+1 to that! I'd love to use AOSP ROMs, but for the dialer and contacts.
Nope not possible.

Is it possible to port the AOSP dialer and contacts (like CM7) to the new GB sense rom leaks?
Thanks!

As far as I know, it's not possible. The contacts/dialer are very integrated into the Sense framework, and I can tell you from personal experience that removing either will completely break the ROM.
Thanks for the reply! I kindof figured that but wanted to see for sure...

Could anyone pull the stock dialer from ICS so we could use it on GB? I really don't like the touchwiz one...

Just sit and think about what your asking.
You need to start reading, ive been seeing you around asking the "Most noob like questions" and its been pissing me off.
Take this message anyway you want, but im telling you now. You should start learning more about the Firmware and skin you are running on your phone.
M&S
You can download the ICS theme for your rom and it will replace the current dialer to the ICS dialer. If that was what you meant..

easy way for you..go to android market......type....exDialer or Go dialer.
Anyone know why or just wonder why Android still can't universally see emoji even in ICS or JB without changing font files? I'm aware that stock ICS and JB have emoji built into their srock messaging app now but why can't all ics see emoji in other apps not just text messaging?

Any rom based off of cm 10 has the support for them although not in color yet. Eventually it'll probably be added in

Thanks. I'm hoping one day (soon) that they'll be in color.

I have an HTC Evo rom with a messaging app that has iOS style, color emoji baked in. The rom was ported from the Galaxy anyway so I don't understand why I can't get it to work. I've only had this phone for 2 days but I feel like the Evo was so much easier.

Are you trying to flash the rom or extract the messaging apk and load it that way? It probably won't work because it's designed for the OG EVO. Sense and TouchWiz are different.

Edit: The app does work, and so does the emoji. But because the apk is different than the one that came with the rom it doesn't show up in the launcher, just the app tray. But I guess this will be my project for my first SGS3 rom.

It's messaging.apk but it was from an AOSP rom. I installed the AOKP Jellybean rom and it has native emoji in the messaging app.
I've been trying a few new roms lately and I really like the LiquidSmoothe rom but I miss the swiping feature in my contact list to make calls and msgs on my stock rom. Is there an app that is similar to that or a good rom that using the swiping contact list. Thanks for your suggetions.
The only roms you will find this on are Touch Wiz roms that use the default dialer and contacts app.

Anyone have a good TouchWiz rom suggestion then? I saw a Beans rom on my friends Note 2 that looked nice but its only on Verizon S3. I would like one built on 4.2.1 and maybe with sphere camera. I liked how the Beans rom let you select if you wanted TouchWiz or AOKP. Help me Obi Wan!

A rom that let's you choose between AOKP and touchwiz... what?
I think what he means is it lets you choose between AOSP theme/launcher and a Touchwiz one. A good touchwiz rom is the JellyBean UCDLK3 The Devils Reject Edition v3, as well as Jellybean747 Version 1. If you really want to keep AOSP and 4.2.1 you can always install the touchwiz launcher/contacts app that will let u swipe across to call/message.

I'd also recommend The Devil's Reject ROM. Stable smooth and quick. I went to it from liquidsmooth after missing Smart Stay too much.

This is hardly a reason to switch to any rom. Just install exDialer from the store and boogie. You can get TW or AOSP style skins and there is an option to swipe left to SMS and swipe right to call the contact from the dialer screen. Just use T9 search from the dialer screen and you're set.
I recommend Darthstalker #X it's my DD and I'm running instigatorX kernel. Excellent battery life very snappy and VERY stable. Then I theme it via morphology it's very, very awesome.:thumbup:
Morphed SIII "Get busy livin or get busy dyin"
I suggest Jedi invasion. It has awesome performance and customization and is a Touchwiz based rom.

I'm running a custom Sense ROM after trying CM (ended up being too buggy for my marvelc phone). I was wondering if the ICS messaging app and JB gallery were ported to marvelc and can be used on my Sense ROM though.
ICS and JB messaging apps cant be ported to a sense rom....to be honest,no one would care to do it

Mind explaining why this is the case?
Well its quite simple actually.....First of all backporting is a very tough job, especially in this case.......the difference between GB and ICS is immense

If not possible, there must be a way to edit the Mms.apk file to make it look like the ICS MMS app at the very least.
