Which CPU Governor do you use? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello GN2 Users,
So I've recently been playing with my CPU settings and I've been messing with different governors.
My question to you all is which governor do you like to use and why?
I like On Demand because it seems to give me the same performance with better battery life. But this is purely observation. I haven't done any benchmarking to actually test it yet.
Please add your input!

i like lulzactive with zen, or powersave with noop

Sorry about that. Where would the proper place for this be?
What do you use to toggle different governors? I use ROM Toolbox Pro, and it doesn't have the ZEN or many of the other Android governors that I've read about. Is there a way to add new governors?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium

Govs are part of your kernel. ..not your control app.
Different roms will contain those kernel governors, or you could find a compatible kernel to go with your current rom....g

Just post in Q&A sections.
Yes, not sure if your kernel support it. I use the same app, ROM toolbox pro but you can also give NO FRILLS CPU a try too

Few pointers: why do you have swap? We don't need bloody swap in this devices. BFQ scheduler? BFQ is for rotational devices, we have flash devices. Why SLAB and no SLQB or SLUB? Why smartass2? Smartass2 isn't working good, even after changing the tunables for SMP. Why interactiveX? We already have interactive and it already has a built-in sysfs screen off freq parameter. Lagfree governor? It looks like Minmax to me.
Merry christmas!
i don't have any tech knowledge about kernels and such so i can't comment on franco's input but i have to agree with lordofcamster;
i'm too running the latest MCR release and together with this kernel the thing is really smooooth; oc'ed at 1350 ( 1125 uv ) with interactiveX governor
batterylife seems pretty ok too; i'm trying to drain the battery to see how much screen time i can get...
so far 2hrs + some minutes screen on and i'm down to 56% battery;
( in between i restarted the phone 5 times )
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does tuna refer to?

Well, the kernel is rather new. So no rapports yet. So stating the battery life isnt great, is premature

Heres my opinion: with this kernel, lags all over Settings, switching apps, market. But scrolling pages in menu is fine. Cant test battery atm as im almost out and need a recharge
OVERALL: u defo getting there but we need some minor tweaks here and there. Im so sorry that i cant help much as im not a kernel master but those r just my 2 cents

Governers ? where can i get them ?

hi all
i use franco kernel and PA 2.17
and i realized i have very little governers , interactive , ondemand , wheatley , lazy and performance , i use wheatley currently and to be honest i don't know what it does ...and i wanted to get more governers eg , smartass v2 etc ...but how?
thanks

you only get the governors that are included in your kernel. you want more governors, convince francisco. or, find him, then tickle him until he folds

I'm not adding any more governors, the ones that are included are the only that are useful, sorry.
that means youre only left with tickling him into it. sorry
oh nevermind then i though you can add them at will sorry for asking though

I lol'd at the title. Oh but if you want a governor like smartassv2 I'd use interactive governor.

Nyan colonel has lots to play with including moar governors. Marcusant is the bomb, I used his stuff from the original Epic 4G, always a step ahead when we had a flood of ROM leaks.
Edit: forgot there are diff versions of this phone lmao this is my second Android phone, big change.

CPU governors.

Alright this will be short and to the point.
can you add governors to a ROM?
i prefer using "Scary" but most ROMs ive flashed only have a couple govenors, and non are the one i wish to use.
Question is. how can i add the "Scary" governor to my ROM.
i literally know nothing more about governors other than what each one does.
so if you can elaborate a bit.
No. The kernel has the govener. Find out which kernel has that, and flash it to your Rom. Make sure if your Rom is sense, only use sense kernels. Same for aosp

Scary governor is WIP. It will give almost the same performance as conservative right now.
So if you prefer that governor, just select conservative. You won't notice the difference.

SmartassV2 or Lulzactive

Hello guys what do you think which is the best governor for battery life and performance with ROW I/O scheduler? SmartassV2 or Lulzactive? Thanks
Actually, it depends, on you.
I can't say SmartAssV2 is the best vice versa. Because even if we have the same type, same ROMs, and same apps, and same usage. There will be a difference of how we feel about it. You'll have to try those 2 all by yourself.
As for me, I use SAv2.. It seems lulzactive didn't go well with me.
--Ancora/CM9RC4--
For me, i prefer on smartassv2 because some lulzctive in the governor of wonder are less tweaked than smartassv2 that is for my opinion though.
If i'm not mistaken custom kernels on wonder default governor are most likely smartassv2, why not lulzactive? Because maybe is not ready yet or not tweaked enough to beat the smartassv2 for now.
This is just my opinion though.

SmartAss V2 is a big batteruly waste for me... I don't know why buy i think that the Governor will jump to almost MAX frequency when i touched the screen.... Why is it occuring like this?

I got my wonder stolen man, so i just brought my sensation 2 weeks ago
And now i'm back although i didn't have wonder but i love all wonder users in here so i'll still stick around and try to help the best i can
And also i help my friend who use wonder too so yeah i still can test all about this wonderfully wonder development and such

Both are actually very good governors imho. I just prefer Lulzactive as I have better battery life with it.

Individual CPU governor apps

Am I the only one that's aware of this? Many devs reccomend apps like setcpu and such, but none support separate governers for dual core or quad core. The app "kernel tuner" does let you change the governor on each core (only two for us), and I've noticed by changing governor with most kernel apps that it only changes the first cores governor. Why is there such a lack in per-core control? I find this should be known to all.
Sent from infamous Galaxy SII X
Interesting...
I thought so too, also most apps that change the kernel frequency only affect the first core as well.
Sent from infamous Galaxy SII X
Not totally true. Most kernels link the two so changing the freq or gov will change it across the board. Also the stock CM/AOSP kernel does this along with the stock based twiz kernels.
But some don't.. And may require a different CPU controller.

Was only sharing my findings thanks !

The first core does 90% of the work load anyway, so performance gain would be negligible in the end.
there is no spoon.....

Agreed, the latest Cerux kernel lists a feature that links the frequencies of both cores automatically. FYI from checking many kernel releases they almost unanimously advise against using different govs on each core citing major performance issues.
But from what I understand you are correct in that some performance management apps would only affect the frequency of one core unless the kernel forces it such as Cerux does.
