I just rooted my Epic using One Click Root (no problems there). I then tried to flash the Urban Vendetta 1.5 ROM. The Rom starts up fine, seems to run well, but it would constantly toggle my airplane mode on/off, causing me 2 have absolutely no signal. I did some searching through the Q&A forums, and saw a post similar to my issue. Installing a new kernel was the suggested solution. So, I downloaded and installed the Revolted kernel. The toggling stopped, now I get no signal at all. Any advice/help is appreciated.
Somehow, it came back after about 90 mins of not working. However if anyone knows the cause of this or suggested remedies in the event that it happens again, I would still be very appreciative.

I think it's definitely something with this ROM/Kernel combo. Rebooted my phone, now going on 5 hrs searching for a signal

Make your own rom in real-time. stick with stock, and customize from there is what i'd do. =D
flashed swiftkey flow zip form recovery that i downloaded from xda. now my data is all messed up i don't get 3g or 4g anymore just E and G?? What the hell is G?? Never seen this before. Running CM10 stable. restored rom...nothing. restored to stock rooted and still the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

swiftkey flow is an open beta, so anyone can download it and use it.
op, did you make a backup beforehand? if not, i would suggest reflashing your rom and simply installing the apk of swiftkey flow. but only if your imei is intact.

That's bizarre. I installed the flow beta, and had no such issues.

Sorry but that's above my pay grade. First thing I did when I got my phone is back it up. I have no idea how to inject it without a backup.

I found it complicated too when it happened to me. But, I got through it. Just read and re-read...and go through the motions in your head before doing it. I used the combination of 2 sources. Here first and then here. Good luck.

okay...**** man what an ordeal that was!! but i did it finally. got my phone up and running but now i have a couple of questions.
on stock rom(stock rogers rooted) shows 4g mostly but when i revert back to cm10 stable it bounces from 3g to h+. okay so i did a little comparison and while on stock it flips from HSPA+ 15 and UMTS: 3 but it only shows 4g. on cm10 it flips from HSPAP - 15 and UMTS: 3 but when it does that it shows 4g and 3g respectively. Now i know that custom roms especially this one shows "true" data and that they don't really align with the stock but i don't remember ever seeing 3g. Also, the current modem is 1747MVLLH1 but it doesn't match the two modems listed in another post titled "complete modem list" and they are: I747MVLLE8 and/or I747MLALH1. do i have the right modem?
I just flashed hellfire cm10 ROM two days ago its been running great, so much faster. Small problem I'm having is that it can take a few minutes to pick up the connection. Eventually will turn to 4g. I have a really good connection where I live and on stock jellybean or ICS rom. Picks up the connection instantly. I have latest cwm and I cleared everything necessary. And fixed permissions after flashing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have flashed all the at&t modems, makes no difference, although I wasnt sure that it would.
There's something I'm forgetting to add I'm sure. Its only an annoyance really but if I ever want to check my stuff online really quickly I can't', because it takes so long to connect. At work it becomes impossible to go online.

Check your imei in settings under status. By chance does it show 0 or unknown? Or something else? If it is correct then just ignore this post. If it's not, then you likely have a major problem on your hands. All is not lost though

hi all,
I didnt find any threads that answered my question well, so if its a repeat my apologies. I am running Blu Kuban 1.0.5.4, it runs nice and smooth, i love everything about it, but i dont know JACK about modems in this sense. In about phone it says my modem is FF18, which seems right from everything i HAVE read lol, but then the BK build # say FL24.
i have read that GB and ICS modems are interchangeable, but i have no knowledge of where to start or IF i should bother messing with it. i know i have to travel to downtown orlando to catch a 4g signal, and 3g kinda sux and i get almost nothing inside my apt, and wifi is alot lower than i expected given i run a full dual-band DDWRT gigabit cat6 network.
so the crux of the question is the modem in the build number what it seems like? are the 2 conflicting or am i just misunderstanding al together lol and more, is there a better setup i can use, i know that tends to be phone specific but it seems like in general some prove to work well together and some dont.
thanks in advance for any/all help

FF18 is fine to run in BK FL24. Both are ICS. However, modems vary from phone to phone, location to location. I would try updating your modem to FL24, and after you reboot, update prl and profile, and see if that improves signal. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But the short answer is no, the build is not conflicting with your modem, it's most likely the area you are in. Play around with other modems, see if it helps! Good luck

great inglihd
for the first one the FL24 i used the internal updater built into BK, but after that i switched to mobile odin bc i was afraid it was an updater issue...though my battery was a tad low but it was on the charger, and a straight wall charger too not a usb to my pc charger. ah well im not sweating it, like i said im mostly home anyway so having a kick ass rom thats rock solid is more important anyway lol
Not sure if you know but mobile Odin does not support the flashing of modems for the epic touch. It may look like it flashes but nothing happens. Either desktop Odin or recovery is the only way to flash a modem.

wow..no i didnt know that, some of the other boards hinted at it working through mobile odin and some said nothing at all, a friend however said it could so i took his advice...its possible he had the same thing where it looked like it flashed but didnt...it would explain the probs i had with the other modems lol

Read RWilco's comment in tutorial for flashing TAR and TAR.MD5 files, and it is a blanket statement regarding modems and Mobile Odin/Mobile Odin Pro (don't do it).

with that in mind i will try using only cwm, and see if that makes a difference...thanks all for the help and the quick responses you guys all rock! im not a complete noob with flashing and such, but im not a pro either, i spent alot of time in IT and helpdesk, but now im back in school for programming, still only kinda towards the end of what would probably still be considered an apprentice level code monkey and while i some experience with linux/unix, in that realm i WOULD call myself a noob lol
ok so...i guess i have one more question, im running Blu Kuban, which uses a modified AGAT recovery...is it ok to flash a modem from that or should i just stick with desktop odin?

Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress. Sprint/Boost/Virgin Mobile should just link to this forum in their communities for all tech support issues. It's faster, better info, and way friendlier. And wow it beats the heck out of going into their stores. I remember when Garwynn would post in the Sprint forum for the E4GT, and his input was far better than the Sprint monitors.
Hello, idk if I'm posting in the right area so please forgive me for any mistakes i made but i have two questions if anyone would kindly answer for me. I recently installed P.A.C Man Rom and for the most part i love it, the only problem i seem to get is the battery life drains pretty quickly & the phone gets a little warm when the screen is on. I don't know if that's normal but I'm wondering if i underclock it would that possibly fix my two problems I'm having and if so could anyone recommend what i should set it to and which is the best governor to use.
Thank You in advance for your guy's help with my newbie questions lol
You could try another kernal but it won't help cause we don't know what exactly your battery is.
I suggest going on Google and type, "Betterbatterystats xda" on Google and download the latest version. It's an app that tells you about your battery usage in depth so you will see what exactly is killing your battery.
Did you just flash the rom? If you did, wait a few days for everything to settle down. Battery should get better as a day or two progress.
I suggest taking a look at these threads. Plenty of great advice and tips for you to read.

Aldo check your baseband. If you are currently on MD5, try using the LJC modem. A few people have reported similar things when using this baseband with CM/AOSP based roms.
