not sure if anyone needs this, but i sure use it everyday for work.
so here's the link in case you need it
http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/
it's compatible with UltraVNC (http://www.uvnc.com/download/), it sure beats Windows Remote Desktop (Therminal Services) and it's more secure too
Apple Mac OS X 10.4 and newer already comes build in with the VNC server.
N1ce will try this out later
Nice!!! VNC finally on Android... I was using RemoteDesktop before this... It's ok... but VNC is VNC!!!
Hi,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting Android VNC working on my I9000. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and I can connect to it fine. When I try to control the desktop from my phone I can see the response on my pc screen but not on my phone. Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks
Maybe Galaxy S does not have that much processing power? :S
Not sure...
i doubt that as i have no problem.
check your internet connection.
if you are running torrents, turn it off
My internet connection is fine, I'm not having any problems connecting to websites on either my computer or phone. I'm not running any torrents either....
I use ultraVNC with MRSCplugin encryption on my desktop pcs, does anyone know if there is a client that can handle this as I don't think this one does?
AFAIK i don't think the current releases supports encryption yet
I use TightVNC on Vista; and this app works amazingly awesome!.
I get a few laughs now and then scaring people controlling pc remotely.. LOL
really works like a charm, use this as remote for my pc when watching movies in bed lol also secretly installed on my little brothers pc and he is running scared xD
Anyone figured out the easiest way to double click without it coming out as a right click?
I usually use the WYSE software for this, seemed to work much better when I was on a Milestone.
Remember , Zodttd is working on VNC for android!
I tried VNC but LogMeIn is A LOT better.
I use RealVNC on the PC Win7 and "Remote VNC Ad" on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000

I am using UltraVNC on all my servers, androidVNC works just fine with it. When on slow connections, I just only pull 8 or 64-colors to lighten it up a bit.
Does vnc support sound on android yet? If not then rdp is still better

It's a Ubuntu vino server and Nvidia problem. You should disable visual effects (compiz), set it to none and you will have a working VNC server!

why would you want sound to be transferred ?
it's a waste of bandwidth
it's horrible when you are stuck in an area with only EDGE coverage, say you are driving between 2 towns, you get a call
it's an emergency, and you need to pull over to remote into the server to fix whatever it is

I've never tried any remote desktop programs before, but I imagine they can be VERY useful to have on my HD. So I'm wondering, which is the best one, freeware preferred? I'd also be glad for tips for paid programs, in case I find the freeware solutions lacking.
Thank you very much.
Edit: Mixed up virtual desktops and remote desktops.
I'm not too sure what exactly you want, but http://www.mymobiler.com/ is free and give you control of the HD from the PC with a very pretty virtual screen of the HD.
I'm actually looking for a program that does the exact opposite of My Mobile - allowing me to control my desktop PC from my HD.
But thanks for posting that link, I'll take a look at that as well.
You can download Microsoft's Remote Desktop app. It works well on HD.
I totally mixed up remote a virtual desktops... Silly me.
Thanks for the tip.
I use logmein, choose the free version and your laughing! I quite often show up the iphone users by saying "hey, im controlling my mac, while being at work, on my HD
Why not just use the remote desktop app that comes pre-installed (at least it did on my stock and custom rom). Just set the colors to high, enable landscape on the HD, and your good to go! Works perfect for me.
I use .NET VNC Viewer on the PDA and RealVNC as the server portion on the PC. It works really well over a 3G connection, and bit slower on GPRS.
Please RDMPlus

it must be work ,just be shure to put the ip that cmd/ipconfig gives you, look that your internet security(firewall) dont blok your connection, try port 4230 if it dont work with 3230 on both machines (pc and hd),set password 1111 to try on both devices, dont forget to set the download folder in both devices, search in google for port forwarding on your router if you work with?
the first time i use it it was working, then i reflash and it was not working anymore!!!!i do need to reflash then it was working again????do you have flash/reflash the rom or another rom to try?
let me know because it must be work
succes
I have tried countless setting on both my mobile and my PC, still no luck with these suggested programs.
I'm no pc genius but i am pretty sure i have all the correct ports open on my firewall and router however i am not getting anywhere with this connection.
Can anyone please link me to a comprehensive guide on the issue?
Hi Guys,
I would like to use my Arthemis as a webcam on my pc. I use linux as the primary os. Could you please explain if this is possible?
Thanks
Lhrt
for windows there is the program called webcamera plus from ateksoft (no freeware)
this program works with a app on the phone and a driver on the pc, maybe it is possible to get this driver working on linux? (i'm not a linux guy )
Problem is these require Activesync installed on the pc for the cam to work and Activesync will not work on Linux.
Googled my way into this thread, and I have the same problem.
I also got an idea here. Couldn't the phone simply stream the video over the network or bluetooth? In this case all it would take is basically a "http v4l" driver.
What do you think?

Yeah, I think that will do the job. Do know any app stream the cam to bluetooth or wifi?
May seem kind of weird and you may be asking why I want to do this.
I have a little minitop PC set up and hooked into a TV. The way it's layed out, a mouse and keyboard would not fit in at all. It seems logical I can somehow use the evo as the mouse and/or keyboard on demand.
I see two general possibilities...
1) Using Bluetooth (I'd assume it would be using an AOSP rom such as Cyanogens because of the BT stack)
2) Some sort of remote desktop software that *doesn't* log out the computer once the evo logs in. Windows built in remote desktop is great, however when you log in remotely it brings the computer to the login credentials screen where it says someone now is logged into the computer.
What do you guys think? Is it a possibility?
Have you tried Gmote? I think it's exactly what you are looking for.
-Sent from the XDA app
install a VNC agent on your PC and use a VNC client on your android like android VNC.
Thank you guys, I'm trying out both as we speak =)

Ive been browsing the market for a Remote Desktop for my Archos 101. There are so many to choose from that Im non the wiser.
Has anyone got any recommendations to help choose?
I have been using this one for a while now, i bought it on my Nexus one and now i use it on my Archos 101 as well.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/remote-rdp/org.toremote.serversmanager
You do need to change the resolution a bit, but the good thing is that you can change it just so the menu bar with home/back etc is not overlapping the remote desktop.
It works fine through Wireless Lan for me, never really tested it with 3G.
Been on the pricy side though..
Teamviewer works well and you dont need to open up ports on your firewall to use it. I use it to manage all my servers from the Archos as well as my media pc at home.
My favorite is the one made by Xtralogic. Very solid RDP client

That looks good. Currently in Beta I see. Do you have to load anything onto your PC in order to access it?

Yes.
I tried it a few weeks ago, but I find it much too slow, I am using vnc on my local network and logmein for when I am on the road. I still need to check out logmein on my 101. androidvnc on the 101 works nice and fast for being on an android platform.

Remote VNC Pro by Walter Yongtao Wang, in the market. I've used it for a while now on my tablet and phone with Real VNC on my PCs, mostly through SSH tunnels. Rock solid.
edit: I see that it's the same author as the RDP client recommended by Wiebbe above. Walter's got it together.
I just tried teamviewer. It was very simple to set up, but is a little slow. But considering its doing it over the web then its not bad at all.
Im going to try out the other recommendations too.
With the VNC apps, do I have to load someting on my PC too. I looked at the stuff by Walter but couldnt tell if I needed a PC app too.
Not sure why you guys are reporting it as being slow. I used VNC for years prior to Teamviewer...both RealVNC and UltraVNC. Teamviewer is about the same speed if not a little faster. It's not as fast as RDP, but it is a lot less of a hassle to setup.
You do know you can change the performance, right? Under options you can set remote control to optimize for speed and remove wallpapers.
There is also an unattended server program you load on the PC you want to control. Otherwise you have to load the main program and run it every time. I mean really it is like VNC without needing to do all the port forwarding and firewall crap on the back end.

Yes, you need a VNC server program. There are several to choose from and they are free. I have used RealVNC for years. VNC and RDP are both standard protocols.
remote desktop.apk maybe you need it...
xD
I'm looking for an application and software that i can use in order to present/view my android screen on my mac like the one that google is using on their keynote and presentations. All the actions will be from the mobile phones and the screen on the computer will show what i'm doing on my phone. I'm using Galaxy Nexus with 4.2. I have found the droid at screen but is too slow to update the screen on the computer. i have tested and the androidscreencast but it doesn't work and also the VMLite VNC Server. They told me about MHL to HDMI adapter but id don't work because i dont want to show the screen direct to the projector. I want to show it from macbook pro which is going to be used the one available HDMI cable of the projector.
Does anyone knows any other application? I prefer an application which is using usb cable but are welcome also solutions using for wifi.
Thanks a lot
What was the error with our VMLite VNC Server? we have many other users using the same model w/o issues. You may need to download our latest free desktop program to start the server via USB for Android 4.2.2.

can you provide me with a download link please?

the vnc server apk is not free, but if your device is not rooted, you need to use the above free desktop program to start. and it requires VMLite VNC Server 1.2 to work, anything prior to 1.2 version won't work.
