For a while now I've been running a MIUI ROM without problems.
Today, the phone didn't want to wake up from sleep (tried using trackpad and power button).
I pulled the battery and started the phone back up but after the boot animation it went to black screen and wouldn't do anything from there.
I wiped cache and rebooted, went through the app checking but somewhere in the process crashed and went to black screen.
After several failed tries of pulling the battery and trying to reboot but only getting black screen, I did a full wipe and tried installing a new ROM but have not been able to boot into it.
According to the ROM installation everything went fine, but when I boot the phone up it starts trying to boot the MIUI boot animation then goes to black screen even though I did a full wipe and flashed a new ROM.
After doing various full wipes and sdcard formats, the phone doesn't seem to want to boot into anything even if I flash a rom, and recovery keeps loading up in Safe Mode due to a problem with /cache.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Went into recovery and wiped data, cache, dalvik then went to install Fresh 3.4.0.1. It was done installing and I gave it a reboot. At first I thought it was just the first time installing a rom that was making it take forever to boot up, but I fell asleep and just woke up, and that definitely wasn't the problem. It's still on the boot screen with the white background and black htc EVO 4G. I haven't been able to get into bootloader so far.
Any ideas?

I had a similar problem once. I would just get stuck at the splash screen no matter if i tried going into recovery or just normally booting up. What fixed it for me was to just take the battery out and leave it out for 5 minutes. Try putting it back in, booting into bootloader, then into recovery. From there try wiping everything and then installing Fresh again.
Also, make sure you are using Amon_RA recovery, as it correctly wipes everything.
yea try that what he said. take the battery n try it one more time n see if that works
I was on my phone, checking XDA, reading news and so forth. I put the phone down to grab some dinner. When I got back after eating I picked up my phone and it was unresponsive.
I held down the power button for a while and nothing.
I did a battery pull and I was able to boot to the Google splash screen with the unlock symbol. Unfortunately it just hung there.
I pulled the battery again, this time I booted in fastboot, then recovery. The clockworkmod recovery main menu came up in recovery, but when trying to do a restore or anything… The blue menu would disappear and not come back. I can get to recovery, but I am unable to do anything with it.
Last night I flashed to AOKP B26 from AOKP B25. I wiped cache and dalvik. I did not do a full wipe, but according to the dev you do not need to. This morning I flashed Morphic’s kernel TNP138-RD-FUV. I used this kernel on B25 with no issues for several days as well. I wiped cache and dalvik before flashing the kernel as well. CPU was set to the default 1190 and default voltages, with the on demand governor.
It is weird that I didn’t have any issues until hours later and the phone wasn’t even in use. It is as if it wiped itself. I am wondering how and why.
At this point I am going to do a full factory ODIN restore. I don’t think there are any other options.
EDIT, as posted below:
I was getting ready to do the ODIN restore when for the heck of it I decided to let it boot normally one last time. What do I have to lose.
I booted to the Google splash screen and set it down. I got a drink and took out the trash. When I came back I noticed it was at the boot animation! It sat at the boot animation for another couple of minutes but 10 minutes after pressing the power button I was booted up.
I let it sit for another 10 before I played with it. But now its like nothing ever happened. And it boots regularly now. I even booted into recovery and it is functioning as normal.
Any ideas what happened?

In cwm is there a 'go back' option at the bottom? If not scroll up and down a few times passing from bottom to top (looping) until it says like back button activated. If back is not active power button makes screen go off and on and does not select.
This is if you are not using touch enabled cwm.

if you can get into cwm then try fastboot and flash the factory images from the boot screen

I am not using the touch enabled. I know that if you cycle through the menu too much it will disable the select button, but if you keep cycling it will enable it. This isn't that.
The screen is on, I can see the clockworkmod recovery & version in the middle of the screen. Just the ICS blue menu disappears completely. no go back or anything. just a black screen with the clockworkmod info in the middle. It is as if its thinking but it just hangs.
id suggest you try to use ADB from recovery to try and at least pull the sdcard files first of all
second id try to flash another recovery from fastboot then boot to recovery and flash a rom or restore backup
if the above doesnt work then factory image from fastboot is it

Hi Guys.
So i flashed a few roms lately. started with EmotionMiUi then CM10, Omega, Alliance and well a few more.
i did a full wipe and cleared all caches each times and only had a few minor problems with the different ROMS that i was able to fix.
So i now returned to MiUi and have had it running for about a week. Tried some DPi modding yesterday, and did notice that it took longer time to boot and boot into recovery. i flashed the Xpose DPi remover, and continued using my phone. i have rebooted about 3 times today. And the last reboot caused the phone to enter the eternal "Samsung Galaxy Note II - N7100" boot static "animation".
Now i have tried pulling the battery several times, tried booting into recovery and the only thing that will let me boot into anything is power + home + volume down.
i have obtained the official samsung firmware ROM for my phone.
is my way ahead to "just" flash it using Odin, and i will have my good times back ?
Maybe try to clear Data and Cache partitions first?

Just to clear you're stuck at the start screen( the screen it shows Note 2 and model number)?
If so, then i have no clue
If your phone goes in a bootloop ( startscreen then samsung logo animation, blank screen, start screen, samsung logo animation...) I have faced this issue while flashing Stock ROMs and you can clear this by doing a factory reset though i have no clue whether this is the correct one for MIUI ROM.

i was stuck at the very first startscreen that just stayed there. i had been messing around with some DPi and a lot of tweaks.
i used Odin from my PC to flash the official firmware, then i used Philz recovery to format and clean before flashing my MiUi V5 ROM.
ALL works great.
So I have a rooted HTC desire HD with Jellytime on it. All was working great till recently when it would shut down by itself. Today after I wanted to test a new boot screen from Rom toolkit I restarted it and while the boot screen worked great after it finished I see a black screen (backlit so I know its on). I tried going to the bootloader but after I try to go to wipe cache for example it restarts by itself and it gets stuck after the boot screen... Any ideas?
ok an update seems that if I go to the recovery via down button and power it lets me do actions. All this time I went to recovery mode when phone was shut down and plugged into a power source. I did a wipe cache and now it says android is upgrading and now it finished saying starting apps. Hope it didnt get stuck there because it keeps doin the cycle animation but doesn't do anything else.. I ll leave it be for a bit like this... :/ Had to restart it by removing the battery after 20 minutes... same problem as before still...
another update... just before it goes to a black screen when the boot screen finishes an orange light appears just briefly (where the green light appears when it charges)
Wipe everything (system data cache) and install a stock-ish ROM. What happens?

I flashed the rom again and wiped data and all seem to be ok now. I ll update this because I saw many people have similar problems... thanks in advance for any help!
Have the same problem.
I bought this with the problem that it keeps rebooting all the time.
I unlock the bootloader with htcdev, root with Easy Ace Tool, flashed the new cyanogenmod 11,
but did the same .
At least 3-4 rebooting before open normally.
I said that it must be ROM issue and flashed the KK-LegacyCarbon-4.4.
Did the things should be...flash the ROM and then the boo.img separately.
Now i have black screen and the only screen i am able to get is bootloader and the recovery 4EXT.
I reflased cyanogenmod back but nothing happened, any thoughts???
Please bare with me, I'm trying to think of every possible detail for anyone to help me with this....
My brother gave me his Note 2 to "fix" because it was stuck in a boot loop and would randomly freeze. It was 100% stock, unrooted and less than a year old. The problem started when the phone auto-updated to 4.4.2. After investigating and tinkering around, I got it out of the boot loop (I just wiped the cache). Upon reboot, the phone would function normally for up to 90 seconds (approx) then freeze. The only way to unfreeze was to battery pull, holding the power button down didn't work. After repeating the reboot process several times I realized that each time it attempted to do a system update. I looked for a way to disable the auto-update feature and was unable to find it.
My next thought went to rooting and flashing a custom ROM. After all, if the problem was with the stock, flashing would fix that. I have rooted, installed philz recovery and flashed the Alliance ROM. I wiped all cache and booted her up. To my dismay, it's still freezing. I've gotten past the boot screen and am now freezing in different places on the "android is upgrading" screen. Each freeze causes me to have to battery pull and start over.
I am out of ideas. I would like to be able to fix this phone and put service on it. Thank you in advance for all help!

Make sure you are using philz recovery (6.07.9 recommended). You will need to wipe the internal sdcard. Go under mounts option and select wipe /data /data/media option then go to reboot menu and reboot recovery. Now install rom and see how if that works.

Thank you!
I wiped the internal SD. That enabled me to format the phone then install the Liquid Smooth ROM. So far so good. It's been 48 hours with no problems.
Thanks again for your help!
