how can LGOG use usb otg... my device is rooted, can? e975
with a cable for it! :what:
It does not support OTG mode.
?
all fine with OTG lol
yeah, same here, both mhl and usb otg work just fine.
with a stock rom?
Much like skdubg, I'm running cm10.1 (0420) with the houcha kernel (3.4.41), and OTG/MHL has never worked.
I've got an e971 and with no microsd slot, I would love to see OTG on this phone. MHL would just be icing on the cake...

MHL is supposed to work in Chads CM10.1 at least, might be the Houcha kernel not supporting it.

MHL works with Houcha kernel... :fingers-crossed:
all good
Weird. I've tried a couple of times over the span of the last month or so and it didn't work. Could be my cable I guess, but I'll give it another go when I get home tonight.
EDIT:
MHL does work! I swear the last time I tried it did nothing. Still no OTG, though. The light on my flashdrive doesn't even light up for a second.

Ive got 2 galaxy nexus', and 2 generic mhl adapters.
1 from was running build 39 (or something around there) with francos latest kernel. I try the MHL adapters and neither work. I flashed a JB rom and it still doesnt work.
All it does is send my phone into an endless boot loop.
So the second phone is brand new and bone stock. I plug in the adapter and things work great. I figure it must be some hardware issue. I proceed to flash AOKP (milestone 6 stock kernel). I go to plug in the adapters and neither work. It just sends me through a bootloop again.
Ive tried all different combinations of plugging in the HDMI cord, turning on this, switching that, plugging in the power cord, etc... Nothing works.
Is it AOKP? Id rather not waste the money buying the official adapter if it wont work either.
Any suggestions? I really need MHL but I didnt buy the galaxy nexus to run a stock rom.
BTW, both adapters work on my rezound and as I said, also worked on the new one fresh out the box.

Why not try a different ROM like CM and see if MHL works? If it works with other custom ROMs, you can then ask AKOP if they'll have MHL support in the future. If they won't then it's time to find another ROM.
Try a different kernel. Sometimes that makes all the difference in communicating through other interfaces (ie Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MHL, etc). I use leankernel.
You have usb fast charge enabled?

No. Should I? I'll try when I'm home.

Wow I can't believe that that's all it was. Thanks. I've read multiple threads on mhl not working and never has your suggestion came up.
It does make me wonder why it worked on the stock rom though. Anyways, as long as it works I'm happy. Thanks again.
Woa woa, what was that? Now U say its working on JB AOKP?
I own an S2 and my AOKP ROM didnt support it, dont remember the kernel, now on Aberration ROM with Siyah kernel and works badly
What is that of fast charge setting?
I've had an mhl adapter since November, the time I bought the phone, It worked perfectly on Gingerbread roms such as Beastmod and juggernaut. I haven't tried all the ics roms but with infamous 2.85 there seems to be an overscan, both top and bottom parts of the screen are cut off. Has anyone experience this? No overscan setting on my tv while hooked up on hdmi. Other hdmi sources don't have this problem. Any workarounds? Or is this an ICS issue?
Thanks in advance
Try a different ROM, CM 9 or AOKP 7/15 milestone 6 come to mind.

It works on Darkside evolution 3.7. Haven't had any success on cm9 or aokp though I heard there was 1 nightly build with it

I've tested this on AOKP Build 7/15 and it works. Builds before this didn't though, I believe.
Infamous, darkside Evolution and the latest aokp build have an image, but overscanned. Are you guys using the official mhl adapter? I'm using a third party I don't know if that matters. Maybe third party adapters are having the overscan issue with ics?
All cm9 and aokp Rom that came out after 7/15 support mhl.

So, what could be causing the overscan?
So I am running XDA Senior Member twa_priv 's build of jellybean (20120824 ROM; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778010), and I found out that with ICS, people were able to use USB hosting with an OTG cable. I found a pretty decent case that has a full-sized male USB port, and I was wondering if anyone knows if USB hosting works with this ROM, and if I need any other software to run it? I am about to update to the 20120912 ROM if that makes any difference.
What I saw from ICS demos is that it is running Hashcode's 3.0 kernel, and I also am running 3.0.x, so I would think that this works, but I haven't had any success.

for me otg connecting things have always only worked sometimes. Like the kf would need to be fully charged but even then it only worked sometimes. Yes i have gotten it to work on jb though.

And by the way;
Thanks
Hey there,
I'm not that n00b when it comes to Android (battery calibration is no secret to me, my phone is rooted, I can use CWM, etc/whatever) but I've never flashed any ROM or Kernel. But after buying an MHL cable and noticing that my phone (T999V) is not fast-charging even though the usb cable is connected to a power adapter, I felt the need to flash a custom kernel which supports fast-charging (don't wanna get another cable!).
After a bit of research, I decided to settle on Leankernel. BUT...then I learned that it wouldn't work with the stock, Touchwiz ROM (only CM10 or AOSP, and maybe AOKP). To make it worse, I learned that NFC on CM10 is broken, and that since Qualcomm's code is not open source, using CM10 will result in the CPU working at only about 60% of its full capacity...
Could anybody help me a bit on this confusing endeavor? I do have to advise that I won't be turning flash-crazy, flashing nightlies and etc, I want something fast and stable, that I'll be keeping for a while (got at least 55 apps installed...don't wanna re-install them several times a month...and not even every month).

so what is your question exactly? are you looking for a recommendation on what ROM you should run?
if that is the case, i would recommend infamous. and check out my thread here in Q and A about flashing ROMs...
good luck

Yes, I was looking for a recommendation. Sorry, I realized that the title of my thread was not the best but it was too late...! In the best of worlds, I basically want to flash a kernel that has USB fast-charge that can work on stock touchwiz. I would want to use Leankernel but I would have to flash AOSP on my phone. By the way, is there anything such as pure un-modded AOSP and where can I find it?
Hello!
Ever since I moved from stock ROM to Linease OS ROM my Slimport stopped working, I tried many 3 different Slimport cable brands and non seem to work.
I'm inclined to believe this is a Kernel problem.
Has anyone had Slimport issues like me that were able to solve it through installing a new Kernel?
Or does anyone have their Slimports working fine with non-official ROMs?
Any info, anything is appreciated!
I've been struggling with those for over a year.
Thanks.
Please take a look at this! Thanks!
