useless info for other users but its prizeless for someone too)
Credits: ParanoidAndroid team for their wonderful work and the basic ground for me to build uppon.
And to despotovski01 for his bootanimation factory for me to push the bootanimation to system and for previewing the bootanimation on the computer

it looks really cool, I can't seem to get it to work though, I copied the file as indicated, to the directories mentioned but nothing, please help...

Do you get an error message when starting or is it just the normal bootanimation that shows up?
Did you have a bootanimation.zip at the system/media before you copied my animation?

Before anything thanks.
I had the bootanimation.zip file there, I renamed it before copying your animation, and what I got is the android bootanimation, not even the rom's bootanimation, no error msgs, no crashes.

Have you tried to take the bootanimation that already where there (stock or custom) away and put it on you sd card and then try to reboot your device? So it's only mine in system/media folder. AND have you changed the permissions to -rw-r--r--?

Yes I did and still nothing,but I have a question does the rw permission have to remain like that?(Because I can only do it to do certain things) ,if so how should I do it,sorry if it sounds too noob.

Yes the permissions have to stay like that, what file browser do you use? If es file explorer, you enable root mode in settings, mount r/w, go to the bootanimation, long press it, scroll down to permission, press it, do so all have read and the one at the top also have write.
If solid explorer just find bootanimation long press it, select permissions, and set all as read and the one at the top also at write

Ok, yes the problem was the permissions, I use total commander, it's under the file properties, by long pressing the bootanimation.zip file, thanks for your help it looks really cool!

tried to load this via instructions but could not get it to work.. Question: if I load the ZIP file through ROM Manager would that work?
Never mind.. Got it to work.. downloaded ZIP directly to my SD card and pulled from there instead of trying through drop box.. works like a champ!1 THANKS SO MUCH!!!

I will make it better when I have time, like taking away som of the falling pieces of the beans and so on when I have time, but school have just started so now it's a bit tight What's that you want me to work a bit more on?

NandRom~Blue Haven~HW Version 004

Hey guys i was thinking and thats not good,but anyway,i have this rom on my phone which is running JB,tweaked to the max,added a bunch of tweaks and themes to it,runs like butter and looks pretty,i also added a great mod that gives my OG internal 8GB instead of 1GB,anyway to the point,how many of you guys have Smelkus recovery and would flash a backup(nandroid) rom?

I have that recovery on my evo. But would that work on a different phone? But hell I will give it a shot.

I was told it would work as long as it was the same phone/recovery and have check MD5Sum unchecked in recovery.Ill upload it tonite and post it for you Evil,thanks for testing this for me.I'll need to figure out which folder holds my info that i stored on the nandroid,so i can delete it.Hell i guess i could delete my contacts and sign out of my gmail,then nandroid.Yea ill do that,ill link you sometime tomorrow Evil.

This works, I've restored my own nandroids across several shifts after having it replaced...heck, I've even seen people upload nandroids for debugging and the people who flash it have no issues at all

Yea i was talking to one of the devs from the Nexus forums and he was telling me that,also.I'm gonna upload it this morning and post it.
Edit:This will only be a test nandrom,im using mazdas AOKP rom as a base,which i added a few really effective JB tweaks and the reverse storage tweak and some themeing and added a few apps and other themes for CM10.I have this rom screaming,no lags,GPS works great,of course you know Mazda does great work anyway,so this rom already rocked before i touched it,(in the words of Mazda=Hahahahaha)

I added some tweaks to the rom:
CrossBreeder:This is a new take at Android GUI lag reduction. It's lightweight and won't consume battery. Users have reported drastic improvements in usability and even benchmark scores. It can work on any Android device from Froyo to Gingerbread to Honeycomb to ICS and Jellybean. Modern OSs show lesser improvement but it's still quite noticeable.
This is a combination of 3 different methodologies to reduce Android lag due to low entropy.
1. Change wakeup threshold kernel parameters ala KAK.
2. Run an external entropy filler ala Seeder. The whole OS reads either /dev/random or /dev/urandom and both need entropy. However this mod uses a completely different, lightweight and efficient random number generator called Havege . This sharply reduces cpu consumption and corresponding battery life loss compared to Seeder. It also does a better job at keeping entropy levels high hence your device is more responsive. It doesn't run in a CPU intensive loop either.
3. Remove /dev/random as it's blocking. Link it to non-blocking /dev/urandom. Since /dev/random is blocking and designed to protect us from Quantum alien cryptographers with mathematical certainty and urandom is non blocking pseudo-random device that most apps and OSs are using anyway. Pre ICS devices have a lot to gain with this but ICS+ devices show visible gains too.

5)Boot into home screen and log into your google account and sync accounts.
6)Do 1 final boot and your golden.

Different ROM

I figured flashing it would make more of the 16 GB available but it didnt. I wiped everything and all the bloatware is gone. Why does it still show less than 2 GB?

You need to be a lot more specific as to what you did, which rom are you using now
and which rom you used before you noticed this storage issue.

I was using the stock Rom and it said 1.2 gb free of internal storage, I flashed the cyanogenmod mod nightly and wiped everything and it still shows 1.17 gb free.
As you can see nothing is using the memory.
I'm confused as to whether the 9 gb of available memory is a permanent thing, I thought it was a thing from the stock Rom with the bloatware.

I deleted a clockwork mod folder and it cleared 7gb.
I'm not sure why it took up that much space. But I'm still wondering why it only gives 9gb and not 16 on cyanogenmod

I know exactly what took up all that space, it was your many backups of your rom which you made in Rom Manager or in
CWM recovery.

I made one backup. I'm not sure that one backup should take up that amount of memory.

This is the same question I was asking... I don't think you can access the 9 gigs of space that Samsung uses. It seems like a separate partition unless I'm wrong.... And I hope I am.

Samsung's partition which is used for the rom is shared by the user memory.
You can access all of the phone including the rom partition once your phone is
rooted and you install a root capable file manager like root explorer.
There are many different ones at the play store to choose from.
But I think Root Explorer is by far the best and easiest to use.

Since you seem to know everything where does the other 7 gb go?
I don't think cyanogenmod is the same size as the stock Rom with the bloatware.

Haha what a wise @ss! People are chiming in trying to help you understand your phone's memory partition.
Someone already told you... your CWM back ups took up the space. The rest if for you to find out. If your device is rooted you can free up space.

Obviously you're the wise ass because you couldn't figure out that I've fixed that issue.
I'm wondering about the 7 gb that works make my phone the 16 GBP as advertised. Not what's in my picture in my previous post.

CM10.x rom is a lot smaller than the stock rom. They are between 300MB to 400MB including GAPPS.
Stock roms are at least 1.6BGB and custom roms can range from 900MB to 1.2GB.
If you have root access which I don't know if you do, use a file manager like root explorer
and navigate to "/" which is the ROOT directory of the phone.
There you will see a 4-5 screenfulls of of folders and a lot of files in the / root directory
Most of those folders and files are various different parts of the rom on the root of the phone.
Some of the folders are simply shortcuts and virtual locations to the /sdcard and external sdcard.
To be able see all those protected root locations with the folders and files the phone must be rooted.

See the other thread you're already posting in about this. I've answered you there.
Edit: to further clarify, loading a different ROM doesn't change the partitions (unless noted). You'll still have the same partition size for apps on one ROM as you will another. Debloating won't shift the 'free' space from one partition to another.

First off the phone doesn't really have 16 GB storage, regardless of all the bloatware Samsung has, the phone has no more than 12 GB internal storage, and 2+ gigs is taken by the system partition. The only way to reclaim that would be if someone made a tool to re-partition the system size like they did for the HTC HD2 but I doubt it's going to be a easy task. So until then, even installing Cyanogenmod doesn't reclaim the space at all.

Happens on SlimBean 7 [4.2.2] by besttt, I'm sure it's a small line or something on some file, but I just want that thing to say "SD Card" as it should, instead of what it says now.. Any ideas about how to fix that?

Yeah, I'm running the ROM on my Ray and it's the exact same story for me!

Well you can try to change the name of your sd card
Connect with pc and right click on sd card and rename.Thats the logical one,but if that doesn't work you cand try formating and just befor formating change name on setting of formation window.Hope this works cheers

Nah, you can't change it.. Uhh it's a ROM problem, not an sdcard problem, I'm waiting for an actual developer to look at this, Q&A doesn't reach the eyes of developers? :l I'm so sure the answer for this (and possible fix) is simpler than it looks.. It must be a single line at some text file, idk..

Nah, you can't change it.. Uhh it's a ROM problem, not an sdcard problem, I'm waiting for an actual developer to look at this, Q&A doesn't reach the eyes of developers? :l I'm so sure the answer for this (and possible fix) is simpler than it looks.. It must be a single line at some text file, idk..

I decompiled the framework opened storagelist.xml from xml folder... In that file you can see that sd card gets pointed to a string puk_ enter_pin something instead of storage_sd like in other framework... That must be the reason...

please i dont have time to look for solution i post here 2 diferent rar the one is from final slim with the problem enter pin code but everything good with 3.4.60 kernel and the other rar has the storage xml and the vold with all ok and no problem mtp enter pin code but not suport latest kernel above 3,4.53 sd card does not work only with older kernels you have to edit if you want my dear friend the 3,4,53 kernels rar old files who no problems with some changes from my new who has the entr pin code problem iam very happy if you help us to make that rom perfect

So you basically want the newer kernel to have sdcard mount point as storage/sdcard0 rather than storage/primary/legacy... Correct? If yes it can be done...

no i want the older method kernel storage xml list to get the same acces from new storage xml list who works with new kernel i want the files from my rom to have corect acces sd card at newr kernel

its easy my friend at my rom the framework resolution apk and the vold.fstab use the old acces sd card method 3.4.53 kernel max the other rar has the acces method at newr kernels 3.4.60 i want my framework resolution apk and the vold.stafb to get the newest acces sd card
and more simple if i dont touch from my rom now the storage list and vold does not have at all acces to sd card with new kernels
new kernels acces sd card method to my old framework res and vold.fstab who plays only with old kernels sd card acces method just changed sd card method to new at my old files

Storage Problem

I generally load custom ROM on my note2 and recently ( dont exactly remember when did happen) I found it out that I have Total Space 10.36GB.... I have searched every folder and tried to factory reset or install new ROM but still my missing storage does not come back. How can I restore missing to storage to reach 16GB.

If u r on android 4.1.2 or earlier, yes it is. The balance is used for some hidden system files. 10.36gb is the space u can use for your data nd apps.
But if u r on 4.3 then I dunno, coz mine is showing 16gb total space.

Well...sure right now it is 4.3 but even when I did install 4.1.2 still storage is same... I guess something that I have done when I was installing one of the recent ROMs went wrong. I have accidentally deleted or partitioned current storage. Problem is I dont know how to revert or reset the storage back to 16GB.

Flash the pit file for n7100 via odin.

I did your recommendation but still all same....10.4 GB
I have used PIT_N7100_16GB_20121102.pit this file via ODIN...

Does this 10.4 gb includes the memory space used by Android system?

same over here, and i am on cm 10.2
on total space i have 10.46gb
and when i go to root /storage, i have the folder emulated, which is a exact copy of sdcard0
sdcard1 is the external sd card
this happens since the first time i flashed a 4.3, no matter which rom, in 4.1.2 this didn't happen to me
i've tried all wipes, and the emulated folder doesn't go away

looks like i found the cause of this
the "legacy" or "emulated" and the odd "0" folder is because of multiuser support. even though phones didn't enable the multi-user support the folder structure remains for consistency.

Mine is also showing Total Space of 16 GB (ROM DN3.1.1) and System Memory takes 5.54 GB...
Therefore available space for other uses is 10.46 GB... perhaps in 4.1.2 the system memory usage is not shown/taken into account

you wont get 16gb. 5gb ++ are for system files.

Illusion ROM. Latest version 200+MB. AOSP lol.
P.S. I wiped everything (Mega wipe(data/cache/dalvik/system))

i'm using cm, about 170mb, so yeah...pretty weird, that it takes 5gb...idk

Ah.. i'm not sure about AOSP
I haven't tried any of those roms..

If i remember correctly,in 4.1.2 storage available shown was 10-11 Gb and system memory wasn't included in it which accounted for 5 Gb+,but now in 4.3 it is included thats why storage says 16 Gb which also includes 5.54 Gb used by system memory.So in both the user memory available is still 10 Gb+.If you are getting this much memory then its good if its less than that there may be some problem.
The device includes 16 Gb emmc,if the whole 16 Gb becomes available to user,then I m sure the device doesn't contain android os

U can't compare aosp with tw.
Tw is samsung based rom, a modified android for samsung device.
From the look nd apps installed u can see alrd. Aosp is really like those google phone look.
For tw rom, it is a norm to have around 3-5gb, depending on the phone model. So u can't say explanation is invalid.
