[Q] Alright Inc2 Fam - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hello guys, been awhile since I have communicated with my Inc2 family. Got a general question, I am getting ready to purchase a launcher. I have been using the free ADW launcher for quite some time now and have tested the Nova launcher for about a week now. I would like to hear some pros and cons from someone on a launcher before I buy one for $3-$4. Let me know your thoughts on these two or tell me your favorite one and why.

I did the whole which one is better awhile back n got hooked on Nova. Honestly they're about the sane in my opinion. Nova doesn't update as much as ADW though is one of the things I noticed. Nova has a beta program which I personally dig. ADW is a little smaller in size. Nova needs another program for unread notifications. I bought the Nova prime because I tried others (ADW Apex Bazooka ) n nova to me seemed easier n simple with a beta program that let's me adjust the icon size.
Sent from a phone HTC forgot. Right now its running Chilly powered PAC n a lil NOS jus for fun.

I personally own all three major launchers. I bought adw ex a while back, then bought apex pro, then found nova was on sale for $.25 one day and got it too. I'm currently digging the features of Nova prime, but in the past I've pretty well stuck with apex. Not as big a fan of adw though.

If I've helped, please hit the thanks button.

I use holo launcher hd, never had a need to buy the plus version.

Can you disable the dock in the free Holo HD? I looked at it in the play store and it didn't list that option, but sometimes I am just blind.

Best launcher

Hello! I bought this phone 2 days ago... Came from a Galaxy Gio. So what the best launcher for this BIG phone?
I use the Nova Launcher Prime. The best for me.
SkyBlue TapaTalk
+1 for Nova Launcher Prime.
+1 nova.

Awesome signature and I use apex btw I will give nova a try

Have the ssLauncher the Original. Very special and great looking launcher with endless possibilities of modifing.

Nova is great but some of the good features are paid only.
Apex is my choice because its free and has it all.
yeah it depends wether you wanna pay or not, apex gives you more for free, while nova prime gives you more but you have to pay, which im not completely sure anymore cause theres a apex pro version now that i havent tried
I've found Apex Launcher to have a lot more options than Nova Launcher (both free versions)
Nemus is a promising launcher

Nova for me too.
I like Apex.
Nova Prime looks promising but I can't see justifying $4.00 to simply gain a few features. The only thing I see that would be useful is hiding apps.
Eventually they just get too over complicated and bogged down.
On my tablet, I use ADW Launcher Ex. I hide the status bar, the dock bar, icon labels, and works awesome. Apex for my Nexus though.
I also tried the new Go Launcher HD, which is pretty cool. Free too I think.
Comparing the free versions. I run with Apex
Apex 1.1.0 pro all the way for me...

I prefer Apex. Just purchased the Pro version. (Had a while also nova installed but at the end I always used apex)
From my experience, Apex free version provides more features than Nova but the only gripe I have against Apex is that the transition animations are not as smooth on it as compared to Nova.
Thank's everybody!!!!!
Apex Launcher for sure! a lot better than Nova in my opinion.

[POLL] Daily Launcher

Vote for your primary launcher of choice.
Just thought I'd create a quick poll of the most popular Launchers to accompany the other "Daily Launcher" thread that should've had a poll to begin with
Poll options also listed here with links:
Nova
Trebuchet (CM9 & CM10 default; old default was ADW)
ADW
Apex
GO Launcher EX
SPB Shell 3D
TSF Shell
LauncherPro (abandoned: no updates since May 2011)
Samsung TouchWhiz
HTC Sense
Motorola Motoblur
Other
If I'm missing any poll options, sorry, but polls can't be changed once created, so vote "Other".
TOUCHWIZ 4 LYFE
lol jk I run Apex Pro on KyanROM 1.5 and I'm as satisfied as could be on ICS
Hah. Oh yeah - I guess I did speel TouchWiz wrong. Force of habit.
Apex pro on cm10 nightly. Love it, have loved it for a year now.

Yes you did "speel" it wrong.
Nova prime. Not as many bells and whistles but sure is smooth

Apex free at first then moved to Nova Prime
was using the free version of Apex, since Nova didn't have the free gestures found in Apex. But, when Nova Prime went on sale for 25 cents, I made the switch and haven't looked back.
Touchwiz. Tried nova and apex and didn't like them.
Launcher Pro is not abandoned (Fede has an update in the works) It simply hasn't needed any updates in a long time. FYI.

Not holding my breath on the long-promised rewrite
whats with all the love for nova? i've always thought apex was smoother, and has more features. i really like the sorting app drawer sorting by install date and apex is really the only one that has that on aosp.
Voting other for holo hd.

As I said - it hasn't 'needed' a re-write... Even as it stands now, its still more customizable than anything else out there, and smoother... what 'needs' changed?

I'm just saying that it doesn't inspire confidence when the promised LauncherPro re-write was over a year and half ago, and both it and the dev's other main app -- UberMusic -- haven't seen updates in over a year. Some had even speculated that when Federico vanished without word he was either retired or dead ...
As far as what it 'needs': not much. Just updates to support ICS & Jellybean's new capabilities, and to fix the gmail notifications that broke when Google changed the Gmail api a loooong time ago.
I'm not dissing LauncherPro. It used to be the must-have launcher and I used it for about a year after I got my SGS1. It works great, but it's dated and stale (and broken in some ways), and there's better alternatives now IMO.
I used to use Launcher Pro all the time, but lately it seems like there is no support for it. I switched to Apex and I really like it. Go Launcher is pretty nice too.
Nova launcher pro. Although I'm not sure if this kills battery. My battery sucks. Could barely last the day..

Nova Launcher PRIME.
Nova wins, for now...
I had been using Apex Pro for the past few months. About. 3 weeks ago I switched to Nova Prime and I liked its faster screen transitions but it doesn't have all the features of Apex so today I switched backfire Apex with Flat Icons.

Nova vs. ADW Launcher

Ever since I got my Note 2 I've been using ADW Launcher. Ever since they released a huge update a couple of months ago it works very well and I'm very happy with it. But I did notice people using Nova Launcher as well and was wondering what the pros and cons were with Nova compared to ADW. I'm eventually going to try it out but wanted to some first hand experience from people who like using Nova.
BTW, I've tried other launchers and they were not as smooth or they have too much going on vs ADW. Nova is the only launcher that I haven't tried yet.
Just got my Note2 yesterday, I had ADW in the past on an HTC Sensation, Dell Streak, and Samsung Captivate. I really liked it, but decided to try something else, so I went with Nova Launcher. I like it.
With VERY little experience to speak of with it, the only thing I can say I prefer about Nova is the way it groups folders on the dockbar. It looks just like Vanilla Android. That's a big plus for me. I'm trying to turn my Note 2 into a Nexus Note 2.
i actually have learned to love APEX launcher...the tablet transition compliments the note 2 very well...plus its more visually smooth than nova, at least to me. i could never get in adw, as hard as a tried, even when he first dropped the app back in the old launcher pro days...
omg whens the last time you even THOUGHT about launcher pro lol!!!!!!!!
I started off with Nova on my Note 2. I would also like to know how Nova compares with ADW. It seems like ADW has more tweaks and options but I personally haven't tried it.
i rotate between Launcher8 and Nova.
I've tried ADW, Go, Apex and nova among many others...I currently use nova prime and I love it

Nova launcher prime. But I've been using next launcher for the past few weeks and REALLY like it! If you don't mind spending $16 bucks, it's worth checking out.

Nova Prime
I picked up the nova prime during the .25 cent anniversary back a few months ago. Couldn't be happier! I've tried them all
and find this to be the most trouble free.
Nova Launcher Prime
Smoothest launcher I've used.
Nova and Apex are nice if you like the stock Google feel. GO Launcher is pretty cool too. I've personally been using Next Launcher for the past couple days and I am loving it. I don't think its quite worth the money when GO, Nova and Apex do many of the same things but it is still a great launcher with a ton of features.
Switched to apex mid last year. Never looked back. I've used them all.

do you ever get any launcher redraws? especially after you've just finished instaing an app & you press the home key.
Nope. Never had any issues with it.

Battle of the Launchers. Is Nova Prime still King?

Hi everybody,
The Launcher plays a huge role in a smartphone experience. It can enhance it or break it. There is a multitude of new Launchers out there and of course I haven' try them all. I've been using Nova Prime as my home screen launcher for quite some time now. I tried Apex, Go Launcher, SPB Shell and more but I always come back to Nova. I just love the gesture and speed this lightweight launcher can give.
So what is your preferred launcher and WHY? Which one do you think should be called the KING of Launcher?

Nova was never the king. Apex is. It has more features. It's lighter and costs less.
I use next launcher its smooth and efffects r very attractive!!
Nova, hands down. And I've tried Apex - it's alright, but never really liked it. Hated Go Launcher.

For some reasons I can't install it.
I've tried a few different launchers but find Nova to be the best, so much so that i bought it.
Not really sure the difference between paid versions of Nova or Apex though as the free versions seem very similar. Any big difference between the two??

I also agree tha nova is the best, I've tried several launchers and always come back yo it.
For me is the launcher that should come with Android by default and I'm using the free version...

In the Play Store at the bottom of the description of the free version they'll tell you what you get if you get the Prime (paid) version.
TT Launcher is good also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37696403
Used Go for a long time .tried Next, Apex and found a home with Nova. Tried some of the more graphical launchers but the simplicity of Nova draws me back.
+1 for Nova

Tried Next Launcher and went back to Nova. :cyclops: Frankly nothing special about it for me.
TSF shell have some cool widgets and can have some unconventional nice layout IF they could only come out with a bugless version.
Now using Launcher 8, kinda cool and different. Really like it for now.
Nova is still the most stable and smooth for me. Its always installed while i try other launchers.
Just noticed that Holo Launcher HD is smoother than Nova, in case of scrolling through home screens and app drawer, for me.
