Disabling Instant Search - HTC One V

This is probably a stupid question, but can someone please tell me how the hell to disable 'instant search' from the title bar in Chrome?

by uninstalling chrome....

That was less than helpful. I suppose I'm to assume there is no way to disable instant search.
It's also present in the default HTC browser, so I'm assuming there is no way to disable it there either?

Need Help please

i just flashed the Warm Z TwoPointTwo rom on my evo, its great and all but i when i receive a text message or email the led notification light does not blink. does anyone know why?
Did you enable it in the options?
Are you using any other apps like tasker to override it? Or not enable in your app settings?
Yes i did. Ok so now when i get a email, it blinks. But for text messages it does not still.
What messaging app are you using? It seems like your text notifications aren't on.

Open the messaging app, then click menu, scroll down, and make sure notifications is checked; if not, configure the options.
It will not work with the stock messaging app. Atleast it didn't for me. I used the wimax notifier located in the themes and apps section. Was told it didn't work because it is a port from the sense 2.0. Hence the "z".

Well we just unveiled the secret of that stock messaging app won't activate the led with warm z, so you need to use a 3rd party app, such as handcent for texting.

SMS question: Store Phrases

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. Is there a messaging app that will also let you store phrases to it so that when you get a text, you can reply with a phrase that you already have stored in the app?
Hope that makes sense.
The stock messaging app lets you do this. Go Sms, Chomp Sms, and Handcent all should have that feature. Each of those is freely available in the market
Hey thanks for the reply. Again, another feature with Sense that I never knew was there.

There is also an alternate keyboard application called Inserty that will allow this.

sorry for my bad english
Im trying to use a shortcut creator to open the pop up browser but can't find the app. Any of you know what it might be called? Thanks!
ps - popup is great for watching youtube while doing other things. will do for now since t-mo didn't get the update.

Agree. He wanted to make his thanks meter to reach 1000. Look now he has 1001. Maybe he's,trying to make it over 9000!!
Actually, according to time stamps this one was first by a couple of hours. I closed the one in General and redirected traffic to this thread.
I probably won't keep it, but the home app is not that bad as a lockscreen. Lockscreen serves no purpose anyway, so... Once you realize you can keep your launcher inside intact, it is not so bad.
What would be really cool is if somebody made like a Flipboard lockscreen app like FB home.

Who'd ever want to replace a beautiful android UI just to access live feeds quickly?
BTW, i hate this app.
I wonder what profit would Facebook make from HTC First.

Wouldn't it auto update anyway? Why you hate hangouts? Its pretty much everything talk was plus tons more...

I was able to find the Talk Apk. Auto-update is easily preventable by setting it not to do so.
Talk is far, far more visually appealing and navigable. When chatting with someone, I find it impossible to side swipe to the user list screen for some reason. Hangouts is just another example of trying to "fix" something that wasn't broken. What is the "tons" more you refer to? It still hasn't merged SMS, which would actually have been useful.
I bet you like the new Maps too and the loss of layer functionality?

Perhaps to you. I do like the new maps it seems to lock quicker. No need for the attitude... I find the navigation much easier with the swiping and I love the look of the application. Its far easier to add people from your contacts as well as the different levels of navigation within the application. Love how easy it is overall versus talk. The new maps application lost a feature I don't use... Not saying its alright for all but your attitude sucks...

Could anyone using this tell me what version of Talk this is? Also the best way to remove Hangouts would be to delete it via TiBu?

You can remove this by TB. Will work fine.
But as @cstrife999 mentioned, I also just remove apk from system/app/ folder.

Titanium backup says it's version 4.2.2-612687 (330)
just uninstall hangouts, and it should revert to talk. that's been my experience.
hangouts sucks. i still can't easily see who's online and who isn't, that's a huge PITA.

With the new update you should be able to see who is online. I know I can.

I just checked and I still think they need to improve on that. I'd like it if they showed the online status in the opened hangouts window instead of just the new hangouts window.
If they did that then it's worth switching to, but as it stands, talk is still superior in online chat in my opinion.

Yep, that's what I did on my N7 (2013). However, I backed it up first just in case and THEN delete it.
One thing I hate about Hangout is that BY DEFAULT, ALL conversation are recorded. I can disable this, but only per conversation instead of the default option. So I have to disable this for EVERY single chat windows, both old and new ones.
Hangouts irritated the hell out of me as well. After using Talk for a couple of years, the update to Hangouts drove me straight to WhatsApp.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
Does talk work on 4.4?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hangout is a bit quirky, as I've yet to figure out how to send an SMS directly through the app, but it's much more feature packed than Talk I think.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I basically have to go into my Contacts and just choose to send a message. There's got to be a way to do it through Hangout itself though, right?
