Hey ..was just looking at the spen how it functions and all that stuff got a new and my first trick n post for u all and its just amazing just go on reading and plzz contribute for me by thanking.
Ok now let me start ..
Soo now let me tell you how s pen actually works .
It's touches only when its nib is pressed by a force .if the nib is not pressed it simply means it is in air view mode .just observe it deeply.
Now you can use your spen for touching screen withought actually touching it yes..u read right . You can say it AIRTOUCH .
So to use airtouch feature just press the nib of your spen with finger or by sticking tape. On it just press the nib and keep it pressed and use it on the screen keeping ur pen in air u'll be suprised for sure.. its only for note2 and series ..
So now if u are done and got result just help me ..as am new n posting for first time ....
Your welcome..:silly:

Hi,
Am having a problem while using note 2 & 10.1 stylus. I encounter a problem while sketching using sketch book I saw there some areas that the pen not recognized well...I thought at 1st it might the touch screen not working probably but it turns the stylus sensor not working well in some areas in screen but when I touch it by hand it works in the same area that the pen not working well. In note 2 I have a half. Circle from the right-side screen to half of my screen which is sooooo annoying while drawing I have to drag the pic the other half screen to draw ,when I bought the phone it was only small line at the edges but after the last update it turns to a half circle. Now i have same problem with note 10.1 which it was working fine in couple of days :/ please help guys I don't know how to fix this.
I have other friends having different problem with stylus but not same as me. The 1st having a problem that the pen keep writing while it hovers at the screen & not touching it & the 2nd having problem with slowness in S Note while changing pen style or size. I really don't know if u guys having problem with ur notes phone while using stylus.
Thanks in advance & I really need ur assistance.
Solution for stylus sensor problem
After some searching I finally found a solution. It appears that the cover with magnetic attach will effect BADLY at stylus sensor & sensitivity. If anyone encounter with the same problem. Check ur cover if it's a magnetic then change it.

If it is kept cuz I already bought it and in fact it keeps the mobile well secured , will it decrease the screen sensitivity in the future ????

No but when the magnet is present it'll mess with the detection of the stylus.

Maybe faulty hardware.

When I got my note 2 the stylus worked fine but now when its hovering over the screen it will write on the screen! The attached picture shows what I mean. Only the word "Hello" was written with the stylus touching the screen the other marks are with the pen hovering over the screen.
I have noticed that it works fine if the stylus is close to the screen and only writes on the screen when its about 1cm away from it. This also has the effect that if you are trying to switch things off/on in the settings menus as you move the pen closer it will switch it over at 1cm and then switch it over again when you touch the screen. Does anybody know how to fix this short of doing a factory reset? (which i haven't tried yet).
Many thanks
Steve
Hi I'm just gonna relate to my experience with the note 1. I had the same issue with the s-pen and so did many at release just take it to your store and get one replaced. Its probably a defective pen.

I had same problem too..
I read on other thread, the easiest way to solve it is by flicking the S-Pen several time (or maybe hit it to hard surface carefully)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922533
This was my thread from way back.
There have also been others who are having the same issue, with their own threads.
Long story short, there is a miscalibration on the potentiometer of the pen. Some have said to give your pen a good slam on the desk, tip first.
Some say open the panel of the button and adjust something inside.
I took the easy route and went back to the Samsung store, and got a replacement pen.
No troubles so far.
Ive just tried another pen from a friend and that works fine. I'll set if I can get Amazon Germany to send me a replacement pen.
Thanks for all the quick replies.

Same issue with AT&T Note II -- one imagines they should test these things (or include spares or something)... Very frustrating.
Same here, but I thought it was normal behaviour. I got the phone from Vodafone UK.
Shall I ask for a replacement?
Samsung have sent me one no problem. You can either phone them or go through their contact us page. If you phone they want a receipt emailed but if you do it the other way they just want where you bought it from. Mines confirmed as sent with 5 to 10 days delivery

Fix S-Pen on Samsung Galaxy Note II/2 - writes when not touching screen
Tapping the pen will work, but it take a few attempts. Hold it by the back end and flick the tip end down onto the hard surface so as to not damage the plastic writing tip.
Also, note that the problem can be caused by a on-off sticking pen button. The pen button clips over a post and rocks on-and-off of a momentary switch which makes a click when depressed. Carefully pop out by getting under the depressable end (toward the writing tip end of the pen) and it will pop up and out. Clean out the area below, and around the momentary switch, thoroughly, perhaps with canned air, perhaps also with a careful wiping-out. (There's a switch lubricant or some sort of white stuff that's sometimes still present from manufacturing process, and I think maybe causes the switch to stick, or something which MIGHT contribute to problem -- anywho, cleaning it out is a needed issue I've seen on two out of three of these Note II devices I bought.) After cleaning Replace the button by first sliding in the tab-end, then snapping down the other end over the plastic cross bar (carefully!).
Test the button and make sure it presses the switch and clicks, then springs right back up easily.
.
OK, try it out.
Repeat the tip-tapping process a few more times if it's still acting up.
This process worked on both pens. Was actually quicker than screwing around with getting T-Mobile or Samsung to fix it for me. Have fun.
All you need to do is hit the tip of the pen on a table. A bit hard.
worked for me!
With the back, hit it lightly on the desk.
Hi,
Just got my GN2, ts amazing. But sth is wrong with my s pen, it navigates the screens without touching the screen and when I try to write a note, the pen keeps writing as if I didnt keep space. I wish someone understands my point. Ah another thing, for example if I enter the gallery and stops over an album, it will have the selection check and not displya some of the content. I tried my brother's pen and t worked just fine.
Plz help if this is a settings issue.
Thanks

This is not a settings problem. It sounds like your S-Pen is constantly "clicked". The pen nib is not releasing. It should move in and out about half a millimeter. Many claim banging it a hard surface helps. It's nothing I recommend. However applying and releasing pressure on the nib or even pulling gently on it.
If you don't dare do any of these things I suggest you take it back.
Love the galaxy note 2.
But one of the few things that annoy me is the button on the S Pen. It's far too low.
This means that u can't usefully use it for the 'back' shortcut or for 'screen capture'.
However, ive just noticed that if you spin the pen round about 90 degrees so the button is not being used by ur thumb, but by ur longest finger.... then the button is at the right height.
May not be useful for everyone.... but I found this useful so thought id share.
Neat ! Thanks

Hello,
I got Samsung Galaxy Note II since a week now and I noticed that the s-pen does not register the weakest (lightest) touch, like when I'm gliding with the pen over the screen (the pen's tip is touching the screen but barely). I'm used to very light touch, so when I'm drawing a line sometimes it does not register at all or there is some part of it missing.
Is this normal? Maybe I just need to learn to press it a bit harder. I found a lot theads about s-pen being too sensitive, maybe I need to calibrate it but the other way? Also I found some threads with the same question but no answer.
Regards,
Dragon
You can adjust the sensitivity by popping off the button on the side of the pen and turning the screw below it. Keep in mind that the way the s pen detects a touch is when the nib on the end is pushed in, so depending on how light you use it, increasing the sensitivity too much might cause false positives (registering touches when to pen isn't touching the screen)

Thank you for the reply D3_. That explains a lot. I guess I'm just pressing it too lightly. I will just have to get used to pressing it a bit harder.
You can still try adjusting the sensitivity, you might be able to find a sweet spot that works just right for you.

Read my post above (second post in this thread) on how to change your s-pen sensitivity. You probably don't need a new one.

How can you pop the button out?
And will it impact warranty?

Just got my note 2 today (YAY). The s-pen registers when I am barely touching the screen...how do I pop the button w/o breaking anything? Will this possibly change, or stay the same, on DN3?
