Ok I've posted this in a few threads and there seems to be some interest in it so I'll throw it up here so it's easier to find. Works on all JB TouchWiz ROMs, works on some AOSP ROMs (hit or miss, you'll have to test. If you have it working on AOSP let me know what ROM and I'll start a list)

Feel like a noob... I just read 'for JB roms' on your description. It would be nice if you made one for ICS. Looks like it would come in handy. Otherwise, I can come back once I get my S3 or S4 with a JB rom.

I do have the E4GT. I can't upgrade to JB because I have her flashed to metropcs. As far as I know, MMS isn't working on JB (custom) on metropcs. So I am stuck on ICS. I bought this phone with GB and then found a solid TW stock rom without Sprint's baggage.

I can confirm that the MMS fix linked above works.
I'm on my E4GT flashed to MetroPCS running Domination ROM, Jellybean 4.2.2. The fix should work with TW too.

Is it possible to flash the stock Galaxy S3 ROM onto an Galaxy S2 (and have it work)?
If it's not possible to flash the stock ROM, is anyone working on a port or something that is very close to stock?
The S2 is my first android, and I haven't had the need to root or flash a custom ROM yet. I recently applied the ICS update though, and it's driving me crazy. I hate some of the changes.
Thanks for the help.

Unless it was ported version, no. Absolutely not. You will brick your phone by doing so.

to do all that you have to flash a recovery (cwm)...and thats rooting ur phone...i dont understand why anybody hasnt mentioned that...thats the only way you can use the roms they mentioned...and if your gonna do all that...i think the most stable rom is darkside v8 ...or you can use the newest jelly bean rom...they are coming along very nice...and jelly bean is all that...
The S3 and S2 have diffrent processors and a completely different hardware. You will have a very expensive paper weight. Ive heard many good things thought about Jedi Mind trick, that it has many S3 features.
I am running the Jedi Mind Trick ROM on my S2 and it doesn't look much different than my gf's S3 (obviously some things are different). She works for a "technology" company and it kills me that she has a nicer phone than I do - for now. The Jedi Mind Trick is probably as close to an S3 you can get on an S2 IMO.

Really? At the risk of sounding like a jerk.... How did you even find your way into the Q&A section without seeing tons of posts about "When will we get the ICS update?"
Just to let you know, once the OTA ICS update is released you will not be able to download it since you are not on the Verizon network. What you will need to do is S-OFF (or at least HTC Dev Unlock) your phone so that you can flash a custom rom. The best part about this is that you don't even have to wait for a custom rom to be released thanks to our awesome devs! You have tons of options for ICS, if you want stock Nitsuj17 just posted a leaked version of the update earlier today and he also has another sense ICS rom out, CondemnedSoul soul has a few nice options (AOKP and CM9 or if you want JellyBean he has the new version of AOKP as well,) Aerovan has an awesome CM9 and a CM10 rom, TazzPatriot has a sense ICS rom out too. There are others as well, those are just the ones that spring to mind.
Thanks

There is no real "stock" ICS ROM yet as it hasn't been released. The closest ROMs to stock ICS at the moment are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846304

The first link is the closest as it is from a test leak.

Just stay stock. If you are that much of a rookie to this, it just might make things worse at this point in time. Most don't have GSM working 100% from what I understand (GSM users can correct me on that).
But, if you haven't even rooted yet, you are still a bit away from being able to flash one of those bad boys. I say give it another week at least to see what these devs can do with the leaked rom.
It will probably be easier for you. If not, and you think you are ready to take the plunge, than good luck and enjoy!
I recently got a stock FH13 phone off a friend and I have it rooted. However once I rooted I found my 4g barely works on any from (10k/s). Running AOSP jb and flashed FI03 because i heard it would help but didnt. I'm coming off a ns4g where I can flash away and not worry. I tried searching here and on Google with nothing coming up. Any solutions? Thanks in advance

If you are currently on aosp jb follow the instructions in the video and update profile and prl. If you get decent 4g in your area then you will get decent 4g on any rom that has 4g working.

Are you referring to FI03 modem? That will not help, this is sounds like the "ics 4g bug" that some people get (me included), there's no fix yet for aosp. You'll need to go to a FI03 based rom, or gingerbread.
What rom are you running? Do they include the radios or I dont have to do anything since I already have that modem flashed? I looked and I couldnt find any AOSP FI03 roms. All that are FI03 are touchwiz (blahhh)

I ended up going back to Calkulin's GB rom:

with tdunham's 1.2 tweaks:

Modems are separate, and since you have FI03 modem already, you can leave that alone.
I also have Overstew's ICS theme:

Nah, once you switch to CM9 you'll lose the fix. The fix is part of the FI03 rom and maybe kernel. Just try out the rom, update profile and prl. If you still get bad 4G speed then it could be the area you're in or the phone itself.
Thanks a lot. I almost bricked it (odin stopped mid process because im on WIN8) but managed to recover. My 4g speeds picked up but are nowhere near my EVO 4g. It is usable now though so thanks a lot and I will experiment some more later
After having a stable rom for a while, i decided to try a new one that has great reviews. however after flashing the new rom on my phone, there seems to be no connection to 4g, any insight or suggestions would be appreciated

I read about that, however my 3G was still working. it would just never go to 4G even at locations I always had 4G before.
after flashing have you ever saw the 4g icon ? if not I would go to the ROM thread and ask if it included in the ROM.

it was included in the rom, i even tried the •Jelly Bean 4.1.1 I535VRBLK3 Base from synergy and had the same issue. just went back to my Darthstalker X rom and it seems to be working again.
Well that sucks, but I am glad your 4G is back up and running. I have not ever flashed any CM10 when I had my S3 because of the losing IMEI crap instead I would flash AOSP ROM's and never had any problems. You may want to try one of those.

it better be touchwiz and be for this device.. LoL I dont know for sure but I bet Jedi would work or faux's kernel... no guarantees though, wait for someone to answer that knows LoL or google it... I never have played around with telus ROMs and TMO kernels together... it should work but again not sure. if you test it let us know the result.

On ICS they would generally mess up the auto rotation, but work otherwise.
Rushing, thanks a lot for this, will be flashing soon.
Any indication the new infamous wipes are needed for flashing the telus 4.1.2? (versus TMo?)

Thanks Rushing. Been waiting to try this, but didn't want to have to go through Kies or ODIN and reroot. Knew someone would come through.
Thanks, a lot. Maybe people can use the telus one for the base of their ROMs now. It's clean of bloat, tethering is native so you don't have to mess around, etc. I mean it's pure TW. I know most custom ROMs are debloated. But where TMO is concerned it can never be clean enough.

I agree, but TMO has wifi calling so that base is quite popular, but I am sure there will be a nice custom telus rom eventually.
