I'm looking for an application and software that i can use in order to present/view my android screen on my mac like the one that google is using on their keynote and presentations. All the actions will be from the mobile phones and the screen on the computer will show what i'm doing on my phone. I'm using Galaxy Nexus with 4.2. I have found the droid at screen but is too slow to update the screen on the computer. i have tested and the androidscreencast but it doesn't work and also the VMLite VNC Server. They told me about MHL to HDMI adapter but id don't work because i dont want to show the screen direct to the projector. I want to show it from macbook pro which is going to be used the one available HDMI cable of the projector.
Does anyone knows any other application? I prefer an application which is using usb cable but are welcome also solutions using for wifi.
Thanks a lot
What was the error with our VMLite VNC Server? we have many other users using the same model w/o issues. You may need to download our latest free desktop program to start the server via USB for Android 4.2.2.

can you provide me with a download link please?
http://www.vmlite.com/vaac
the vnc server apk is not free, but if your device is not rooted, you need to use the above free desktop program to start. and it requires VMLite VNC Server 1.2 to work, anything prior to 1.2 version won't work.

not sure if anyone needs this, but i sure use it everyday for work.
so here's the link in case you need it
http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/
it's compatible with UltraVNC (http://www.uvnc.com/download/), it sure beats Windows Remote Desktop (Therminal Services) and it's more secure too
Apple Mac OS X 10.4 and newer already comes build in with the VNC server.
N1ce will try this out later
Nice!!! VNC finally on Android... I was using RemoteDesktop before this... It's ok... but VNC is VNC!!!
Hi,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting Android VNC working on my I9000. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and I can connect to it fine. When I try to control the desktop from my phone I can see the response on my pc screen but not on my phone. Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks
Maybe Galaxy S does not have that much processing power? :S
Not sure...
i doubt that as i have no problem.
check your internet connection.
if you are running torrents, turn it off
My internet connection is fine, I'm not having any problems connecting to websites on either my computer or phone. I'm not running any torrents either....
I use ultraVNC with MRSCplugin encryption on my desktop pcs, does anyone know if there is a client that can handle this as I don't think this one does?
AFAIK i don't think the current releases supports encryption yet
I use TightVNC on Vista; and this app works amazingly awesome!.
I get a few laughs now and then scaring people controlling pc remotely.. LOL
really works like a charm, use this as remote for my pc when watching movies in bed lol also secretly installed on my little brothers pc and he is running scared xD
Anyone figured out the easiest way to double click without it coming out as a right click?
I usually use the WYSE software for this, seemed to work much better when I was on a Milestone.
Remember , Zodttd is working on VNC for android!
I tried VNC but LogMeIn is A LOT better.
I use RealVNC on the PC Win7 and "Remote VNC Ad" on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000

I am using UltraVNC on all my servers, androidVNC works just fine with it. When on slow connections, I just only pull 8 or 64-colors to lighten it up a bit.
Does vnc support sound on android yet? If not then rdp is still better

It's a Ubuntu vino server and Nvidia problem. You should disable visual effects (compiz), set it to none and you will have a working VNC server!

why would you want sound to be transferred ?
it's a waste of bandwidth
it's horrible when you are stuck in an area with only EDGE coverage, say you are driving between 2 towns, you get a call
it's an emergency, and you need to pull over to remote into the server to fix whatever it is
May seem kind of weird and you may be asking why I want to do this.
I have a little minitop PC set up and hooked into a TV. The way it's layed out, a mouse and keyboard would not fit in at all. It seems logical I can somehow use the evo as the mouse and/or keyboard on demand.
I see two general possibilities...
1) Using Bluetooth (I'd assume it would be using an AOSP rom such as Cyanogens because of the BT stack)
2) Some sort of remote desktop software that *doesn't* log out the computer once the evo logs in. Windows built in remote desktop is great, however when you log in remotely it brings the computer to the login credentials screen where it says someone now is logged into the computer.
What do you guys think? Is it a possibility?
Have you tried Gmote? I think it's exactly what you are looking for.
-Sent from the XDA app
install a VNC agent on your PC and use a VNC client on your android like android VNC.
Thank you guys, I'm trying out both as we speak =)

+1 on phone my PC, its always work great for me.
I have the need to remote control my tablet Asus Nexus 7 2013 from my pc. For remote control I mean to see the screen of the tablet and operate on it as I was directly touching it.
The first choices were Teamviewer Quicksupport and Droid VNC server. On my rooted tablet with stable 10.2 cyanogen both the apps don't allow me to remote control the device from my pc.
Teamviewer Quicksupport freezes on my pc on the window saying it's trying to establish a remote connection, while ultravnc on my windows pc shows me a big black screen when connecting to the vnc server.
Both the programs work perfectly when trying them with other android devices like Samsung Galaxy Nexus or Sony Xperia U.
Do you know how to solve these issues (Teamviewer quickconnect is a relly nice app) or do you know other methods?
Really thanks in advance
Can't seem to get VNC working with Fire TV.
Tried following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793823
Using both droid VNC server and VMLite VNC Server. Using various clients when I connect, I just get a black screen.
We have users successfully using our vmlite vnc server on FireTV.
Did you start the vnc server using our desktop vaac program using a PC?

My FireTV is rooted so I did not start the server using your desktop vaac program. The server is running and I connect to it. The problem is that I do not see anything when I connect. Just a black screen.
I have the same issue with all the VNC apps I have tried which includes vmlite vnc and droid vnc. I am rooted and they all show a black screen, even if they may control the mouse and keyboard ok.
I have found a solution if you do not mind controlling your FireTV from a web browser instead of an actual VNC app. The app I have found that does certainly work for all remote control use with the exception of transmitting video prime (which I would have expected to be choppy and unusable anyways) is called WebKey.

Interesting, black screen? What android version are you running on the device?

glitchbit thanks for the tip. I used Webkey and it works fine. It took awhile to figure how to register as a new account because the browser option was not working but I created a new account from inside the app once I started the server.
I also started using teamviewer with the android quicksupport app but to connect to the fire tv screen you need to press two prompts on the firetv which I can do now remotely with the webkey interface.
To navigate remotely you are best off using an app like lanmote deluxe ($3.99) as it will let you use your phone as the controller via a very responsive web interface and it will let you use your keyboard. There is Air Keyboard as well if you prefer an actual app, but it does not have a dpad and standard media controls like lanmote does. I will check out teamviewer though, it may work better than webkey in some circumstances.
I only mention solutions that work for both iOS and Android as I use an iPhone and while I know there may be better mouse/keyboard remote control apps for Android phones they are useless to me.

The Fire TV can't be connected to a PC by USB.. It acts as a host, not an external device. How do I start the vnc server on an unrooted device? Can I do this over the network via ADB?
Thanks!
This is a trial version of our popular Android VNC Server for fire TV Box and Stick. With this app, you can view and control fire TV using a VNC client or a web browser that is running on another computer or mobile device.
Trial apk download:
http://www.youmap.com/VMLiteVNCServer-firetv-trial.apk
This app is also available from Amazon store as a paid app for $5.99.
It's very easy to use on fire TV, just simply click Start button.
Instructions:
(1) Enable ADB Debugging - go to Amazon TV Box or Stick, Settings, System, Developer Options > tun on ADB Debugging
(2) side load the apk from above link
(3) Launch the app from System > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > VMLite VNC Server, then click Start button, and it will display ip address and port number to connect. You only need to do this once, the vnc server is configured to auto start after subsequent reboots.
(4) Download a vnc client (TightVNC is recommended) to your PC, or use android vnc client on android devices, or use builtin vnc viewer on MAC, or simply use a browser to view and control fire TV.
That's it, and have fun!
Forgot to mention, why you would need this?
(1) use computer display. mouse, keyboard to remote control fireTV. Very good for developers, I personally use vnc server to develop our apps on fireTV. No need for extra display.
(2) Use android phone with this app, act as a remote control, also with display for quick positioning.

When I try to install this app on my Fire TV (4k), it says something to the effect of "This app can only be installed on the Amazon Fire TV".
I have ADB debugging on, and I've made sure that there are no parallel ADB connections.
Any ideas?
It's doesn't work.
When I start the App, they says Update needed.
Not working on the ATV2 running 5.0.4. "This trial version works only on Amazon fire TV"
The pro version complains that it's not licensed, presumably because Google Play services aren't available.
Haven't been in this forum in awhile and missed this. I tried it and it said something it doesn't work or something like that. So what I'd like to know....is this because the trial apk expired? If I purchase the app from amazon will it work on my rooted gen 1 AFTV? and if I update to OS 5 I assume it will also work there too...
any update on this?
is there a working version for firetv
i'll pay but dont want to have that license issue on a firetv that doesnt have the google play services
Hi @huisinro,
Can you upload again the apk test, please?
fastest way for PC / Mac / Linux.. do it with scrcpy
Download latest release release
connect to your stick tv from adb connect for example:
adb connect 192.168.1.105:5555
Click to collapse
connected to 192.168.1.105:5555
Click to collapse
After that run scrcpy.exe on windows.. or jar on mac... you will see the display
(this also works for any adb connected android)
Thanks scrcpy devs
