I have Acro S and I noticed that the CPU goes to 810 mHz automatically while it heating, e.g. while playing game, benchmarking, or even I use it regularly... Anyone here has a tweak or trick to disable that??

It would not be wise to bypass the cpu over heat protection.
If you have a case on you can see if taking it off helps.
Also with cpu editor you can force both cores to be used

Yea, I don't suggest playing with CPU settings, my friend burnt his ARC trying to play GTA 3 at max so don't do it : (

CPU editor only forces both cores on at all times. If the phone gets to hot it will still reduce frequency to lower temp.
2 cores at a lower temp is still faster than 1.
I am not talking about overclocking the CPU, that can definitely cause damage.

Yes I got it, sorry for misunderstanding

ok look. the diamonds processor is 525mhz eh. with this tool you can underclock it. you can do it to like 300mhz or 256mhz. the device runs some slower but the battery life will be better you understand it now?
//Nick
The simple explanation is:
Underclocking: Makes the processor run at a speed lower than it is designed/certified for.
Overclocking: Makes the processor run at a speed higher than it is designed/certified for.
Edit: forgot to say the reason you may want to underclock is to save battery power. You would overclock to improve performance.

not overburden it is a tip from me to you / nu i-l suprasolicita este un sfat din partea mea pentru tine
underclocked
Underclocking your phone will do no damage to it at all
You can run Photoshop on a PC with a 1Ghz CPU and on a PC with a 3Ghz CPU
No damage done to the slower CPU, just not as fast
Keep in mind that this has close to NO effect at all when the phone is sleeping.
So, unless you're constantly using your phone - and you don't need the speed - there's no need for this!
im trying to code an app that will dynamically adjust clock speed depending on cpu load. so far i got it to take the cpu to 200mhz if cpu usage is under 50%.
i need more work to code in more clock states and tune the clock triggering thresholds.
I like the Doomkernel but overclocking the GPU scares me somewhat (since you can't change the GPU clock rate)
If the GPU/CPU is broken I don't think I can afford a new one...
So like the title, what OC rate is safe to use ?
All phones behave differently so some phones will oc to 2 GHz with no side effects while some won't go past 1.4 GHz
So u should try it yourself
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Oc above 1.4GHz without undervolt is dangerous
If you can undervolt 1.6GHz to 1250mV, 1.6GHz are safe, too
So just use 1.4GHz if you can't get a new phone in case you brick it

Just like a Computer CPU...you should only overclock in small increments..then check for stability.
Personally, i would advice against overvolting the phone..
I keep my phone @ 1.2GHZ..I don't find the need to go beyond this. Then again, i dont play too many games on it
I have "DooMKernel v4" and "Extreme Voltage Control" in the Arc S but did not appear the options to change the voltages. Why?
Can undervolting, in any way, make ure phone heat up more or loose more battery?
/==(CyberScopes)==\
I undervolted 50mV and my phone is still okay
Wats the best undervolting level?
/==(CyberScopes)==\
I don't think it will damege the hardware, but the software may not boot due to the CPU not having enough energy to process all the bits of data there for having to restore a nandroid or ftf. But I don't know about a safe voltege as I am on a stock kernel and locked bootloader

Doomlord said -100mv is stable for him. But I not dare so I go till -50mV
If i try undervolting, my battery life goes to hell.
Its different from phone to phone.

Ive got -100mv and i cant tell if its givin more or less batt.
/==(CyberScopes)==\
Undervolting will never harm the phone, though it may prevent it from booting (if the undervolt is set on boot), or make the phone sporadically freeze/reboot. Some frequencies can undervolt more than others, and each phone's tolerance will vary as well. I've been able to go down -225mV on the 1024MHz frequency (or even -250mV on 1017MHz), though that's the farthest any of them has gone.
Yeah I've heard of overclocking causing damage, but never undervolting. It may cause some issues, but actual damage? I don't think so.
-Undervolting should GAIN BATTERY.
-Going too low might make your device freeze or not boot.
-Because of the way that you are actually taking away the energy this actually makes the phone slightly cooler.
- I myself don't like messing up with the voltages, there shouldn't be a very huge battery difference (Only about 1-6%) and I prefer stability.
-If you are still thinking of doing so then use a CPU stress app and test on every single step that you go down by for at least 20 minutes.

I'm able to set 1.6GHz to 1200mV stable, but it varies from phone to phone. (1200mV is the same as stock 1GHz voltage btw )

That's what you want it to do, and that is the usual result of moderate undervolting, but that is not always the result.
The phone checks itself (similar to parity checks). Excessive undervolt can make the phone cpu do the same thing over and over until it comes out right

It could have happened because your phone has gone to the highest possible frequency, I'm not sure about it though.
How do I change the voltage in android without having to edit the kernel?
Wysłane z mojego R800i za pomocą xda premium
I agree that the safest level of undervolting is -50 or even -75 but anything beyond -100 would make the device restart when it hits the min clock speed.
Can somebody give me tutorial how to undervolting custom kernel? When using/try doomkernel n lupus still can't see a chance to uv. N i don't want to use setxperia.

There is definately some sort of bug in my note 2 or all note 2 cpus
Iv been trying to find out why nova3 and mc4 have random lag spikes and then smooth gameplay. At first like many people said
Gameloft games arent optimized well i belived that. While thats true to some extent heres what iv found
Using set cpu or tegrak to force the cpu at max clock fails after hitting 38c
Thus causeing lag in game
No matter what setting iv tried the moment my phone hits 38c the cpu
Locks back to 800mhz. My phone is rooted yet there is no way i can maintain the clock at 1.6ghz
Im now using androd revolution rom and that hasnt helped either. Does anyone else have this issue?
To test run nova3 or mc4 any level and stay in there moveing around after the phones warm enough(around 38c for me) youll notice
Stuttering. Check ur cpu and ull find its downocked to 800mhz
Dear nielo360,
Probably, you are reading the battery temp not the cpu temp since note2 cpu throttles at 80 c...
Try system tuner pro application to read real cpu temp...
If you are overclocking or wanna lock the cpu to max speed then you should do undervolting by installing custom kernels like perseus...
Try to undervolt both cpu and gpu...
Also try to lower your brightness to stay away from extra heat that screen makes...
Issue discussed before so you can refer to here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058119
Hope all these helps...
Kind Regards..

Thanks for the reply, i did follow the thread and undervolted my cpu running at 1.3ghz 1025mv however my phone reaches 67c true temp and throttles very easily any idea if this normal i cant play any 3d games unless im sitting near a fan or ac. Every says they throttle at 80c
It is set to throttle for good reason. It may b irritating but I would let it be and not tamper with it.

The stuttering in mc4 has been driving me crazy.
I also used a tool to measure cpu and find that the game runs well for the first few matches and then it does tend to lock itself at 800mhz and the sideshow begins.
My phone doesn't get that hot, but something is definitely going on. I really hope that gameloft can optimize this game. These games running on ios are so much smoother that it's embarrassing for Android "super phone" users.

The problem is not the cpu its the gpu throttleing as samsung has for some odd reason overclocked it. The fix for this is a bit tricky
If you use tegrak ultmate Do not force gpu lock at 533mhz this will underclock the cpu automaticly and make it unstable after a few mins instead
Set level 0 gpu 533mhz stock
Undervolt if your like
Set level 1 440mhz
1025
Seg level 2 440mhz
1025mv
.. leave the last level at stock 166mhz
Cpu you can scale it or leave it doesnt matter mine is locked at 1.3ghz
This works great for the most part and u wont notice the downclock as the clocks will move between 533 and 440 during heat.

i found that the real throttling problem is a security protocol that Samsung roms have. When the battery reach 41C the cpu throttles (no matter if its only at 60C cpu temp)
i dont know how to deactivate that protocol...but if you want, try CM10.1 or any other AOKP or AOSP roms and you´ll see that there is no cpu throttling unless the cpu reach 80C.
you´ll need "stability test" app (cpu stress testing, and you can watch battery temp), and "system tuner" app (to watch live cpu temp during the stress test)

it really depends, im using CM10 on 134-1024 Mhz. Most the games are smooth. Its safe to OC up to 1.4 GHz imo. 1.6 GHz and 1.8 GHz might damage over time and a lot of usage at max frequency
OC is always bad and dangerous, no matter what clocks you use.
Besides, OC doesn't give any major performance boost, you can barely see it.

Why bother overclocking something that is outdated specification wise? And with an single core, the performance boost is non-existant because the core will be driven hard and generate heat and voila.. RIP!

It's not a matter of hearing it from someone. It will definitely happen if you overclock your phone since increasing the maximum frequency from the design limit will fry your phone.
