hi peeps , ok i want to do the nand unlock (s-off)and have gone to the alpharev site i have read that you can do it via pc or you can download and flash via phone .. so i just wanted to ask if what im doing is right before i do it ..
ok so i downloaded the pb99img bravo oxygen ( i presume this is the right one as i have oxygen 2.0 rc6 ) or does that have nothing to do with it lol ... i have renamed it PB99IMG.zip.. do i now put on sd card reboot into bootloader/hboot whatever its called and flash it from there .. or am i totally wrong and need some super guidance lol
thanks for any reply's in advance
More reading, you are talking about flashing a different partition layout. Before you can do that you need to S-off. If the instructions on the AlphaRev site are not cleat to you i suggest you don't S-off until you understand what is on there.
This might get you started on how to S-off.
I would suggest using the 'CD method'. It's super, super easy and it takes just a few minutes.
It's as easy as this, and bingo you have S-OFF.

Or CD version
1.download Alpha Rev.iso
2.burn .iso image to CD using a iso burning software eg. Power ISO
3.boot from CD eg. Hold F12 at boot
4.press the Legendary enter
TIPS connect USB when the CD has booted
Any problems just pm me

Nero Burnlite will suffice. And a DVD will be fine.
i used ImgBurn..
you can use CD or DVD
ok i installed imgburn ... sorry for all questions but if ya dont ask ya dont find out
do i write image file to disk
or files folders to disk ??
then once done reboot pc and hold f12 , then something will come up like when you go into recovery /factory reset . then choose the file etc and send to usb ?????
you write the .ISO image to CD.
the download is immediately above the MD5 sum on the alpharev site.
check the MD5 sums as well before burning it.

It will give you a set of options, if you have a USB plugged in it will ask if you want to boot from that if you have an OS installed on it (I have Linux on a USB drive). Then it will ask you if you want to boot from CD, or the hard drive. Obviously you want to boot from the CD, it will load Linux, and auto install S-OFF to your phone.
thanks chaps for your help , i have successfully s -offed , thanks for all the info and help

Awesome. I'd suggest changing HBOOT table now. You can shuffle around the NAND and increase the space for installable apps, you can get anything from ~150 meg to ~350 megs depending on the OS installed.
lol whats hboot table ??? i only have apps with widgets saved to internal memory and i have a 750mb partition on my sd for apps

It allocates the system, cache and data partitions. By default a Sense ROM uses about 280megs of the internal ROM, and in contrast the Oxygen ROM I use uses about ~65Mbs, so you have ~210Mbs of unused space that can't be written to. The new HBOOT tables reconfigure the space so you can use the unneeded System space as Data which will give you an extra ~210Mbs for apps.
When I installed the Oxygen RC's I deleted my EXT3 partition on my SD card and just piled the apps on over to the phone.
oh ok mate . thanks but i really dont think im ever going to have millions of apps so im quite happy with just putting widget apps to internal and other to sd .. it will do for me as its not to technical lol
anyway thanks for all the help today take it easy chap

i was just reading over this again so does that mean for eg : on titanium backup it says at bottom internal 154mb (free 88mb) if i was to do this table thing would it then say internal 364 mb as its going to add approx 210mb and then free would be 276mb or something along those lines lol, or is it kind of like where you partition the sd its unseen but still using it ?

If you were to change the hboot table for oxygen say . Would it brick ph if I flashed a sense rom without changing the hboot back? Or does it change the table to suite?

You will need to change the table back, it only gives you 90 something Mbs for Oxygen, and Sense is a good 250Mbs. It won't brick the device but you won't have a working OS I would guess as it would fail to load. As long as you had a nandroid of the AOSP ROM you could just restore, otherwise you'd have to factory reset to get it working again.
Hi all,
I wann try Sandvolds ICS with my aged Desire, but apps are starting very slow and there are often FCs.
I read the dev thread very carefully, thats why i bought an class 10 micro sd card.
I'm running cm7r2 hboot with stock kernel and stock a2sd and a 2gb ext4 partition.
cache2sd enabled
dalvikcache2sd enabled
ive tried nearly everything.
Thx
Okay I just disabled cache2sd and it seems a lil bit faster, but not really satisfying.
Has anybody same troubles??

The only thing it changes is the space for /system and /data

It means more system related files can be put on the internal memory instead of the sd card. Which means faster reaction time compared to your phone reading those system related files on the sdcard

Yep, I got that...
but as I understand a2sd right, all data will be moved to /sd-ext/data and linked to /data or /app. Correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway, things are getting more and more complicated.
After disabling cache2sd im not able to install apps from store. Play store tells me not enough space...
Sorry... I can install apps, but the update for google maps wasn't successfull
Sorry for all that stupid questions, but i really want ICS

1) Do a full wipe. Boot, system, data, dalvic, cache.
2) Flash Data++
3) Flash ICS and enable A2SD
It's not healthy to mess around with those settings once it's already been installed. Jus' sayin'.

Hi all,
today i've added the cache2sd option in the a2sd script again.
for non obvious reson, i can update/install all apps again and my desire is now fast as it was pronounced in the dev thread.
i dunno what changed... soo?!
anway thx 4 the help
I had this issue, it was to do with the way I was installing a2sd. My apps took a little while to load or occasionally would pop up with a not responding messaging asking to close or wait. Usually if you clicked wait the app would load up.
Basically when you install a2sd on the terminal it asks you if you want to move apps data if you click no to it you'll find that apps will start loading quicker.
That worked for me, now every time I flash the updates to ICS I do it that way and my apps have been fine.

Hi,
the weird thing is, i enabled all 2sd options, like in the first try and now it works lika a charm
Weird, the main thing is it's working though I guess!
Hi, I was trying to make some free space on my Desire, and now I have a phone that, I can't boot. I can only get into AlphaRev Unlock or what it is called.
Long time ago I followed this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_(GSM):_Full_Update_Guide
and today I installed simple2ext (after reading some threads in here), to try to gain more space, as I was running very low on internal memory.
I moved the dalvik cache and the applications to sd card, and the phone asked for a restart. Thats where I'm stuck now.
The phone just keeps hanging at the HTC boot logo, but if I hold "vol. down" + power button I can get into AlphaRev Unlock. But now I don't know what to do.
I hope someone out there can help me, as I seriously need my phone to be working.
- have you done a nand-backup?
- did you save your apps (for example with titanium backup)?
- do you have an ext3 or ext4 partition on your sd-card?
I would recommend a full-wipe (cache+dalvik)!! (you will lose your data if you did not do a backup!!!!!!!!!!!)

How do I do that? At this point, I don't give a rats a.. for my data. If I can't boot the phone, my data is lost anyway.
Turn off ur phone then hold volume down + power. Then using volume buttons to move up or down the menu, select recovery and press power button to select and wipe options r there in recovery

Well if I select recovery, all it does is to go into "fastboot usb"

Yes
Ok go to Desire Q&A/ Stickies (first post) and thats bortak's troubleshooting guide. Go down to [2] s-on, and follow that.

Great that worked, though it was a little strange, as I allready tried that RUU (but another file), and it failed.
Well, now I got a worked phone again.
Can you recommend a guide to properly rooting my phone, so I can full backup and so?
Even if I made an ext partition on the memory card, it seemed like most apps where installed on the internal memory.
Glad it worked
There is a guide in Desire Android development, 3 r 4 posts down. (stickies)

Hello,
I installed on my Desire with STOCK HBOOT Sandvold ICS in the Version 0.17.1.1. I choosed stock a2sd in the installation and active in terminal a2sd install. Then I restored my apps by Mybackup Root. I have now the problem if I want to install a app from the market I get the error message "No Disk space available" (or something like that, I'm using German language).
I have a 512mb ext4 partition and activate a2sd in Terminal. I searched the topic for problems like that and found that I have to install mount2sd. I did this, but it didn't help either.
What should I do now? I haven't enough posts to post in the sandvold ics topic.

I had exactly the same problem. At first I chose during flashing the option "Regular a2sdext" as it seems good to me. However, nothing has changed, it was not working for me at all. Then I reflashed again with "Stock a2sd" and after booting I went to terminal and activated it. I tried it with several combinations (in some of them I got the message "Insufficcient storage available" and I only had like 5 apps installed...). At the end I finally made it work with the combination that is recommended by Sandvold - Y N Y. After that I have been installing several apps and my internal memory does not go down almost at all :good:... I will see later, but for now, this is the best set up for me....
I had this problem
I had this problem with one application. When installing from market, there'd be a pop up message saying that there was no more storage space even though there was plenty.
A few hours later, everything went back to normal and I managed to install all the apps I wanted.
(Side question: have you guys updated to Sandvold ICS 0.18 Beta?! I have, but I lost root access, so now I'm trying to regain it. Could someone alert Sandvold? I'm a new member and I can't post to 'Android development forums")

I have been testing 0.18 for a few hours now. Your phone issues should be resolved except you will encounter a new issue. You will lose superuser privilliges, to restore this, you have to install a zip of superuser through recovery.

I had 0.17.1.1 and all was well, it was tiny bit laggy, but overall it was cool.
i updated to 0.18, and I lost root access: the apps requesting SuperUser premissions were denied. (If you don't know what root access is, please google it)
As iyf said, you can flash the zip provided in Sandvold's official thread to restore root access. Check page 1601 or so for the flashable zip that will restore root access. I did so, and regained root access.
Then I got back all my apps as Sandvold 0.18 is my daily driver. But as I was using it, I noticed that whenever you change something in the system settings, it does not apply immediately. For example, I want my phone to lock immediately when it goes to sleep, well it simply doesn't. The power menu lost a few of the shortcuts it had in 0.17.1.1 (sound profiles...) and even if you restored them in the system settings, it won't change.
All in all, 0.18 is great step in terms of stability and reactiveness. No more scroll lag, apps open seamlessly, and no more 3G signal problems. The camera still isn't working though. Nevertheless, bizarrely the system lost its coherence: the system settings are not immediately applied and used, and the screen just won't lock. Those are the problems I encountered this afternoon.
I hope Sandvold takes a look at this thread as I cannot post on the official ROM thread coz I just registered on XDA.
(My Home button died today, even if I press it really hard, it won't respond, but I think it's a hardware issue)
EDIT: About the no more space issue, I had this today even though there was plenty of space left. I rebooted the phone and the warning disappeared.

Superuser is out of order with this issue so that I can't activate A2SD

By full wipe you mean:
1. wipe data/factory reset
2. wipe cache
3. wipe dalvik cache
4. wipe battery stats
right?
I always do that when I flash a new ROM... Anyway, will try again later and hope that it works.

Can I ask you how do you merge and format ext4 ?
Actually, I'm using MiniTool Partition Wizard, is it okay ?
cause I did reboot after I saw the message, but didn't work.

quite confusing

It's not okay, minitool doesn't do that correctly. Use 4ext recovery to partition your sd card.

Quite confusing indeed. I must say I'm no expert developer or programmer, heck I'm an engineering student. i just experiment on my Desire. But my experience in bricking/unbricking/flashing/etc tells me the following:
Minitool wizard apparently is not okay. I used it at first too but my Desire just could not read or detect the EXT3 partition I created. I tried EXT4. I tried different roms and scripts, none worked for me. (To be honest, I only tried 3 roms and a few scripts).
What I used is plain simple: Clockworkmod Recovery partitioning tools. It works for me!
First restore your SD card to full FAT32 configuration (I might suggest changing the basic storage unit from a few bytes to a few kilobytes as it might increase SD card responsiveness).
BACK IT UP, you will lose everything on it when you partition it in CWM.
Boot into recovery and select partition SD card (It is advised that the size of your partition does not exceed 1.5 GB as a few ROM developers have pointed out - not Sandvold though- I use 512 MB, which is more than enough for me). Set SWAP to 0 Bytes. (i have no idea what swap is, should google it, but most threads advise a swap of 0 B).
That's it, you have your partition.
I use CWM and Sandvold 0.18. If you use this setup, everything should be okay, at least it's ok on my phone.
I use stock a2sd when flashing Sandvold ICS ROMs.
I'm on stock HBOOT, S-OFF, and using the regular Kernel that comes with Sandvold 0.18. (I tried tiamat, but the battery dies after half a day of use!)

I use stock a2sd when flashing Sandvold ICS ROMs.

just to add - I have Amon RA Recovery and I partitioned my SD card by that, it was also working without any problems everytime I did it...
@CzarD - I am glad to hear that the wipe helped you...
You should try out the Amarullz or INT2SD from the Aroma installer. I have INT2SD and I have 1,3G of free space (2G EXT partition)

As I know, swap in linux is somewhat like virtual memory in Windows.
Will be launched when the system is in low memory.
That's exactly everything I know
I'm now Using Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4, stock HBOOT, S-OFF
And just follow your way to full wipe then install the system again(stock a2sd)
I still can't get the root access. thus, I can't activate a2sd in terminal
PS: with Beta 0.18
But Beta 0.17.1 currently work!
hi guys, I am having trouble with my MI Max having 32GB internal memory.
From it's behaviour for last few days I have inferred it's system partition is the culprit.
On stock miui rom, it gives msg that encryption unsuccessful and I need to factory reset it. But even after doing factory reset it shows the same msg.
Its with locked boot loader but referring one thread I could install twrp latest version on it by replacing recovery image in stock rom and flashing with mi flash tool in edl mode.
So with two I tried installing few vision rooms like miui eu ROM, RR and crdroid based on Oreo. All the rooms while flashing fine error E1001, saying system image not updated and flashing failed.
I even tried repairing file system, fixing file system, Channing file system to fat, exfat, ext2, ext3, ext4 and f2fs several times (from advanced wipe menu) but things are not improving. Even tried formatting data partition as it's suggested at few places.
I am out of ideas after spending few days trying to fix it by flashing several times.
So please if some one can assist in resolving the issue, I would really appreciate.
Thank you in advance.
You need to format data not wipe . Go to twrp choose wipe , format data and type yes . Note, by doing this you will lose all of your data if you want to keep it make sure to save it to your PC or USB drive.

As discussed yesterday on unofficial LineageOS (nijel8) thread the nand is damaged. You need to delate partition, compact unallocated space & then recreate the exactly the same partition. That way it won't be on the same spot & it will work.
Use a PC with an partition manager.

Tks a lot for the reply. It gave a ray of hope to me. Though I am hearing modifying partition on android device for the first time to fix it. That too for bricked device and to do it on PC. Is there any thread guiding about it? Would read a bit about how to do it in order to not mess things up even more.

It's still ain't bricked so you can do this relatively easy. When it's bricked EDL programmer for used NAND chip used is needed.
So take a deep breath, see the exact size & type of the partition, delate it, create a new one exactly the same (type, size & name).

The tool I gave you URL is very good documented and with plenty examples & user guides available all which can be found on the site, it uses graphics GUI so it's as easy as it can be. So if you are inexperienced read/watch first how it's done. After you are done flash what you want in TWRP.
Best regards.
What I meant to ask is, how to access partitions of mobile on PC? I have used partitioning app on windows but never for android device. Anyway, as u have clued, I shall try accessing partitions with mobile connected in edl mode.
