Vote for your primary launcher of choice.
Just thought I'd create a quick poll of the most popular Launchers to accompany the other "Daily Launcher" thread that should've had a poll to begin with
Poll options also listed here with links:
Nova
Trebuchet (CM9 & CM10 default; old default was ADW)
ADW
Apex
GO Launcher EX
SPB Shell 3D
TSF Shell
LauncherPro (abandoned: no updates since May 2011)
Samsung TouchWhiz
HTC Sense
Motorola Motoblur
Other
If I'm missing any poll options, sorry, but polls can't be changed once created, so vote "Other".

Nova prime. Not as many bells and whistles but sure is smooth

Apex free at first then moved to Nova Prime
was using the free version of Apex, since Nova didn't have the free gestures found in Apex. But, when Nova Prime went on sale for 25 cents, I made the switch and haven't looked back.
Touchwiz. Tried nova and apex and didn't like them.
Launcher Pro is not abandoned (Fede has an update in the works) It simply hasn't needed any updates in a long time. FYI.

Not holding my breath on the long-promised rewrite
whats with all the love for nova? i've always thought apex was smoother, and has more features. i really like the sorting app drawer sorting by install date and apex is really the only one that has that on aosp.

I'm just saying that it doesn't inspire confidence when the promised LauncherPro re-write was over a year and half ago, and both it and the dev's other main app -- UberMusic -- haven't seen updates in over a year. Some had even speculated that when Federico vanished without word he was either retired or dead ...
As far as what it 'needs': not much. Just updates to support ICS & Jellybean's new capabilities, and to fix the gmail notifications that broke when Google changed the Gmail api a loooong time ago.
I'm not dissing LauncherPro. It used to be the must-have launcher and I used it for about a year after I got my SGS1. It works great, but it's dated and stale (and broken in some ways), and there's better alternatives now IMO.
I used to use Launcher Pro all the time, but lately it seems like there is no support for it. I switched to Apex and I really like it. Go Launcher is pretty nice too.
Nova launcher pro. Although I'm not sure if this kills battery. My battery sucks. Could barely last the day..

Nova Launcher PRIME.
Nova wins, for now...
I had been using Apex Pro for the past few months. About. 3 weeks ago I switched to Nova Prime and I liked its faster screen transitions but it doesn't have all the features of Apex so today I switched backfire Apex with Flat Icons.

I'm about to get my Galaxy Nexus, on intending to root, but will probably use a custom launcher, am happy to pay for pro version, how do you think they compare? Smoothness is secondary to features for me.
I use apex launcher. It is very customisable and I like the ability to use gestures. It is also very smooth. I highly recommand it!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I'm using Nova Prime on my phone and am quite happy with it. Has plenty of customisation, and runs smooth for me. I personally paid for the full version of Nova as that added the ability to hide apps in the app drawer, which is a feature I am a huge fan of.
You can get free versions of both though, so if you're not sure you can download the free versions of each, and then see what additional features the paid version provides, and determine if you feel you need them.
Was using nova prime until I tried apex and I've stick to it ever since. Both are really good but apex gave me a little more customizations; being able to change what holding down screen does and tapping on screen twice.
Give both a try and see which one you like. I would recommend you to push the apex apk yourself from the beta version found on this forum here.
Nova Launcher just dropped a nice little update
I'm using Apex currently only because of customization. It lags like a mother though. I emailed the devs and every time they release a new beta they just tell me to try it instead of telling me they've fixed the issue...which they haven't.
Nova launcher is smooth.
bow chicka wow wow.
Loving Apex. Smooth as butter and LOVE the customization options.
I've been using nova prime for about two months. The gestures are convenient for voice search and text search. I also like the backup feature, which is essential for saving time if you flash alot of roms.
Sprint GN, Tapatalk2
Nova, feels smoother than apex. Apex was buggy with its animations too
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Apex is a little more polished a little smoother (in the latest beta 1.1 update) especially the drawer fly in animation
Apex is smooth. Don't know what people are complaining about. It's awesome if you like the stock look with varying degrees of customization.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Personally, I bought Nova Prime and am loving it so far
I really like Apex, it's like stock with some good and useful customizations..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I currently use Nova. I used Apex for a while but it occasionally caused extremely high battery drain. Nova seems a bit more responsive to me, but Apex was not slow.
I turn the animations off on my phone, so that may affect how things feel versus others who like the animations on.
I'm using Nova prime. I liked the stock launcher but missed some features like gestures. Nova with prime upgrade gave me those features and I'm happy now. Didn't test Apex though.
So basically both are good.
I love the double tap on anywhere on the screen to open options from Apex launcher. That’s my decision maker between Nova and Apex
I've been using Apex since I got my Gnex last week. I love it. Great customization options, really fast--never have any problems with it.
There's already a huge thread about this in the themes and apps forum.
Apex for me.

Can anyone help me with why I should use any launcher over GO Launcher? I have rooted and installed the new Calkulin V1.6 ROM.
Thanks!
Personally I feel as if Go Launcher was not specialized for Android 4.0, so I stuck with NOVA launcher. BTW you should give that a shot, I didn't like it at first, but I grew into and now its running great. I also run Calk's E4GT 2 v1.6, and it is great. It should come with NOVA launcher if you didn't apply the barebones converter.

You can't transfer screens across different launchers, at least not to my knowledge, the format isn't really standardized. If you don't see the app drawer, hold onto any empty space in the launcher until a menu comes up. Select Nova Actions and the app drawer should be there. You can drag that into the dock so it stays there.
Go feels bloated and slow to me, switch back to regular or tw and its faster and smoother.

Trebuchet or Nova
If you want as close to pure ICS as possible, download the Trebuchet launcher. If you want a few more features, I like Nova Prime. I've tried Go! Launcher several times, and although themes are plentiful and there are some impressive transitions, I always get bored of the fluff and extra menus and choose something more minimalist. In my case, I flashed to ICS because I wanted to have a simpler bloat-free experience, and intentionally adding more seems counterproductive.
If you're rooted, I say why use any rom other than blu kuban? Best experience I've had to date.

Apex to me seems to be the best as of right now and really stable. I even bought the pro key
I use Nova Launcher because it's really smooth, polished, and has a ton of features. I used to use GO but it has sooo much bloatware. Why does a Launcher need to have its own App store, Lockscreens, messages, etc.? GO runs really smooth, but the features and different aspects just make it look unorganized in my opinion and cluttered.
I used Apex launcher (Pro) because I'm running ICS as well and not only is is built for ICS (love the widget drawer!), but damn near has the same customization features of ADW Ex and it's quite speedy and smooth (which I use when I'm on GB).

I like Apex. I used Nova when it was built into some roms, but apex seems to have a few more options. It's been a while since I used Nova, so I can't remember the specifics. I like using swipe gestures in Apex to launch the app drawer and Google search. I don't remember if you can do that in Nova. Performance wise they seemed about the same to me. I can't really think of any cons.

Hands down Apex Launcher, I used Nova when I first put ICS on my phone but then the developers created a paid version and put all of the good stuff into the paid only. Apex has all those same features in the free version and offers only some neat little additions in their paid version that won't sway the people that don't want to buy it. It's also very quick.

Next Launcher is still too BETA to me and lacking a lot of stuff that Go has, you'd think they'd combined the two... Hopefully they do eventually.

LoL! The only reasons I drew back away from them was cause of the lack of a better app drawer. I'm stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place! Grrr
I liked that they had the widgets panel on the app draw but they didn't have the recent apps and running apps panel like Go does.

On a side note Go's Next Launcher 3D is looking a lil better since I last used it. I could prolly see paying that much for it, only thing I dislike is that stupid ugly OS X looking dock bar, if they had a way to rid of that then I'd pay for it most certainly. Still a lil room left for improvement, also I WISHED They'd incorporate Go Launcher Widgets into Next Launcher. Those are still my only 2 draw backs about it.

try adw ex. Using with JB 4.1.2 now
hahahh. You will see all suggestions from all launchers in the market
ADW Ex and Holo have the unorganized app drawer, where gotta create ya own individual labels and how would have a go about creating labels/tabs for "running" and "recent" if it was possible?

Well the only thing that bugged me was I couldn't find a way to change the Atom Bar (I think it's called) font color, maybe I'm missing an option somewhere IDK but I think thats really important to me due to wallpapers. Everything else was really nice and I liked the App Drawer second to Go Launchers, it was very customizable and organized, didn't really have any other problems with the whole launcher itself. If I didn't use Go Launcher a lot I could see substituting this for it.
Ohh and in Transition effect if ya added a random or shuffled option of all transitions.

Hi everybody,
The Launcher plays a huge role in a smartphone experience. It can enhance it or break it. There is a multitude of new Launchers out there and of course I haven' try them all. I've been using Nova Prime as my home screen launcher for quite some time now. I tried Apex, Go Launcher, SPB Shell and more but I always come back to Nova. I just love the gesture and speed this lightweight launcher can give.
So what is your preferred launcher and WHY? Which one do you think should be called the KING of Launcher?

TSF shell have some cool widgets and can have some unconventional nice layout IF they could only come out with a bugless version.
