[Q] GNex not working with Virgin Mobile after rom [AUS] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I bought a GNex on a plan from Virginmobile sometime last year with the intended purpose to use the sim in my tablet for data and the phone as a spare for when my current GNex died.
As the rom updates were managed by Virgin (and by managed I mean not up updated) I flashed stock JB4.2.2 on it.
Since then the phone wont connect to the Virgin network to make calls or use data.
I'm guessing its the stock radio it put on there.
Is there a way to use the Virgin sim it it?
on a side note of course the sim didnt work in my tablet either, so now I;m paying $29p/m for a phone I dont really need just yet.

Faulty sim? try to get it replaced at a virgin store, check the apn'sare correct on the tablet for mobile data? try searching for the correct radio, for the network, I think from memory Virgin, uses the optus network.
Best of Luck

Correct Virgin does use Optus,
Where/how do I find an Optus radio for the Gnex?
thanks

[Q] Tmobile customer traveling to Canada

Hey everyone- not new to the community but i need some help in figuring out what exactly needs to be done for me to get service in Toronto.
I have tmobile and i refuse to pay the roaming charges they have for Canada- I plan to use a telus or rogers prepaid sim. Which one should i choose and why? i am only there for the weekend too so dont need a bunch of minutes or anything.
Also- i have put in a request to get my phone unlocked through tmobile. Once i have it unlocked- do i just pop in either a Telus or Rogers SIM and be on my way? or is there more to it such as flashing a specific radio??
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Can't help you regarding which operator to pick . I can however tell you that once you receive the network unlock code , simply pop in the SIM card and move on. That's all there is to it.
yup it's that easy
just punch in the unlock code and you are done
you can use any network you want, since our phone is Pentaband, it will work with any operator with a SIM card in Canada
might want to turn of auto DATA sync as it will eat up your pre-paid in record time
data charges are ridiculous on pre-paid cards, so use manual sync for only the stuff you need to find/get
Thanks for the reply guys- I received the unlock code from Tmobile today and applied it using an ATT sim card.
So i dont have to flash any modems/radios? saw something in another thread about that or is that strictly to gain 3g/4g speeds on those carriers?

AT&T Service Shutting off constantly, not sure how to fix it.

To keep things short, I'm a noob to most of the phone things. I have a HTC Google (T-mobile) G2 which is unlocked and has an AT&T Sim card. Right now it's running the Virtuous Quattro RC3 ROM. I did a full wipe of the phone and the ROM has been working great (despite the camera problems), but I noticed the phone would disconnect from the AT&T service every 10 mins or so. After using the phone all day I realized that everytime I unlock the phone, the phone disconnects from the service for about 1 min and then re-connects along with random times while I'm using the phone. I didn't have this problem with the last ROM (Virtuous Unity). But I know it's a problem with the phone because my house has perfect reception and I have never had a connection problem in the house. However, I do not know what could cause this problem and not sure if it is the Radio since I have read about alot of people talking about that. I have no idea what radio I'm using now and have no idea how to find it.
In addition, the phone cannot recognize my phone number in the settings and requires me to program the voicemail number (which of course I cannot figure out). Both of these were automatically recognized by my previous Virtuous Unity ROM.
Anyway, if someone could tell me what is causing this connection issue on my phone and how to fix it, I would be sooo grateful!
Please let me know if you need more information.
Use a T-Mobile SIM card.

That seems to be the easiest solution, but I have been using this unlocked phone with AT&T service for a month now and can't change service providers at the moment. Since I know the phone can work with AT&T I would rather try to find a solution to this problem.

Have you tried your AT&T SIM card in an AT&T phone?

I just did and it works perfectly in an AT&T phone and an Unlocked Nokia phone.
Try a different ROM.
Thanks for the advice. I started downloading the Affinity ROM to fix the problem. Just really liked the interface for the Quattro, but the camera bugs are annoying anyway.
you do realize with a tmobile branded g2 you won't have the proper cellular bands for high speed data? also you will need to change the apn to get things working. but yes changing radios may solve the dropped service I just couldn't tell you what radio works best, maybe test a few out... but as always be extra careful when playing with firmware

I got this phone from a friend when I badly needed a phone, but now that I can invest in a new phone, would any non-AT&T phones allow me to have high speed data? I don't want to pay for the smartphone plans, so I need something that is unlocked to stay on the cheaper plan.
I have tried to do some research on radios before and was having a hard time, but I will look again since I like the Quattro ROM much more than any of the other ROMs I've tried.
some will work some won't, try a wesite called gsm arena, this will give you phone specific radio bands

I have a ATT sgh-i747 4.4.2 KitKat unlocked and I use for Carrier Claro PR the connection to 4G lost in a few minutes from start up I can not do a call or use internet only wifi, I put apn from Claro PR LTE but nothing, I go to ServiceMode and in band selection are in Automatic I change to GSM all and works but in edge network for internet too slow but I can do any call, then I change to WCDMA all but not work I use WCDMA 850mhz only this works 4G, I use LTE all but only internet connection, what I can do to have all connection works including LTE. Thanks, if someone can help me will be apreciate.
Did it ever work properly on that carrier. If so, when did this start, and did you do anything to the device (flashing, modding, etc) just before it started?

HI Doc thanks for respond, I bought this phone used and phone have version 4.3 with PhilipTouch Recovery but system not have root or SuperSU then I flash stock recovery to use the update.cfg rename it to.zip and now are 4.4.2 stock rom official but in 4.3 same issue with network, I copy from my fathers phone att s3 NVfiles with QPST and I flashed to mine and put again my imei but nothing, what do you really think what happened in you're experience?
Im not really sure, but since you bought it used you should check to make sure the imei isnt blacklisted.
Does your fathers S3 work on the same network? Try swapping SIM cards. Test your card in his device and your device with his card.

My fathers phone is from ATT network, but I put my imei from my broken phone Galaxy s3 and is not black listed and is from Claro PR Network but let me see if my father give me again his phone because he don't want any body touch it and i dont know if is unlocked, I had to beg, and it was a miracle that gave me the phone to extract from his phone the nvfiles last time, you know if I can try something else DocHoliday??? Thanks.:good:
If you changed the original IMEI that's exactly why you are experiencing problems.
Anything but the original one assigned to the device will most likely cause problems. Even if its from another device that's the same model.

[Q] T807T with T-Mobile Phone SIM?

Has anyone been able to use a T-Mobile phone SIM in a T807T for calls and Truly Unlimited data? I have an extra line I'm not using, didn't work in my P607T Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Now I'm thinking about getting a CPO Tab S directly through T-Mobile, because 9 months after purchasing my "refurbished" P607T from an online store, it's just been blacklisted and I can't use my 5GB data SIM with it anymore. Due to how T-Mobile's system is designed there is absolutely no way to unblock it without the original owner's info to pay off its balance. So, has anyone successfully used a phone SIM on their T-Mobile Tab S? I don't even need the calling (although it would be cool), I really just want the Truly Unlimited data.
I thought all lte models allowed data regardless of sim, otherwise what would be the point of the sim?
Maybe I'm reading this wrong? :what:
Apparently not. My current tablet is LTE and phone SIM data didn't work with it, just the SIM from my 5GB data line. Yet the data SIM worked in a phone when I first got it. I was confused about it too. I was hoping this tablet might be different.
I was wondering the same thing. Would flashing a custom rom work?

Possible to odin flash the Tmobile software onto my formerly Sprint S20plus?

Hey guys. I just got a new S20 plus and it was Sprint branded phone. After tmobile bought sprint, they rolled out an update to download all the carrier stuff to the phone to make it work on Tmobile as soon as a SIM gets inserted. That being said, every time I reboot the phone, it's still running sprints ODADM or whatever software to check the network and make sure everything is fine, so it is definetly still running some sprint stuff.
Is there a way to nuke this thing and make it think it's a tmobile phone from the get go? Like it even has a tmobile boot screen now, but it's still running all the Spring network stuff.
