4G works fine. Sadly that is in town, I live on the brink of the map with my carrier, luckily they have an upgrade coming this year that should give me 4G even at home.
Oh and this is in Sweden.

lol in case of LTE compatible phone, korean providers forcing you to use LTE only, as its more expensive.
Not sure if you can even switch LTE to HSDPAP without entering service menu.

I live in Denmark and I get between 13-72mbit download and 5-30 upload on 4G/LTE

wow u lucky is it expensive?
Sent from my LG-E975 using xda app-developers app

Oh yea it is!? If I browse the web with Chrome and 4G, I can almost watch the percentages just count down like a timer xD
But if I just use it for Facebook, twitter, 9Gag, xda etc then its more or less like with HSDPA+

Depends on your provider and what "you" think is expensive
I got the same stats and i pay 299kr ( about $60 ) and got 100gb data

See, it all depends on money
I got free call, free sms, free mms and 100gb data.
But every thing is also more expensive in denmark.

You think that's expensive, don't come to Canada!
About every "smartphone" has to come with a voice+Data plan of, at least, 50$Can (around 30 pound). But, most likely, for a basic 200min unl. nights/WE, call display and all that mumbo-jumbo and a lousy 1 Gb of data, you'll pay around 75$ can, almost 50 pound!...

Rogers doesn't always do things right, but their 6 GB SuperPlan definitely was:
* 200 daytime, unlimited nights/we starting 5pm
* unlimited Canada-wide SMS/MMS/calls to 10 numbers
* 6 GB data
* $60
Even adding call display and voicemail keeps it under $80 after taxes.
Bell has a similar $60 plan, but only 1 GB of data. $10 bumps it to 2 GB.
What sucks is that Rogers doesn't have LTE in my city, and no plans to bring it before 2014. The wife has LTE on Bell.

I have something similar with Telus
* 200 daytime, unlimited nights/we starting 6pm
* unlimited Canada-wide SMS/MMS
* unlimited Canada-wide calls to 10 numbers
* 6 GB data
for 65$
I added voicemail and caller display
With taxes and everything it cost me 82$ / month. I do have LTE in my cities (30mbps/10mbps here) but it drain battery too much so i only use HSPA+ (14mbps/1.5mbps). Fairly good offer.

[Q] tmobile $30 5gb plan (WalMart) throttled?

anyone here on the $30 5gb unlimited text 100 minutes plan?
is your data slow? 1-3mb? im in DFW and according to the speed test thread others are getting much higher speeds. someone reported 15mb+!
I was able to get this plan after a week of countless tmobile support reps, 4 walmarts, 5 sim cards and 2 tmobile stores...
I dont really want to get into the details but finally got the plan but i am noticing 3g speeds and not the 10mb+ 4g speeds i was expecting. Is this plan even though a "Monthly4g" plan limited to 3g speeds? I have the 4g icon and show umts or hspa in phone info screens...
anyone have similar results, or any ideas? I have had this issue on every ROM including stock. I plan to visit a tmobile after work to view instore phone side by side with mine and compare data speeds.
No insights to share, unfortunately, although do please keep us updated on your experience. I'm thinking of switching to this plan as well.
Not too shabby.
I'm on the 'Walmart' plan in SoCal and have been getting 7-15mbps for the most part.
im on it and have recieved up to 18mb
i got that plan. my data is really fast. i even use it for tethering
Should be excellent in that area. The last time I went out there I was getting 6mb speed tests on my Vibrant. From Arlington all the way out to White Settlement.
Didn't make it to check another set @TMO today but testing again from home (white rock lake area) still 1-3m... Same I get @work in Las Colinas. frustrating...

Pretty sure its throttled after you surpass 5gb
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I am aware of throttling after 5gb but that will be much lower than my current speeds (60k ish), plus I'm nowhere near that limit.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium

I like and saw this deal on walmart website, but sadly when i call walmart. They said they didn't offer this plan. Does all walmart offering this plan or it based on location?
I get anywhere from 500k - 13mb/s in DFW. I'm in tarrant county 90% of the time... mid-cities area. Everywhere I've tested in Dallas/N. Dallas, though, is always faster. I think the hspa+ is more built out there ... just more people, more tech industry, faster growth.
But yeah, the nice and releatively quiet suburbs of where live are not super fast. But im happy with my speeds

I need opinions.....

Here's my thing. I promised myself that if I Verizon didn't release the Galaxy Nexus today, I would stick with t-mobile. Here's how I plan to that. Hear me out, need feedback on this harebrained idea!
1. Buy unlocked galaxy nexus online for $800
2. Get tmobile value plan (bring your own device)
- 500 min
- 2gb
- Unlimited texts
= $50/month (base, not including tax and crap)
TOTAL: $800 + (50 x 24 months) = $2,000
Compare to Verizon - Galaxy Nexus: $200
- 450 min ($60)
- 2gb ($30)
- 1000 texts ($10)
= $100/mo
TOTAL: $200 + (100 x 24 months) = $2,600
Thats $600 Saved over 2 years! Whats the catch??? What am I missing in these calculations???
Change the thread title

I could use some constructive feedback on this forum. I watched the entire intro video. Please don't hate. Thanks
1) The Galaxy Nexus can be had between $680-700.
2) T-Mobile plans are cheaper than Verizon. You pay more for Verizon and get a broader coverage area.
3) The VZW Galaxy Nexus is $299
Don't mislead readers into thinking they are going to read some exciting news. Not a good way to start off.
here is the way I see it. What may work for me may not work for you and vice versa...
Verizon over T-mobile:
- it is not 2GB, it is 4GB for the holidays.
- LTE speeds.
- Better coverage ( at least in my area, I get constant drop calls at my home)
- Insurance in an expensive phone.
Like I said before, not everyone's case is the same.
Me personally, I will be joining my parents family plan and I will be paying less than what I'm paying in T-Mobile right now.
I am at a loss how anyone can deal with only 2 gigs of data.
Yes, wifi, etc, except the wifi radio on the GNEX is very weak. My iPhone will have full bars of wifi whereas the GNEX cannot even connect.
Godspeed with LTE too.
Go with Simple Mobile and get their unlimited plans... $60...no taxes or no hidden fees

Really? I only have a 1gb fair use policy on Orange UK. Never go over 750mb tbh even with high usage. I have no idea how you're using over 2Gb, unless you're downloading alotta netflix. Also my GNex has a better Wifi coverage than my Sensation XL and my brothers iPhone 4s. As for the OP's question, if i were you i'd wait till the Verizon Gnex is released. As others have said, you get LTE/better coverage/more data etc

And yes I agree t mobile has way better plan pricing than att
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I like how tmo does data better, throttling speeds rather than charging for overage. Sure, the speeds are slow as heck, but it's better than accidentally paying extra per month.
I don't know much about the att trick, so I can't comment on that. But I do recommend doing a mock plan on tmo's site to get a feel for the price difference you can expect.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

Go with at&t pre pay. I just dumped tmobile after 6 years. There a joke these days. Yes plans are great but customer care is horrible and the call centers are over seas now, talking with people who barely speak English is constant. The only way to talk to American customer service is say "cancel" at the automated system.
Also got different answers to questions every time I called in. Even called a liar about past problems. Tmobile use to be awesome but now I can't stand them.
I pay $50 with att for unlimited everything.
Tmobile just over $80 for unlimited everything.
At&t customer is better. I called in with trouble setting up voice mail. He set me up and even called back 10 minutes later to make sure every thing was working right. Can't beat that lol
Edit: I'm using a Tmobile s3 with at&t. No issues with voice or data and get 4g.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I'm going to tell you why you're going with Tmobile. Yes, their customer service is over seas but only some of it is. I can tell you what to say in the beginning of the call prompt that will get you right over to the USA based retention department. Tmobile is actually addressing these issues as we speak. Their bringing more call centers back from over seas and are on a mission to get back to that top spot in customer service they held for so many years. It's kind of funny how their customer service was stellar until they started messing with AT& T. I wouldn't be surprised if ATT gave them a list of **** they wanted done before the buy out went through.
Now, onto mobile services. If you get a good signal with both of them then I would side with Tmobile. HSPA+ uses less batter power than LTE. When it comes to overages, I think ATT charges you for every MB used after 5gb and Tmobile just throttles your speeds back to the equivalent of 2G data speeds. I believe Tmobile also has a 10gb plan if you think 5gb won't be enough. In 3 years, I've never came close to going past 5gb and I use my 4G connection quite often. I tether it to my laptop and take let. I play Counterstrike through my data connection sometimes and I used to play WoW through it. I think the most I've ever used was 4600mb. As long as your not using your phone data connection to download multiple torrents a day then you should be fine. When it comes to plan prices, well that's a no brainer. Tmobile definitely has better priced plans and less nick/diming charges.
Lastly, I believe ATT along with Verizon are excluding certain features from the GS3. I just found out about one tonight. Everyone on ATT has reported the absence of a Driving Mode icon within the notification pull down menu. Tmobile does in fact have this driving mode feature. That's the only one I know of at this point but there could be more.

I got a unlock code from Tmobile before I cancelled service. Went to at&t store and then set up my unlimited plan and got the SIM. After that set a apn for at&t and your good to go. Tmobile service in my area is 2 bars max and edge data speed. At&t data has been awesome where I'm at(out in the middle of no where)
You can let people tell you Tmobile is getting better but after 6 years of hearing it I gave up. Tmobile has started there "trying" to make things because they lost top spot for customer service. There gonna do nothing but blow smoke up your *** when there's a problem.
I had problems with roaming on my s3 and was calling in quit a bit. In the end there solution was to tell me that they don't have a roaming deal with at&t in my area. Funny because my old Samsung flip would roam in the same area no problem. After telling them this, he asked me to wait on hold for a few minutes while he looks into something......he transferred me to someone else instead. You go with Tmobile you'll regret it.
3 family members who also were fed up with them followed after I confirmed how much better at&t was.

Is this on contract? No more contracts for me.

wow wish I had of known before I switched my number to google voice
oh well, maybe I can still switch it back in the future.
If this is a legit deal, Tmobile might as well throw out their contract deals all together- people are going to come flocking to this.
talk, text, and 3G? No HSPA or LTE?

I am currently in a 3G area and still getting great speeds. But I don't need to tether. Gonna have to look up the specifics, see if it's truly unlimited data, or cap'd at 4-5 gb.

What's your definition of "great" speeds? 3 mbps? 5 mbps?

Ditto, I want >5Mbps which in my limited neighborhood tests T-Mobile more consistently delivered than all other major carriers both indoors & outdoors to my surprise..(though Verizon did peak higher outdoors)
I'm leaning toward their $30/mo plan..
Well guys, it's not exactly T-Mobile, but it looks to be a new MVNO they have:
http://www.tmonews.com/2012/12/t-mo...tnersupport-new-prepaid-brand-gosmart-mobile/
And it looks like it's $35 for unlimited call, text and web (2G speeds) since for $45 they have unlimited call, text, and high-speed web and it says 3G speeds right under the $45 plan, which means the "web" for the $35 plan will prob be 2G speeds.
I'd go with simple mobile, for $50, you get unlimited voice, text and 4G data (I don't believe there's a cap, but don't quote me on that).
I wish they had a plan for cheaper with 2GB of data, since I rarely use over 2GB... actually I don't think i ever have...

Exactly. I use GrooveIP just because it's so easy to set up. No problems. $30 plan is basically unlimited.
how does google voice work

Just google voice itself won't help. Google Voice is a service that will let you connect all your numbers to a central number, then depending on who calls, what time, etc. It will redirect the call to the appropriate number, but that requires you to have a number elsewhere (phone service elsewhere). Now if you combine Google Voice with some VoIP services, which let you make calls over a data connection (hence the IP part), then you essentially never have to or need to make traditional phone calls using minutes, etc.
Cons:
- data always on - more battery used
- set up - no matter how minimal or easy, my phone already has a built in dialer that works
- need to give out Google Voice # or pay $20 and end contract to port existing number to GV
Pros:
- no minutes used
- works anywhere with data connection (even abroad, but so does T-Mobile's Wifi Calling)

Who is enjoying their T-Mobile Note 2?

I want to switch to T-Mobile from AT&T and finally ditch my iPhone 4S. I am so tempted by their unlimited data plan. How is the service in general compared to AT&T (coverage permitting of course)?
Is the new unlimited data plan really unlimited???
No they lie, it's not truly unlimited, they have limit at 9000+ GB per month ...

Never tried at&t, but t mobile is better than Verizon where I live in south tx.

I love Tmo's service. I've been with them for about 3 years now & the coverage is pretty good. 4G speeds are good, a little slower than AT&T's 4G, but I've had both & the difference isn't really noticeable during every day use.
I had T-Mobile prior the iPhone 4S. Their service was excellent here. Some places EDGE, yes, but calls never dropped. I got onto AT&T and calls started dropping like crazy. During peak hours data was very slow. At first I liked being on a much larger network, but now I hate it.
I want truly unlimited data and better service. T-Mobile does have better quality service, its just not as mature as AT&T.
Loving mine. Had sprint for years but tmo is much better. Came from a tmo gs3 and I love this phone.,?

I left AT&T for T Mobile over a year ago and I am glad I did. I rarely get dropped calls and speeds are better as is customer service. Cheaper service and better service, imo. T mobile is faster with updates than AT&T ever was.

Believe me, I want to switch to T-Mobile so bad, but I dont want to pay an ETF with AT&T. It would be $195 if I left. Started service Oct 2011 with them.
Anyway, they drop so many calls and data sucks. Their LTE is nice but the costs are not. They also throttled speeds during calls too.
$140 for 4 lines, unlimited 4g,unlimited messaging, and 1000 minutes (never used) is a great price
love t-mobile data speeds customer service and all. I mean I live in a big city and I am inside a big city 99% of the time. I guess unless you travel a lot outside a city you'd be fine coverage wise. t-mobile data speeds is great too. I get 10mbps and up in and around metro-jax peaking at 27mbps.
last September 5 they introduced the truly unlimited nationwide 4g for $20 on value plan $5 cheaper than 5gb+hotspot. never been happier. I don't even know what wifi is anymore lol
I couldn't even hit 200gb on my laptop where I download tons of data and stream Netflix a lot so I wouldn't worry too much with 9.5TB of caps.

I think that they had/felt like putting in a number. But after all that I am sure your billing cycle would be over anyways. Between my home and T-mo interweb, I usually DL about 300GB per mo.
I truely enjoy my Note2.
Note 2 is the sickest phone ever
For once there is a phone that is everything it claims to be. Note 2 passes my expectations in entertainment, for business, and for school. I've been entertaining people by the handfuls with this thing. T-Mobile has definitely made some big changes with their phones and their customer service. Although every now and again I get into it with them, but that's everywhere. I've driven cross country a couple times with my SGS and SGS II and both times I only lost signal in the most desolate places. Speeds are very impressive. I try to compare with other people and their different carriers all the time. There are moments when I get speeds close to Verizon users, using SpeedTest. Overall I'm very impressed with T-Mobile and their fight to bring back some competition to the phone market. I have unlimited everything including data with no cap to slow down and I only pay $75/month. That's including insurance for $7.
I've had T-Mobile for 8 years and I'm happy with my service. Not to mention all of my 3 lines have unlimited everything (no caps) and its under $100

Damn thats spensive . im paying 74.00 for 1000 mins unl/txts unl/4g and 3 lines and they gave me the note 2 for 140.00 after rebate at that price.
Same here I have had T-Mobile for 11 years thats since they were VoiceStream, love the service I live in NYC great speed and coverage for 2 lines unlimited everything for $100. As a matter of fact before I purchased my Note 2 my upgrade wasn't until june 2013 they gave me an early full upgrade for being a loyal customer. They actually have a loyalty department which I thought was pretty awesome great customer service have no plans on ever leaving.

But how does T-Mobile compare to AT&T? AT&T has LTE everywhere here in Chicago. T-Mobile does have a nice AWS HSPA+ network but its not as mature as AT&T's. Speeds top out around 25mbps too.
