Is it possible to re-map the volume down button to volume up? My volume down button hardly ever works, probably like 1 in 50 times I try to boot into the bootloader it works. Not really a problem if I flash something and it works as I can just get to bootloader with adb or power menu but when something goes wrong and I'm stuck in a boot loop, it takes like 10 - 20 minutes to get back into the bootloader.
Cheers
Don't think its possible, inside a running os it could probably be done. But i don't think it works when you are in a bootloop or such. The buttons (also power button) are hardcoded....
Just hold the power button, no need to hold volume down to force reboot.

Not entirely true. Adb is occasionally available provided that the ROM boot animation is running.

I was stuck in the HTC logo. The ROM animation wouldn't even load. That's why I was hoping there would be a way to re map the keys...I'd tried adb with no luck. All good now though but good to know adb is functional on the ROM animation.

try holding down the home button along with the volume down button then press the power button...
I'm pretty sure the option to turn it off should be there, but just pull the battery and put it back in. Then try again.
Battery pull worked. Thanks.

Seriously did you even read the thread?
Anyone else having an intermittent issue with the device not waking up via the power button? This happens from time to time. Holding the power button will still reset the device. Plugging in a USB connection will wake. However hitting the power button yields no result. The device still responds to incoming notifications. Sometimes I can wait a few seconds and it will work properly. It's rather odd.

Isn't it a case of simply holding the power button, without touching the volume button?

U have to push power button and volume up button at the same time to work. And think: If an app lags and u can't get the screen working? U can't put out the battery. This is the only exit if u don't have any PC and USB cable.

Just did it and works fine. Simply hold the power button.
Although the ROM you are on possibly does not have it.

I've tried it only on Sense ROMs, but it also works with AOKP/CM9 I think.

Today I went into recovery mode to fix permissions because my phone was running funny. I used the cache wipe script and when i tried rebooting my phone it wouldn't turn on. I decided to take the battery out for a few minutes to see if that would help. It finally turned on but it is stuck on the boot animation. I have tried to get straight into recovery after trying to reboot it but it won't let me. Could someone please help me figure out what's wrong and how I can fix it?
Have you tried holding down both vol down + up and power button same time then releasing power button when the phone vibrates?

I've tried that and nothing. I can turn it on now but it gets stuck on the boot animation. I cant get into recovery.
Edit: Finally got it into recovery now I'm going to flash a backup i made yesterday. Thanks for the reply.
Hold the vol up and down with power button at the same time. Let it vibrate once and take finger off power button and once Samsung logo comes on take your fingers off the volume rocker.

Your going to have to reflash your custom ROM from your recovery menu
He most likely used TDJ's scripts on the newer CWM versions and borked his recovery. I've done the same thing with my device...
