Hi,
I have rooted my galaxy s3 t999 on 4.1.1 JB. I then installed twrp via goo manager. After this, I used goo manager and flashed cm 10.1 m3 and the gaaps package that goo manager told me to install. Now my phone will not go into twrp recovery and when it boots up the s3 logo comes up and under that, the cyongenmod logo pops up too. After this the screen goes black. Can I flash cyongenmod trough odin? My phone goes into download mode at least. Thank you for taking your time and reading this . Please Help! I am a complete noob.
Need to do a factory reset to fix the boot issue.
Attempting to access recovery with wrong key combination. Press power, then the phone vibrates, hold vol up and home button.

You cannot flash cyanogenmod using odin.
Your best bet is a fresh start with the stock-rooted ODIN flash firmware which can be downloaded here:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
Flash the stock-rooted TAR file with ODIN.
After it's done download cwm recovery zip file which can be found here:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556425762
Copy the cwm recovery zip file you downloaded to your phones sdcard.
Then boot into recovery and flash the cwm-recovery zip file and reboot
the phone into recovery mode.
Then go a head and flash the cyanogenmod rom you were trying to flash before.
It should work just fine.
Good Luck!
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I just downloaded a stock rom from samsung, and flashed via odin. It was successful, however even with the stock rom, I am still stuck in a boot load, and it still wont let me into recovery mode....
Solved!!
So I finally solved the issue. After I had flashed the stock rom via odin, I needed to find away to wipe cache's and do a factory reset. I finally accomplished this by downloading the .pit file, and re-flashing it together with the stock rom all through odin. After doing so, I was finally able to get into recovery, wipe, and do a factory reset. For anyone else having this issue, here is a link where I found the .pit file, and a thread with some basic instructions:

Hello everyone,
I decided today to try and switch from aokp android 4.4.2 rom back to the official 4.3 update. I Factory reset and cleared cache, and then flashed the .tar file via odin, and it said it passed. Unfortunately, it gets to the flashing Samsung logo, and gets stuck there.. any suggestions on how to fix this?

What phone model and carrier do you use and where did you find an Odin flashable file for 4.3 JB? Do you have custom recovery installed on your phone?

I have a bell SGH-I747M, I got the zip off of sam mobile, and I did, until I flashed the rom through Odin and it removed root and cwm

The 4.3 ROM would have been better flashed as a zip file via custom recovery than Odin. I would suggest you first try booting into recovery mode and doing a hard wipe/reset. If this does not work, then you may try reinstalling the zip. Boot into download mode and flash custom recovery (cwm or TWRP) via Odin. Also copy the zip file you earlier downloaded (unextracted) onto an SDHC card or you may try another download via this link <http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319199494>. If you are able to successfully flash custom recovery, don't allow the phone to reboot but remove the battery and insert the card. Then boot into custom recovery and flash the zip from the SDHC card. Clear the cache and reset and, hopefully, your phone will be back in business.
I have been messing with my S3 lately and just tonight I tried flashing the newest compatible TWRP recovery so that I could run SlimBean on it, which is recommended, but after I flashed it, the TWRP recovery, my phone would no longer boot into recovery. It will boot into download and will boot normally. When I try to boot into recovery it shows the "Recovery booting...." text in blue but then goes to a black screen where I can't go any further. I have tried booting into recovery while completely turned off with Volume up + Home + power, with ROM manager and with goomanager. No matter what I try it refuses to boot into recovery. Any help would be very, very, very appreciated!
Where did you get the recovery? Get twrp from my sig and flash via Odin. Should get it going again.

I originally got twrp from their site the first time I attempted to flash it and also tried flashing it directly from goomanager.
Thank you, I'll try it right quick.
*EDIT* I tried the twrp you said to and it crashed my odinv3.07. I'm going to download Odinv3.09 provided by you and attempt it again. Any tips on changing the twrp file from a .zip to a .tar file?
There should be a .tar.md5 fir each version. Use that with Odin. The .zip files are for flashing in recovery, which wont work for you atm.
Sorry about the late reply but after I flashed the twrp from you with Odin v3.09 it booted right into recovery! Thank you so much!

Hello, my friend has a Ace 2 (GT-I8160) and he wanted me to try and install CM 11 on his phone. I managed to root it and install temporary CWM on it, however his version of CWM could not flash CM 11 ROM's because it was outdated. I Googled around and found a TWRP .img file that I decided to flash via ODIN (CWM couldn't flash any TWRP .zip files for some reason). Everything went perfectly fine with ODIN, however my friends phone could not go pass the Samsung logo, it would appear for a few seconds and then the screen would go black. He also couldn't go into recovery but he could go into Download mode. Thinking that it was a recovery problem, I managed to get a .img file of TWRP 2.8.6.0 by Chronomonochrome and flash that via ODIN. Still the same problem - phone won't go pass the logo, however it can go into recovery.
So, now the phone boots perfectly to Download mode and recovery - and it can do everything from the recovery, like making backups, wiping, etc, but it cannot boot to the OS itself. I still haven't flashed a custom ROM on his phone because he didn't have the ROM file on his phone at the time nor could be transfer it to his phone via his PC because of some driver issue.
I'm currently downloading I8160XXBN1 firmware from Samsung Updates to flash via ODIN and try to get his phone back into working state. However, I also planned on placing my SD Card (which has the CM rom and Gapps on it) into his phone and flashing a new, custom ROM instead of flashing the firmware.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Should I flash official firmware via ODIN or just flash the ROM using the recovery?
Thanks in advance.
First time flashing ROMs, installed resurrection remix tryed to install Gapps which failed, yet RR booted up on its own just fine. Then tried to flash a new recovery on it (TWRP 3.0) yet the phone would just never boot up to complete the recovery install. So now i have a phone which wont enter recovery mode and cannot complete the download of the new recovery.
TLDR: Phone wont boot into recovery as ROM is broken so download cant be fixed?
Previous: recovery TWRP 2.6
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-19195
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks
Are you sure that you have flashed the right Recovery for your Phone.
Normally the way is.
Boot into Recovery
Install the Recovery .zip file
Reboot into Recovery.
Reboot into System ( ROM )
Can you post a link where you download the Recovery and which file.

That would only work from TWRP ver 2.8.4, I think you missed he is still on very old TWRP or maybe he edit later , he would have to install with Odin method
@Spec77
If you can boot into download mode you should be able to flash new recovery with Odin method (NOT use zip file).
As Bierma suggests maybe you flashed wrong TWRP does your phone have another letter and after gt-19195 if so it is a different phone & you need different TWRP. Or maybe you just tapped wrong link.

This way works also if you come from a CWM or PhilzTouch Version.
If you come from TWRP =>2.8.4.0 than you can flash an *.IMG File ,but you can flash on all Versions a *.zip file.
Managed to fix the brick
Thanks for the help, I managed to fix it by installing TRWP 3.0 from ODIN, and now that i have that I'm fine
Thanks!
