Got my Touch Pro 2 from MObile Phones Direct (in UK) last week Love it so far. But maybe it's meant to happen but when I send an SMS a copy appears in my Inbox with message prefixed by Me:. Wht's this al about then??
Its called "Threaded SMS" and shows your texts as a conversation.
I like it but I know some people don't.
There are ways to turn it off mentioned all over the boards.
i love it
because you can clearly see the history of the last messages and also it harder to get the wrong person you want to write a msg to ..
And how can i delete one message from thread?
thanks...
You can't, that's the special "Don't cheat on your wife"-option HTC has built in ...
No, kidding. When TF3D enabled click on the sms-icon in the bottom bar.
Click on the latest SMS recieved from the person.
You get a threaded SMS with at the bottom a bar in which you can see emails from that person, call history, etc.
Click Menu > Delete
Select the messages to be deleted
Click done
Yesss.
I didnt think that i can use the delete menu item to delete a message...
So a thought it is delete the entire thread.
Thank you!
I received from one person more than 500 text messages but only the number "500" is shown. I'm still getting more messages. But the number doesn't grow.
Messages are there. Just the total number of messages is not shown.
Is that a limitation of Messaging App?
in your messaging settings, you can adjust the max number of text messages
If I got anywhere near 500 message from someone I would block them.

This explains why my GoSMS backup/restore (when I switched phones) doesn't show all the messages I have with my gf.
I made the change in settings, but does anyone know what will happen if I restore the old messages again?
Will all the new ones I've gotten disappear?

No, they are added on. I've done this countless times before, mostly because I flash too many roms.

I keep getting a notification from all the different SMS apps I have tried that is called "Hidden Sender Address". When you click on it, it takes you to the app but not to a message. Chomp SMS indicates it is an MMS message. I cant find any unread message in the stock app or any aftermarket ones.
Regardless, I cant find it to delete and it wont stop showing up in the notification bar. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this?

OP, have you been able to fix this issue? I just received the update to Jellybean and am currently suffering from the same issue. I have tried deleting all messages and clearing the app cache but haven't been able to get rid of this notification.
I'm actually receiving the same false notification and it started today for no reason other than opening an mms. On galaxy s3 CM10 preview
Nope...havent found an official fix. If I use Chomp, it doesnt appear. GO and Handcent and it shows back up anytime I receive a new message.

If you're using a 3rd party messenging app, disable the auto-retrive MMS. Go to Stock messenger and enable auto-retrieve MMS.
I use Chomp and this fixed the problem for me. Hope it helps.

Yes this is how I got around it but I couldnt find the options in Go or Handcent to disable MMS retrieval. So I am stuck with Chomp which is not the best of the three IMO.
Just started getting this today as well on GO SMS. Easiest fix- Option key, More, Mark All Read. Cleared them out for me and the notifications thay wouldn't go away are gone.

In handcent you can go to "receiving message settings" and disable auto retrieve. My sister uses handcent and hasn't received any MMS problems since.
Hey guys. I had this pop up last night after receiving 2 MMS in a row. Setting the auto retrieve off did not fix it but "mark all read" did. Just to let you all know.
I am on Motorola Atrix CM10 4.1.1 using Handcent
I believe there is a feature to mark certain contacts/conversions as secret. That I'd what that notification is. Look in your settings for something that refers to that. Those messages don't go to inbox but separate folder. Think you might have to password them to access.

I think what you are talking about is the private inbox. Those still come up and go away just like normal text messages except they bounce to the private box. That is not what we are talking about here though

Just wanted to say thanks for this. I have a Galaxy S III and started getting this as soon as I got 4.1 on my phone, drove me nuts. Just googled hidden sender address and found this thread.
Hidden Sender Address notification !!!FIX!!!
I was having this problem the other day after installing a jellybean messaging app. It worked fine for a day or so then I started getting "Hidden Sender Address" all the time and then wasn't even able to delete my texts. I would delete the entire conversation and it would still show that there was a conversation there, but it was all empty.
I contacted at&t to see if they had any ideas and the only thing they could come up with was factory reset. Screw that I knew there had to be another way. I'll never trust them completely!
I contacted the creator of the app and this is what he had me do and it did work:
If you have root you can clear the DB by deleting this file (apparently):
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
Of course that will delete all your SMS and MMSs, but you can
(hopefully) back them up to gmail and restore them afterwards using
SMS Backup+.

Why cant he just update the app to fix this issue?
Any news on this fix by the developer?
FIX!!!!
OK Everyone. I have resolved this issue on my Galaxy SIII and your are more than welcome to replicate this but beware, you may lose your SMS history.
First you can either delete all SMS. I didn't want to do this for obvious reasons.
Second, scroll all the way to the bottom of all your SMS. If like me you have oodles of them this might be annoying and take a while. At the bottom I found a sender called 'ANONYMOUS'!!!! Sounds ominous doesn't it.
I deleted this thread and since then I have nto had this message appear. ALTHOUGH.... i lost all my SMS as a result.... LOL whoops. bug time!
Please note. I also disabled auto download MMS, cleared badgeholder cache (which temporarily works), readded SMS icon and disabled google hangout from picking up SMS and neither of these permanently resolved the issue but feel free to try these first as you probably should do as they are non destructive.
:good:
This feels like such a noob question but I'm at a loss. I know group messaging has been baked into the latest release but it doesn't seem to be working right.
I have the group messaging option turned on in my settings and I can send a group text just fine. But when I receive a group message it looks like a normal text message. I can't see who the other recipients are and so I can't respond to anyone but the person who sent that text.
I've noticed the same thing on several different S3 phones running 4.3 so I feel like either I am doing something wrong or "group messaging" doesn't work the way I expect it to. Are we only able to send group texts but not receive them? What gives?
Thanks.

I have the Verizon version of the S3, so I'm not sure if they behave the same. I went into my messing app, hit the menu to get settings and have the option for "Group Conversations" "Send messages as group conversations by default" checked...mine works just fine. When I get a group text, I have an option to switch it from MMS to SMS and have it be an individual text.
I like the badge count feature, a great improvement from android 7.x, but on my s9 the count is not representative of the actual number of unread messages and emails I have- for example, when I get a new text message, the badge count usually says 3, and 3 or 4 unread emails gives me a badge count of between 35 and 45!
Has anyone else had this issue, or any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks!
with the new Android version, the badge count reflects not only NEW notifications but older, unread ones also. That may be the issue.
Thanks for the reply- not that though, I have zero unread messages but it always shows 3 as a badge when I get a new one.
I guess I am the only one with this issue, so maybe a wipe and rebuild is in order
I have same problem on my S9+. Using textra, I have deleted all text messages and still when I get a new message, it shows 2 instead of 1. When using Signal app, the badge rarely if ever even shows any count. All other apps seem to be accurate.
Gmail randomly shows 999 for me..only sometimes
I have this issue, too. Currently ZERO unread messages, but when I get a new text, the counter says "5".
ive come from s7 edge with touchwiz from s8 installed previously and badges there worked as intended (unread count, not notification count).
when i recovered all apps and settings on my new s9 notifications worked the same as on the old phone (unread count). when i reset the device and recovered nothing but messages and contacts it started to act as for every1 (notification count).
Same goes for the samsung keyboard. for freshly set keyboard i dont seem to be able to enable swype typing, when i recover keyboard data from old phone recovery swype get "enabled" tho no option is present in settings
maby there is some hidden option to reenable unread badges again
Badge count incorrect
I've had the same problem with my new Galaxy S9. The badge icon will show 5 new messages, but there will only be 2 or it will show 2 new messages and there will only be 1. And, no there aren't any hidden unread messages. Hopefully, it will get corrected soon.
Same issue

I have the same issue. It started after Telstra sent notification of change to my MessageBank. Message received was
"Your mobile is now Telstra Messaging capable. Your Telstra MessageBank voice mail will now be delivered to the RCS messaging inbox on your device. This feature requires your device to have the latest Android updates. For more information, including control of this feature browse Telstra. com/rcs"
That message was also sent as an audio (MMS)
Then the problems started.
The Message badge shows incorrect numbers - if I have one voicemail it can show as 3 or 4. It shows as 2 or 3 if it is a text message. If I press the Message badge it then shows 2 bubbles. The first grey bubble will say 101 Message Bank - the second white bubble is an audio MMS which can only be played with speaker on.
I have spoken with 8 people in Telstra, and they are still trying to fix. Have tried switching off the Rich Communications in Chat Settings. Have sent AUDIO OFF to 144 as per Telstra website.
The Audio messages are now stopped but badge still shows incorrect numbers and message now says
"You have received a new voicemail, please call 101."
I then have to go back to keypad and dial 101.
Previously I never dialled 101 just pressed the bubble and it took me directly to voicemail. As of 30 mins ago - Telstra still trying to find out what has changed.
If they figure it out I will post the instructions!
Also having this problem, though only noticed it after updating to Android P. For the record, I found a few suggestions online about wiping the data/cache for the app "BadgeProvider" and rebooting, but that hasn't helped.

I think I found a fix for SMS. It's annoying though, and might not be universal.
I'm using the stock android messaging app for texts instead of the Samsung one, so badge I'm seeing is over the stock messaging app. In that app is a menu item to "mark all read" which I've used a few times. But while there's no badge after, I can get one message and have a badge that says I have three.
Here's the deal: the Samsung messaging app, even if it isn't the default SMS app, has its own unread count and hides it.
So, if you open the *Samsung* messages app (and say cancel when it asks if you want to set it as your default texting app) it'll load up with a tab on the bottom for Conversations. If you wait a minute, a blue badge will appear next to it with a number. Scroll down and look for a similar badge on different conversations on the right side, and open each one. When there's no badge next to conversations anymore, exit the app.
That *should* do it. I've now gotten a single text message and been given a badge that says 1.
That worked for me - thanks!

firstly, i believe theyre called "badge" notifications
so, to make sure i understand, youre getting notifications for other stuff up in the top bar where the time, battery level and signal icons are located, correct? And youre wanting your text message badge notifications to show there as well?
Sorry for the mistakes,
I'm talking about badge on the app icon that either count notifications or unread messages.
In galaxy s9+ it counts notifications. Please guide if I can enable that for unread count i.e., the unread messages in whatsapp, gmail, twitter, etc.
Please let me know if need more charity. Happy to answer.
Thanks!
