[REQ] Xperia P firmware on Xperia S. - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Since Sony is ignorant about Xperia S, the users like me would have been very happy and grateful if someone ported the xperia p ROM onto xperia s.

Dude, it's not worth the work to port XP firmware to xs. Just wait for official release.

Just wait one more month...
It is worthless to do something that sony has been doing long time ago...

It's impossible to port JB. SXP has different core and GPU. Also resolution is diffrent. Wait to mid June and you will get JB(buy I think Sony won't release it)

Resolution must be the problem but not core and GPU am I right? Don't take me wrong. I want try to make ROM so that I am asking. XZ and XS, ION have different core and GPU but XZ firmware is ported to out devices. So I think we can do it but biggest problem is resolution. Am I right?
Sent from my LT28h using xda app-developers app

Yep.
However, xz does have more resolution.
I think, xs will get 3.4 kernel, unlike xp. Don't know if this is the prob.

Actually the only difference is in processor 1.5 and 1.7 GhZ. In terms of performance I see no big difference. But yes in XDA, Xperia S support is better than SL.
One more thing, I've seen many trying Xperia S firmware on SL and no complained so far. Except the name changed to lt26i rather than lt26ii
But still don't try it unless you are completely sure about it.

Clearly,Xperia T is superior than Acro S...but the T have some kinda 'washed off' screen based of users comparison...Acro S does have a great waterproof, but much older spec...

Well X Acro s has snapdragon s3 processor on the other hand XT has Snapdragon s4 plus, so definitely XT has better specs , both have 1 gb ram as well as 16 gb internal storage, but T has a 13 MP camera
Sent from my LT26w using xda premium
Ill be very honest. I have a ion and my wife has a T. There are no speed differences at all. Actually i prefer the ion due to not having the on screen buttons. The T does have a better speaker tho, her music sounds really nice. Otherwise even tho the T has the better processer, there no different.
Dont even talk about benchmarks as they mean nothing in day to day use and how the phone feels.
Im not familiar with the acro s....but isnt it similiar to the ion in terms of specs?

And the camera is no better than the ion and the S. Mp dont mean anything.
In fact some of my test shots showed the ion was better while other shots the t was better.
But neither proved enough difference for it to matter.

New Xperia S update coming in the form of 6.2.B.1.XX

Good news
Back in June, we reported of a new Sony Xperia S (LT26i) firmware update that was rumoured to arrive in early July. Well obviously that did not come to pass, but apparently a new update is still on the agenda for Xperia S/SL owners. Sony pretty much confirmed as much on the official support forums, saying that it will have build version number 6.2.B.1.XX. There’s no ETA for the update, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Sure they will...most of Xperia S users only think that Sony will only fix the problems in their phone (Xperia S) only because they (Sony) did reply and respond inside SXS forum...talk about typical Xperia S user that think of their own importance and forget about the others (Xperia SL,Acro S and ion)...
Sorry if my message is kind of a little rage message...I'm quite mad because some SXS user only think about only their phone's problem will be fixed

This update will well be the last update we are gonna be receiving.. Since Qualcomm have stopped work for S3 chipset devices.. We won't be getting official 4.2.2.. Same case like HTC One S.. Sad that Qualcomm too rejecting the good handsets.. Damn these companies..!!!!

Thanks for understanding.
And yes, this is keeping me away from flashing PROPER Custom ROMs, which means that some people (incl. me) will have to stick to 4.1.2 forever...
Envoyé depuis mon ONDA MID en utilisant Tapatalk 4 Beta
I actually prefer 4.1 ROMs on xs coz they're much more stable compared to 4.2. I have had battery issues with 4.2 ROMs on xs. Hope Sony release a faster, more stable and more efficient 4.1 rather than 4.2. Lets not forget xs runs on over 2 year old cpu.
[OT]My Wildfire S runs with CM10.1 nearly better than with Stock 2.3.5. But let's not forget it has a CPU that was already 2-3 years old when it was released (ARMv6 generation). [/OT]
Just saying...

But bro, if they give an update to 4.2.2, custom roms will obviously come good.. Atleast if they release sources, that would help devs to build a stable one soon.. But they don't.. And obviously i would choose custom rom over stock anytime.. And what XSP ROM(ported HTC) are u talkin bout bro??

Jelly Bean 4.4 For Sony Xperia S

What do you think are the chances are of Sony releasing jb 4.4 for our devices I mean our devices would be more than enough to handle it.
What do you guys think?
Would it still be possible even though Qualcomm has stopped support for S3 snapdragon chipsets?
None!

i think the same, there are no chance of getting android 4.4 kitkat.at the most we may get 4.2 or 4.3 jelly bean but there are only 2% chances :fingers-crossed: lets hope for the best.but we may get the taste of android 4.4 by great xda developers with less feature that depend on any new type of hardware
That's the weird thing 4.2 & 4.3 are said to be more hardware intensive than 4.4 and it is most unlikely we will get them for our devices.
Yet a lot of websites mention its likely that 4.4 will hit the Xperia family including the S.
What is also been said is 4.4 will or has been designed to run on aged out devices from:
512 RAM
Single low clock speed processors
And our phones come in the mid range of the Xperia family.
Which exceed the suggested minimum basic specs nneeded.
I wish Sony could just say yes or no wether it was possible as I don't want to upgrade as its only been 6 months since I got this device it's ggood but I was surprised how quickly this was shunned and newer devices came out from Sony.
When I see Z1 released with 4.2.2, 4.4 for XS is just a dream.
Sony must sell Z1 as new flagship and it certainly won't update and support 2011/12 device anymore.
I would like that, of course but that won't happen.
I'm trying to find unlockable Z1 in Croatia - I really like that device.

Hmm...
Screen isn't really bad it's great HD screen but some users reported that they have that stupid yellow tint over screen.
And that's extremely annoying from Sony.
I'll buy it but only and if I can check it first (I already arranged that).
There's great little piece of software for screen testing so I'll use that.

We may just get 4.4 if we ask letama or raymanFX kindly

you will receive even 5.0 if came out.. But stability may be problem.
Anyway, i am on the way to upgrade to Z1.
I believe 4.4 will come some time later.
Some expert in XDA will make it. But Sony wont
remember snapdragon has stopped supporting s3 cpu that's why there's no kernel for jb 4.2 and 4.3
yeah experts in XDA are making it now but i dont think sony cares about it
Our lovely Xperia S is now an orphan. Only users care about it
The performance can definietly do 4.2 4.3 or 4.4, but sony just want us to buy new phones
I saw this in some site.. Can someone translate this.. I think we may get 4.4.. :silly:

And, dude all the processors from Qualcomm since Snapdragon S3 are 64-bit capable.. But none of these devices got those drivers to support 64-bit capability.. Since Qualcomm itself are providing those drivers, they are using the marketing strategy to bring new processors with the name 64-bit processor.. U can pull the actual h/w info from the CPU itself.. If you don't have infinite stacks of money laying around, I seriously recommend you look at the Sony Xperia Z1.
The Z2 doesn't offer all that much more practicality than the Z1, and as I bought the Z1 just before the Z2 was released I don't regret my choice at all. It's super fast, has a great camera (essentially the same as the Z2 now that it has KitKat) and if I could choose a device again now, I'd still go for the Z1 over the Z2 for its pricetag.
Compared with the Xperia S, I even made a (surprisingly unpopular) video of it with annotations, where you can see the two devices side-by-side. If you want, you could check it out here:
http://youtu.be/IN1URlNHVWE
I'd appreciate any extra view on that video anyway
Hi Herman thank you for your opinion. See why I'm thinking z2 is because 1) its free on my upgrade and 2) its a slight improvement over the z1 but I was thinking if not z2 which other phone could I choose

If it's (as good as) free and you couldn't pick a cheaper contract with the Z1, then obviously the Z2 is the better choice
My point was that off-contract it's so much cheaper than it's much of an improvement, so like I said if cash isn't an issue then it's still a great device over the Z1 (and definitely so over the Xperia S, you won't regret it)!
