Hi guys,
I am returning the unit to samsung for some issues, its under warranty and i have rooted the phone,
What all things are to be done before returning the phone? I mean how do i unroot again?

There are tutorials in this forum. Another thing to check is your flash count, if it's above zero then you'll need to reset it. I recently returned my note 2 for a warranty claim. Whilst I was rooted I used triangle away to reset my flash counter, then unrooted through SuperSU. Then just did a factory reset.
I have heard that sometimes triangle away can brick ur phone? What are the chances?
Can u confirm the below steps?
1. Use triangle away to reset the flash counter.
2. In super su, settings, use full unroot option.
3. Reset phone from settings menu.
Is that correct?

Once you have reset flash counter with triangle away, then just back up your data and fully wipe device to be on the safe side. Then just flash a stock rom using ODIN. And youre good to go.
Thanks,
But, i have just rooted & not installed any custom rom, so in this case also do i need to flash the stock ROM? Or i can just reset the flash counter using triangle away & return for warranty?
Using triangle away you can just reset counter, it doesn't unroot (triangle itself requires root )
You can simply unroot from supersu setting, or most clean way is to Reflash stock rom.
Remember before reseting flash counter, make sure you have stock kernel and recover, otherwise it will raise again.

OK so I rooted using the toolkit because I wasn't aware of the flash counter issue. I was able to reset the counter using the counter fewer app but I was wondering if I flash stock unrooted build and then reroot using the flash tripping free method will I then be free of the flash counter or can this not be undone at this point?
I think the app triangle away will reset you back to 0 if you do like you say. But in not 100% as I haven't tried it. You should even be able to just flash a stock Rom root with toolbox then flash stock boot and recovery. Then reset the counter and remove su. Again I'm not 100%. Also if it's not your carriers official Rom it will still say modified in the download menu.
I suppose the counter is only an issue should I need a warranty claim on it?
speaking of which, is there a thread on how to revert the phone back to FULL stock? base radio with su removed, and flash counter reset

Triangle Away works for this model now. And you can download stock Roms and Push it to the phone using odin.

A quick google search would've came up with that.
so far from what i read and comprehend so far is if i were to root my note (via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955423) and install a rom ( either one of the recently updated myroms) my warranty is void
however, if i were to download an app (triangle way i think?) it would reset a counter to 0 and then i could just flash a stock rom so that tmobile wont know the difference in case i need to use my warranty ?
anything else i should know before i root? i want to be absolutely sure. thanks for everything xda!
As long as you are able to put the phone back to stock, flash counter back to zero, you'll be fine on warranty issues.

|OP|, what you wanna do is flash a root66 odin (check dev section) and then run triangle away. Once the counter is reset, fire up the rom and open SuperSU and click the unroot option. Now you are in the clear.
Is it possible to reset the binary count on an N7105 once Ive unrooted my phone.
I seem to still be at 1, ideally would like it to be 0 again.
If its not possible, whats the easiest way to achieve my goal?

Triangle Away by Chainfire should work on the N7105 for resetting the counter. You need to do this before unrooting as it needs root. Hers is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114.

Hmmm, thanks, I did try that whilst rooted, but my counter remained at 1. I guess I did something wrong
The status will be remains as 1 if you are using a custom kernel

Yes the phone scans for a custom kernel or recovery at boot and increments the flash counter if it finds one. You can be rooted but you must be running the stock firmware.
The best fix would be to root your phone again by flashing cf-autoroot using Odin. This will root your phone without affecting the recovery partition. Then you can run triangle away again. At this point you can reset the phone as many times as you like and flash counter will still be 0. Now you either flash stock firmware using Odin or open supersu and select the option for a complete unroot from the settings menu.
Now you're back to compete stock unrooted firmware.

I unrooted my S3 by running triangle away to reset the counter and then installing mobile odin and flashing the stock rom from sammobile.com. After flashing I did a factory reset to wipe out the apps (I.e. SuperSU).
The issue is that now in download mode it shows that there is a custom rom and the count is one. I understand that this will void my warranty. However it is no longer rooted so how can I wipe out that counter so I can send my phone in for a warranty claim?

Flashing stock triggers the counter, it's normal. It's their update and should be fine. If they ask questions (highly doubt they will), you just say that you updated your firmware.
You would need to reroot and run triangle away again, but you should use the desktop odin to keep from changing the flash counter again.

I believe mobile Odin unroot triggers the flash counter. As mentioned above, use desktop Odin.

Just curious if you have ever sent in a phone with the flash counter like this.
I just got a response back from Samsung that they will not cover the warranty repair because it was rooted. I completely removed root by using the following steps:
1. Installed Trianagle Away and reset to 0
2. Installed mobile odin and flashed sammobile stock firmware
3. Did a factory reset to wipe out all apps.
They still came back and knew it was rooted. I couldn't use the desktop version of odin because my cable wasn't working correctly and could have easily lost connection and bricked my device.
Please advise if there is anything I can do now.

Flashing with mobile odin triggers the flash counter, therefor, they knew you used another way than theirs to flash the update. I'm not so sure what can be done from there. Maybe you can call them and make up some story, not sure.
Is there any other way to flash their stock rom? I'm running linux... I couldn't use the USB cable because I wasn't getting a PC connection so is there any way to flash a rom without the USB cable? I could tell them I did that. Or, is there any way to root a device without the USB cable. I could tell them that I followed a guide online to flash their stock rom.
Hi everyone,
I have a Bell GS3 that I'm going to be selling to pay for a GS4 upgrade. I have it rooted and running Liquidsmooth, I'd like to restore it so it's like it came from factory. I have the I747MVLDLK4_I747MOYCDLK4_BMC file along with the Odin flashing program. I know there's something about tripping a flash counter, is there a way to check if it's been activated and if so reset it? I have an extended warranty on the phone so if the person does need a repair will not have to deal with certain problems.
I'd appreciate any help.
Your flash counter most likely has been tripped. I'm pretty sure the only way not to trip it is to use the root injected odin files. As soon as you install custom recovery and boot into the recovery the counter will be tripped though.
Here is how I have done the process.
Factory reset device.
Install triangle away to reset the counter
boot into download mode to flash stock firmware with odin.
If coming from a cm based Rom I find it best to restore/flash a touchwiz Rom first then factory reset, triangle away, Odin.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. I may be misreading what you posted, are you saying that once it's been tripped there's no way to actually go back completely?
I'll do the steps like you suggested. Thank you.

If you use triangle away before you flash stock it will be the same as it was before you rooted = 0 counter. You can root with the root injected stock images and keep the counter intact. Once you install a custom recovery it will trip your counter.
It doesn't matter to someone who flashes roms if the counter is tripped until you need to sell or return for warranty. Triangle away before flashing stock will reset the counter and give you stock with a clean counter and ready to sell/return for service.
