I have tried to flash 5 different roms that are known to work and flash right but they all do the same thing on my phone which is hang at the Samsung screen and not boot. Im using the TWRP recovery with exfat support from the dev section. This is what ive tried....
Ive tried flashing from both internal and external sd . I never ever never dirty flash. I always wipe cache, dalvick, factory reset, and format system every time times 3.
Anyone have a clue why I cant flash anything?
Edit... I can restore nanandroid backups but cannot flash anything

Maybe try a different recovery and see if that's an issue

Did you say "format system"? You don't need to do that. That will wipe your entire OS. When you flash a ROM, it already wipes and replaces the system, so there's no need to format it beforehand. If you're doing it AFTER, then that's your problem. You SHOULD do the wipe cache, wipe Dalvik and factory reset after flashing though.

This is usually what I do when I flash a rom...
1. Wipe cache times 3
2. Wipe dalvick times 3
3. Factory reset times 3
4. Flash rom
5. Wipe cache
6. Wipe dalvick
7. Factory reset...
Thats my normal way I flash any rom even if the dev says just wipe caches. I dont never dirty flash...
Normally I dont format system because it should do that when you flash any rom if the updater script is wrote right. I just listed the things I tried so everyone would know and I thought well I tried everything else so I tried to format system just to see if it would work.
Im really starting to wonder if its the twrp Im using with the exfat support. Its not the official one on gooim its one a dev modded to work with exfat. And that would make sense but I cant flash from internal storage either but I can restore a nan backup from internal or external. ..

Okay then. I read "format system every time" so I was worried about that. I didn't notice that you have 1400+ posts, which implies that you have some experience.
Yes, trying a different recovery will help narrow down the problem (or fix it). Did you read through the status messages after flashing to make sure that everything looked okay?
Also, how long do you wait at the Samsung logo after flashing? Sometimes it takes a while (I think it took 10 minutes on my Tab 2 before - S3 is faster though).

Yea I have a little knowledge and usually dont ask questions cause normally i can figure it out on my own but this has me stumped.
I got no errors and twrp said flash successful every time. Wait time normally I give it 10 minutes but got aggravated last night and set the phone down and left there for 30 minutes or so and still stuck. And every rom ive tried has been a one known to boot with no problems. I read the threads to be sure.
Im gonna try flashing the twrp thru gooim when I get home just to see and if that dont work im gonna try cwm just to eliminate the recovery but I got a gut feeling its the recovery. I would like to get it fixed soon because im working on building a rom and cant flash it to test it.

Just to let everyone know in case anyone else ever has this issue I did finally flash a couple of roms. The only thing I can figure out is I was using rom manager to boot into recovery instead of the three button combo. Shortcuts never work when doing this kinda stuff and I should have known better
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I use ROM Manager to boot into recovery all the time, never had any issues with it (I don't like mashing the keys too frequently, I ran into issues with a stuck power button a bunch of times on my S2 Skyrocket and I assume it was from doing button combos).
If you run into further issues I'd recommend backing everything up to a pc, then do a full wipe, then format your internal and external sd cards in cwm to get rid of any bad data that might be causing this, and then get into download mode and use Odin to go back to stock (has to be Odin of course since formatting the sd cards would remove any roms or backups saved there).
This has worked for me when I've had weird, unexplainable things going on. It's a pain in the butt, but can be worth it if it makes things work properly.
PS -- This was seanz's suggested method for dealing with strange issues on the sr, as I'm sure you recall.

Thanks bud. I use Odin to go back stock and it didn't help but I didn't format the cards either though. Im using twrp and never had any issues with it but the official version dont support exfat. Has cwm started supporting exfat yet? Oh and can you fix cwm where it dont do blobs. They take up way to much room....

It's because you formatted your system and it has nothing to boot into now. A factory data reset should fix it.

If you have a cwm/twrp flashable rom on your internal/external sdcard or if you have
a nandroid back and if you still have access to get into CWM/TWRP recovery then
why not simply restore a backup or flash a rom?
If you don't have any backups or cwm/twrp flashable zip file roms in your phone
then simply remove the external sdcard and put it into an adaptor and plug it into
your computer, download a cwm/twrp flashable rom and copy it to the sdcard.
Then put the sdcard back in the phone, go into cwm/twrp recovery and flash it.
If you cannot get into cwm/twrp recovery for some god knows what reason you will need
to Odin flash the stock rom in download mode to get the phone running properly again.
Good luck with it!

Trying that as i type. Performed a wipe and reboot'd to DL mode for a stock odin flash. Not optimistic though
any reason why this WOULDNT work?
EDIT: No luck. Went past the samsung screen initially to android stock recovery to finish flash...once it rebooted back to stuck at samsung screen!
EDIT: SOLVED. checked Phone EFS Clear in ODIN...then flash stock. BREEZE
My T-Mobile Galaxy s4 M919 will not boot after any custom ROM flashes. I tried 4 different ROMs with success messages. As soon as I reboot my phone after the ROM flash, it's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and would not enter the "phone desktop". I can easily enter download mode and recovery mode without any issue.
Background: I rooted with Odin successfully. (Used both CWM and OUDHS with the same no-boot results after flashing any custom ROMs). I can restore back to stock and phone boot up fine but tried root again and then with custom ROM and it would not boot. Any help would appreciate it.

I did that after each ROM flash. 1. Wipe data/factory reset, 2. wipe cache part, 3. wipe dalvik cache. Did not fix the problem. No good. Please clarify "possibly even data". I am not sure which wipe is that.

using CWM:
*wipe data/factory reset
*wipe cache
*wipe, dalvik cache
*wipe system
*wipe sdcard (only if you have the ROMs you plan on flashing on your external sdcard, this will erase internal sd)
now flash your ROM of choice. reboot (will take 1-2min on first boot)
use cwm touch. what ROMs have you tried so far?
I am thinking you are flashing something not specific to the TMo S4, so your not getting the right kernel installed. Try installing a TMo specific kernel immediately after flashing a rom and see what happens.
Yeah, what ROMs have you tried already? Have you tried TWRP 2.5 recovery?
Sometimes it'll take up to 10 minutes to boot up (I haven't experienced this yet with the GS4, but I have with other phones). How long did you wait before determining it was just stuck?
I switched to PhilZ Touch Recovery a couple of weeks ago and have not had Any issues as I did before.
TWRP 2.5.0.2 was issue free for months, until I started flashing ROMs with Aroma.
Nothing but issues re Samsung splash screen freezes, different solutions working sometimes and sometimes not, having to ODIN back to stock on many occasions, having to wipe INTERNAL SD on many occasions, etc., etc.
PhilZ was the solution.
This is coming from a hard core TWRP guy......
Check the link in Red in my sig for PhilZ and other good stuff

Okay let's start over from scratch.
First off can you restore the stock ROM using your nandroid backup?
Second, I don't think you are properly wiping everything prior to flashing the new ROM. You need to wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache in the CWM wipe menu prior to flashing the new ROM.
Wipe all 4 things. Wiping any less than all 4 things will cause the problems you are experiencing.
Once you've done that, then flash the ROM.zip and reboot and it should work just fine.

When I was flashing ROMs w/Aroma using TWRP 2.5.0.2, I would sometimes get Samsung boot screen freezes. The only way I could resolve this was by wiping Internal SD, in addition to the other wipes mentioned, and flashing the ROM again.
find stock kernel, flash the roms you want and flash the stock kernel after and see if you boot

ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware.
Boot.
ODIN Custom Recovery.
(I use PhilZ Touch Recovery. Flashes ROMs flawlessly )
Boot.
Flash custom ROM afterwards.
If ROM doesn't have Root, then Root with CF-AUTO-ROOT by Chainfire via ODIN prior to installing Custom Recovery.
Then flash custom ROM.

I have no idea why it ain't working for you.
On the plus side, I don't know everything
If you ODINd Stock.
ODINd Recovery.
Did a Md5 Checksum match between the ROM file and your Download.
Wiped Internal SD.
Flashed the ROM......
and you're still having issues.......
I'm at a loss....
Try again is my only suggestion, and insure the steps taken are correct, including ODINing the proper files for your device.
Check & Double check
Including making sure you have a good usb cable, which sometimes can work and sometimes not....
If you haven't, try flashing from internal sd card. Maybe remove th external sd card just in case.
tried to flash gummy rom 4.4. afterwards phone gets stuck at samsung galaxy s4 screen and just hangs there.
reboot into recovery tried flashing a different rom, no go
wiped data cache davlik, fixed permissions, same result
tried latest twrp recovery - same result
tried latest cwm recovery - same result
tried philz recovery - same result
it was running aroma beforehand
any ideas, thanks for your help

sounds like a partition issue. Whihc if it is, just go ahead and attempt to odin to stock.
Try switching recoveries first tho. perhaps the one oyu have is borked

Try flashing the full stock firmware from sammobile; then boot into the stock recovery and do a full factory reset. If that doesn't work, then you may want to install a custom recovery and re-format (not wipe, but actually format) the data partition.
Ok will try that. After wiping the data partition what should i do?

I would boot into the complete stock system and see if you have any problems. If everything works fine when completely stock, then you can install a custom recovery and try some other roms.
Ok cool i really hope this works bud because I've tried everything even used twerp recovery to advance format system, data, cache and internal storage

Did you ever get this fixed?

I've flashed back to the stock fimware from sammobile and I still have errors and random rebooting. So I rooted with CWM ad did a full factory reset, still the same problems. I've re-formatted the data and the data/media (/sdcard) partition, still the same problem.

Even a completely stock system, I'm having problems. I've tried wiping everything (cache, dalvik ,data/factory reset ) then flashing back to the stock firmware using Odin3 v3.09, and I'm still getting errors and random rebooting.
Has my t210 bit the dust?
Seems like a lot of people are having trouble with the new updates. I would try to find an older version of the stock rom and load it thru Odin 3.7 and see if you still have the same problems.
Same thing I'm thinking but I still have hope
Did any of you all clear your cache and dalvik-cache as part of the flashing process?
The 4.4 ROM is an update to the stock 4.2. If you use a custom ROM, you will probably need to reflash stock 4.2 in order to flash 4.4.
But this tab never had 4.2 only 4.1 and I did a complete wipe before flashing anything

Here's what I would do then:
Reflash 4.1, then try 4.4. If that doesn't work, flash all three consecutively. Gotta test around to find out what works.

We have got a V4.2.2 Version, but this was ported from the Tab 3 sm-t110 lite.
Format and wipe all folders using none stock recovery like CWM this will empty all junk left behind
Should I erase all this everything I've included in the screenshot?
