The GS3 has that capability. Simultaneous Voice and EvDo Data.
This, for some reason, has been abandoned on newer devices, such as GS4, HTC One, etc. Even the Note II isn't capable of it.
They are capable of LTEvDo.

Wow I picked up a great phone then

Yes, and one of the reasons the GS3 may have a long life....especially with about 20 million units sold.

The S4 doesn't have voice/data simultaneously? Oh wow what a load of crap. The S3 will remain better in my eyes. I use this feature constantly.

This was interesting since I could care less to read about devices I do not have. So I just looked it up and you can only do it on LTE or Wifi but you can't have voice and simultaneously use data while on 3g. My OG Epic could do it on 4g or wifi but never on 3g.

Good to know that you don't care, I didn't post it for you. And again, it's not only on LTE or wifi, can't speak for 3g, though because I haven't run into anything less than 4g, which handles voice and data just fine whether it be MMS, browsing, or downloading. Good to know that Sprint still sucks though, I'm sure your assumption of superiority comes from assuming Sprint sets the bar for other networks.

Wow nice, take a reading course since that wasn't meant towards you. I made the first post saying I had no idea the s4 didn't support svdo. You commented on that you can on your note. So I decided to do some research, my remarks clearly are just stating that I would never have read up on other devices since I'm not a user if them so I don't care to read about their specs.
Now since your are an A## I will point out that you have a device and know nothing about it. To come on and say "'I do it all the time"' when clearly your device does not support Svdo is just plain noobness.
And your stating "And again, it's not only on LTE or wifi, can't speak for 3g"
If it's not only then what else you have some magical data that no one else has? YOUR DEVICE DOES NOT SUPPORT SVDO that's the fact. Read and learn.
Technically your device is big for nothing because it can't do what mine can:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
EDIT: I did post it for you and included a link so you could educate yourself on what you carry around everyday.

The SGS3 can use data and voice at the same time on 3G, the Note 2 can not. Its that simple. Every other phone can do it in 4G and WiFi.

If you're on a GSM variant of the Note II, it is possible to use 3G and data at the same time. You cannot be on 3G data and voice simultaneously on a Note II that's CDMA. The chipset doesn't allow it. You can be on 4G and voice at the same time.

No real point in upgrading to a sprint lte phone right now as there is no lte towers. You will be stuck with sprints slow 3g. Best to stick with the e4gt until the galaxy siii comes out.

You are right. However in my house I have no 4G except upstairs window. When home just keep wifi on and use my own internet. Even 3G and calls iffy in house. Without my Airwave my phone would be a brick most of time. Hope so called Network Vision improves coverage. I have no idea when lte is turned on if that will be any better than my current wimax 4g.

Have you played with both phones at the same time. Also are you bored with your phone? These are reasons to upgrade and of course do YOU think its worth it to you to upgrade. I have seen I love Gnex threads and I returned my Gnex threads, at the end of the day its really your preference. Go to Best Buy and check them all out... Jus' My Opinion

I made a thread about this the other day too because I have an upgrade so I went down to the sprint store and played with the Gnex and I dont know if there was something wrong with that one or what but it ran like ****! Force closes everywhere, could not get facial unlock to work. I just installed ICS Hydra rom on my E4GT and it runs SOOO much better than the Gnex. I also talked to a sprint employee and they said the E4GT is far superior. I wouldn't do it!

I thought the simultaneous-ness was due to the S4 Snapdragon and it's radio's being placed in different places.
I had this work on my HTC EVO LTE
WHAT??!! This was huge on the S3. Man, I'm thinking twice about upgrading to the Note2 now.
This phone really can't do simultaneous voice+data? Exynos fail.
I believe Sprint 3G never support simulteneous voice/data. When you make a call data drop to 2G. That said, 4G WiMax can be use with voice. I believe LTE is or will be also, but I don't remember for sure.

To each their own, but the simultaneous voice and data was a nicety, not a necessity.
Sent from the second version of a hefty "Note" pad.
I was thinking about getting the S3 because of this, but I'm almost always around Wifi at home & work. The phone can do voice & data assuming it has either a Wifi or LTE connection, right?
Also and somewhat related, is the Note 2 HD voice ready? I'll be moving to an LTE covered area in the near future, so I'm REALLY hoping for a yes on this.

The assumption here is that when LTE hits "our" market, you will be able to do this correct?
For me, I assist my kids' soccer teams. There is nothing like having a parent call you for directions and being able to mark their current location then provide real time directions from their current location.
So, yes, to "some" of us it is important.
Deal breaker, no, "if" its coming.

I agree that it's not a huge deal. Just an annoyance. Sometimes I am downloading small files from internet on 3g at work(no Wi-Fi ) and receive a call. If I answer, download fails, so I either can't answer the call or have to restart download. With my slow 3g that is kind of a pain in ass.

Having left Apple after being an iPhone owner since the 3rd generation, I can say that I am neither jealous or a hater... But, not having Voice and Data is just "stupid" especially when it was on the S3, which I would venture to guess is where a lot of Note 2 users will be migrating from... Just my 2cents...

For what it's worth, I did overhear a T-Mo representative say their LTE services will be launching in select markets within the next few months. This is in line with their 2013 dates, so I didn't question it too much.
This was at a retail store in the ghetto of St. Louis, so I don't take it for much more than hearsay from him.
Maybe L stands for lite or little? As in s3 mini?

This is irrelevant, this phone will probably be release around the same time as the S4 which I'm sure will come with LTE by then.
I heard that LTE is already being tested in some secret areas, I think I saw it on Tmo News.
I would pass on this and wait on what's to come.
Powered by the SGSIII
Tmobile isn't even ready for lte yet, they are testing it so it wouldnt matter if our phones got LTE capability now.
Plus like one of the previous posters said, we are getting up to like 25mbps of 4g and i download huge movies very quickly and stream netflix and youtbe hd without any problems so just what is the point for super fast LTE? IT'S pointless for now for my smartphone. Pretty soon when the world begins to stream bluray 50gb movies then LTE will come in handy but for now when most movies are like 4gb or less no need for lte for me.

Most companies (who offered service in D.C.) already had 4G in D.C. whether it was HSPA+ or LTE.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
First of all, thanks for calling me an "absolute idiot". If you read my post, I clearly spelled out "Washington, DC." That's not the problem. The problem, as I already explained, is "DC 4g" by itself is vague. I was hoping for something related to DC-HSPA+ (a different type of 4G that's not LTE, but comparable in speeds), not DC the state. If I had knew that the post would be about DC the state, I wouldn't have clicked it, because I don't live anywhere near, or care about, DC the state. Heck, if you wrote "Possible 4g testing in DC", then that would solve it, and without insulting anyone's intelligence (See? Now I know what DC means!). Even better, tag it with "[Sprint]" so that those of us on Verizon or GSM carriers can ignore it! Fewer trolls in your thread, more happiness all around. Win-win.
TL;DR: I didn't like the thread title. If I were mod, I would edit it, but I'm not. Instead, I asked politely and get called a moron. Good job.
You should probably find something more important to gripe about other than the few seconds you lost looking at this. Your time can't be that valuable considering how much time you have put into griping about it. The mods likely have more important things to concern themselves with than your individual confusion.
As for Sprint 4g in DC, it's been in some parts for about 2 months now. Started around 14th & U and spread from there. Some in MD and VA around DC. Check out Sensorly.com and S4GRU.com for more information.

Any word on premium features

Any word on premium features coming to the phone after s4 release. I'm not blown away with s4, so I might try to make it one more phone cycle.
Also, any way to get a bit more out of the camera? That's been my biggest disappoint with the phone. I know the s4 has a better sensor, but from what I'm reading, it's processing is not stellar.

I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue
Had no idea today was release day. Can't wait for it to post, or of course to come ota.
Thanks.
Kind of cool that Sprint is releasing this on S4 day. Its in their best interests, since very very few S3 users will upgrade...just some of the devs and fanboys, I suppose.
Once I get it, I could care less about the S4.

I agree. I have one more year on my contract and my S3 is in good condition. No hurry to drop full price in a S4 aka S3s lol

Also, the S3 is the last phone to support SVDO (simulataneous voice and 3G data)
At least from the looks of it anyway, seeing that the S4 and HTC One only have SVLTE

All phones have SV4G/WiFi be they LTE or WiMax. And yes SVDO is going the way of the dodo as the new 1x-advanced band will allow for SV3G without the added hardware.

I like to break stuff!
Yes, but as of now, 3G is everywhere LTE isn't (and for a long time to come for a lot of people). Some never even saw WiMax in it's lifespan.
Sorry if I didn't read this correctly, but we just get multi Window?

Yeah but the thing is, when its added at the source level (Java code thats then compiled into all the Touchwiz apps and framework) it tends to be much more stable than if we hack it in
