Have changed it but am not on stock
Why dont you make a nandoid backup and try it. I am curious myself. Find ro.sf.lcd_density in build.prop and try changing it to different values. Oh, and post some screenshots if you can
I tried that but then the Google Play goes haywire with compatibility issues and the home screen and app drawer do not cover up the whole screen :crying:
I am running 400 on stock
No issues with play
Some stock apps such as remote ,force closes

hey guys
i'm using trip's cm10 rom (011) and i enjoy it really.
but i just want the hybrid bar from PA so bad
i dont want to have another dpi or tablet mode, just the hybrid bar.
is there a way i can include it?
Hmmmm. Try this: flash PA. After cusromizing accounts etc. get into app settings. Set it up to phone mode. Then, try to find interface/SystemUI app. Set the DPI to 220. Reboot and tell if it works.

Wont the DPI 220 break his market? (for some apps unsupported DPI)
i thought more about a flashable zip, because i like trips rom for his active kernel development.
in my opinion PAs hybrid bar is one of his biggest goddies in his rom, so it wouldnt be easy to get him to share it..

No, because PA sets the dpi per application not system-wide, so he's only changing the dpi that SystemUI displays in. The dpi set in build.prop isn't touched so the market works as normal.
So I just tried out SlimBean for the GS3 and it works great. It fixes some of the annoyances I was having with CM9/10.
SlimBean allows the user to change the DPI settings (assuming through the build.prop file). The default value makes everything very small and would be great if all my widgets were justified correctly.
Does anyone know what DPI setting I should use to have the stock look & feel/icon size? From what I can tell the default is 241...
Do it in steps of 2 what i mean first 243 dpi then 245 etc until you found the perfect dpi

I totally agree. You want to take it real slow when editing the DPI. I would make a backup first before even thinking about changing anything like that.
320 is a good one. You can go to developer settings and change it instead of using the build prop editor.
Did a nandroid backup and stepped through a few different DPI settings. Turns out 320 is what I was looking for.
Thanks for the help.

Fwiw, 320 is the default, from the factory setting

under which header is it? I don't see it there.
Easy fix(without messing with build.prop): Definitely nandroid backup first. Then download this app: TexDroider DPI.
Worked wonders for me just now. Everything looks great at 320 dpi. It was previously 220.
What do people think the optimum dpi is for this device? On the samsung galaxy s4 I often used 360 or 340 dpi.
240 max! Probably closer to 180 would be best imo

Have you tried 180 on this phone.... it's tiny. Even 240

Touchwiz and SystemUI crashes when I tried 240. Currently using 350 with decent results. (If only the dialer scaled properly.)

Those are the DPI numbers for the Note 2 which will not work on this phone given the screen is very different.

Using 340 right now myself and and it works well. I don't use Buiild.prop to do it so I don't have problems with the dialer. I use Xposed to set it on a per app basis.
How do you change DPI?

Either by editing build.prop (this will cause scaling issues with touchwiz apps like the dialer) or by using app settings
You're going to need root access and the Xposed framework see here
Using App settings will allow you to change DPI on a per app basis.
320 is working well for me.
I will give 320 a try as well. I switched to a build prop edit for 340 and using closed to switch dialer, contacts, and gallery back to 480.

I really wish we could just recenter the dialer because I really can't stand how big it is, even at 440. Or even just make it scale to the right side instead of left lol.

It's easier to use App settings to control DPI on a per app basis.

Sorry, didnt specify i meant to fix the keyboard at 380 dpi, already changed back to original dpi
Needs the swiftkey devs to fix i think. Issue has been there for years
Use 320 instead of 380
Less apps will look funky
What is the stock DPI?
Last I played with DPI was the ability to have per-app adjustments in Paranoid Android, and more recently as part of an Xposed module.
Changing the DPI system wide always used to cause system apps to play up, and apps to vanish from the play store. Do these problems still exist?

no root needed
adb shell dumpsys display | grep mBaseDisplayInfo

to change it run this from adb
adb shell wm density NEW_DPI && adb reboot
