I flashed that ROM last night also...
Had that problem last night after restoring my paranoid android backup.
I did a full wipe. Cache, dalvik, system, factory reset and than restored my backup and it went away.
Something in that flash stuck around after a wipe. I was really freaked out last night. I never flash tw ROMs and that made me want to never again...

Just flash a d2can rom. Should fix your problem. Ports are not always reliable and it may not "like" your phones hardware.

You can always go the long way and it may help. Wipe everything from custom recovery (system, data, cache, dalvik, internal sd card) and then go into download mode and ODIN back to stock. Factory reset then proceed to rooting and installing as you wish.

I tried but I still get the same problem. Maybe Im doing something wrong. I put the phone in download mode, open Odin, plug it in, click PDA, choose the stock I got from the SamMobile site, and it runs completely but then gets stuck on reboot at the Samsung logo still.
go into stock recovery by powering on the phone while holding home and volume up, then choose the option to wipe cache, then reboot.
Agreed. I had a similar issue the other day. I ended up wiping cache in samsung recovery, and if that doesn't work, wipe data factory reset. I tried rebooting, but it still got stuck at the samsung logo. I then flashed CWM recovery or TWRP recovery through ODIN and then download another rom. Do a factory reset within the new recovery / wipe cache/ wipe dalvik/ wipe system/ and then flash the new rom. That will get it to boot.
Moral of the story is to not freak out too much. You're not in trouble.

OMG I need help!!

I once tried flashing a Sprint note 2 rom to my phone because I was under the impression that all lte variants worked together. Long story short I restored my nandroid and that was bootlooping also. So I flashed stock via odin and everything was all good. Now I went to flash PA from the att forums and It started bootlooping again, so i reflashed the stock rom via odin and its still bootlooping Idk what to do I tried everything. I always wipe and even format system when flashing but it still doesnt help.
Never mind I got it to boot by wiping data and cache in the stock recovery, but why cant i no longer flash anything without it severly bootlooping? Sometimes itll boot but just keeps soft-rebooting as soon as it does.

What rom did you try to flash ? Try TeshXX stock + root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055474 flash via CWM o see you can go through with CWM.
Is it themodem possibly?
I would try flashing a rom thats made for tmobile and c if it will work then go from there

You have to be careful when using different roms. I know when this phone first came out a few people tried flashing a different rom I think for one of the international models and it wiped out there imei and modem and everything. Just check first with the rom dev or someone here that knows what they are talking about. Also I think whoever asked if it is the modem could possibly be on to something because lately I noticed that some devs are incorporating the modem in their roms. I dont know why but they do. They used to never do that . So you should read the thread and the changelogs and rom features before flashing. But an odin back to stock should fix everything unless you screwed up your imie. I don't think odin can fix that but I could be wrong. Anyway bottom line is ask and read thoroughly.

Twrp problems

hello. yesterday i decided to go ahead and flash miui. this is what i did:
-made a nandroid backup of my current rom (liquidsmooth 2.2)
-factory reset
-flash miui
-flash gapps
-wipe cache and dalvik cache
it worked perfectly, but i didnt like miui so i wanted to go back to liquidsmooth. so i did this
-factory reset (successful)
-restore nandroid of liquidsmooth (successful)
this worked fine but when i rebooted it got stuck on a black screen, so i pulled the battery and tried again but it was the same.
then i went into recovery and did a factory reset. but this time it failed! so i restored liquidsmooth without wiping and it was successful, but then when i rebooted everything was force closing.
finally i went into recovery again and did a factory reset and it worked ok, then i restored liquid smooth again and it worked ok too. i rebooted and everything seems to be ok now.
now im scared to flash any roms. is the problem twrp or liquidsmooth? everything worked properly when i installed miui. i did some research and it looks like restore fails are common, but i couldnt find anything about wipe fails. is this normal?
thanks in advance

Cannot boot S4 after custom ROM flashes

My T-Mobile Galaxy s4 M919 will not boot after any custom ROM flashes. I tried 4 different ROMs with success messages. As soon as I reboot my phone after the ROM flash, it's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and would not enter the "phone desktop". I can easily enter download mode and recovery mode without any issue.
Background: I rooted with Odin successfully. (Used both CWM and OUDHS with the same no-boot results after flashing any custom ROMs). I can restore back to stock and phone boot up fine but tried root again and then with custom ROM and it would not boot. Any help would appreciate it.

I did that after each ROM flash. 1. Wipe data/factory reset, 2. wipe cache part, 3. wipe dalvik cache. Did not fix the problem. No good. Please clarify "possibly even data". I am not sure which wipe is that.

using CWM:
*wipe data/factory reset
*wipe cache
*wipe, dalvik cache
*wipe system
*wipe sdcard (only if you have the ROMs you plan on flashing on your external sdcard, this will erase internal sd)
now flash your ROM of choice. reboot (will take 1-2min on first boot)
use cwm touch. what ROMs have you tried so far?
I am thinking you are flashing something not specific to the TMo S4, so your not getting the right kernel installed. Try installing a TMo specific kernel immediately after flashing a rom and see what happens.
Yeah, what ROMs have you tried already? Have you tried TWRP 2.5 recovery?
Sometimes it'll take up to 10 minutes to boot up (I haven't experienced this yet with the GS4, but I have with other phones). How long did you wait before determining it was just stuck?
I switched to PhilZ Touch Recovery a couple of weeks ago and have not had Any issues as I did before.
TWRP 2.5.0.2 was issue free for months, until I started flashing ROMs with Aroma.
Nothing but issues re Samsung splash screen freezes, different solutions working sometimes and sometimes not, having to ODIN back to stock on many occasions, having to wipe INTERNAL SD on many occasions, etc., etc.
PhilZ was the solution.
This is coming from a hard core TWRP guy......
Check the link in Red in my sig for PhilZ and other good stuff

Okay let's start over from scratch.
First off can you restore the stock ROM using your nandroid backup?
Second, I don't think you are properly wiping everything prior to flashing the new ROM. You need to wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache in the CWM wipe menu prior to flashing the new ROM.
Wipe all 4 things. Wiping any less than all 4 things will cause the problems you are experiencing.
Once you've done that, then flash the ROM.zip and reboot and it should work just fine.

When I was flashing ROMs w/Aroma using TWRP 2.5.0.2, I would sometimes get Samsung boot screen freezes. The only way I could resolve this was by wiping Internal SD, in addition to the other wipes mentioned, and flashing the ROM again.
find stock kernel, flash the roms you want and flash the stock kernel after and see if you boot

ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware.
Boot.
ODIN Custom Recovery.
(I use PhilZ Touch Recovery. Flashes ROMs flawlessly )
Boot.
Flash custom ROM afterwards.
If ROM doesn't have Root, then Root with CF-AUTO-ROOT by Chainfire via ODIN prior to installing Custom Recovery.
Then flash custom ROM.

I have no idea why it ain't working for you.
On the plus side, I don't know everything
If you ODINd Stock.
ODINd Recovery.
Did a Md5 Checksum match between the ROM file and your Download.
Wiped Internal SD.
Flashed the ROM......
and you're still having issues.......
I'm at a loss....
Try again is my only suggestion, and insure the steps taken are correct, including ODINing the proper files for your device.
Check & Double check
Including making sure you have a good usb cable, which sometimes can work and sometimes not....
If you haven't, try flashing from internal sd card. Maybe remove th external sd card just in case.

After Factory Reset, Phone is Slow as Hell - HELP!!

I'm rooted on my Galaxy S3. Last month I made a backup through TWRP recovery. Yesterday when I restored to the backup, the restore wasnt complete. I tried to restore again and I encountered the same incomplete restore. My customized settings in the apps were gone and some of the apps I had backed up weren't included in the restore. Looks like something got messed up.
I then wiped cache, Dalvik, data and system. I even formatted the phone. I also did a factory reset. This messed up my phone so I installed a new rooted stock rom. So now, the phone is slow as hell and apps arent very responsive. Everything is laggy and slow. And the play store and youtube have slow connection speeds.
What should I do to fix this stupidity??
Did you try restoring a stock ROM via Odin?
I had the same thing happen before. Odin with a stock rom is all that fixed it for me.

Yes I did. But Playstore downloading speed and wifi speed are slow as hell. What do you suggest?
Are you downloading over WiFi or cellular data network? The phone is running the latest rom without root? After flashing, you you immediately go to b recovery and do a full wipe?

This is really strange because a factory reset usually does the trick.
This may be a redundant question but was the phone flashed with the correct ROM? I see different variations of the T999 on sammobile.com's website.

Hi audit.. Its not a dumb question at all. The rom was the correct one for my phone. Everything was working fine up until a week ago. Its possible that my phone fell and maybe that caused damage maybe.
Not only that but restoring bsckups through TWRP doesnt yield perfect restores. All my restores have not been complete. Customized settings all returned to default and apps were rearramged differently.
Anyeay, just to make sure, how can I do a proper wipe without wiping out my custom settings and apps? Do I just wipe dalvik, cache and system?
You would wipe dalvik and cache only.
Wiping data wipes apps.
Wiping system wipes the rom.

I am not sure why that happens but I have used twrp on several phones, including the lg g2, nexus 4, note 3, htc one x, and Samsung tab without issue. Maybe you need to do a full wipe before restoring? Does the phone have the latest twrp?

Hi audit. Yes the phone has the latest TWRP. I downloaded it from the play store yesterday.
I got an important question. I backed up my rom a few days through TWRP as I said. Is it possible to open up the backup on my laptop and search for specific pics? I dont want to restore the rom, since as I stated, I have problems doing so. I just need to get those pics. Is this possible?
I am not sure but it is worth a try.
Humour me but is the twrp 2.8.7?
