Deviant or xone kernel for "Wicked 9.1 rom" Opinions? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So I am wanting reviews even tho its an older rom, whos getting best batt life between these two kernels?
Theres the option in Aroma installer, to pick either kernel, ive been using deviant, does anyone have any input on the xone kernel?
What seems to be the difference or the best of the two choices, besides the fact deviant way overclocks Cpu speeds.
Great rom by the way ...I see why there's 200 thanks !!!

No such thing as the best kernel or ROM for that matter. It all the depends on the device and how it handles the specific ROM or Kernel. To get your answer you're gonna have to try them both, play around with them for a while, and see which your phone handles better.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

Ok well my other question is ..is the other kernel set aside as an optional kernel, like flahsable in cwm or is it only incorporated in the aroma installer process, another word's I dont want to reinstall rom evrytime just to try them.
Is there a way to redo the installer process for this rom separate from a complete reinstall
Basically im saying I cant find the other kernel as a stand alone kernel ive looked already

Did you? because once you type the kernel name on Google search the xda links should appear right away. Here are your flashable zips for each kernel. Be sure to read the entire OP to each thread.

[Script][MOD][U9RC6][ICS]I SCream! -=V6 SUPERCHARGER=- The ONLY RAM Fixer + KAK & 3G!
This is an awesome memory script by zeppelinrox.
I have used it on a few of my phones in the past and it does exactly what he describes it as!
This is the original thread with links to the scripts.
Recommended is setting 9, with the 1000HP. HP has to do with total memory I believe.
Editing this for some more clarity:
The most recent updates (betas/tests) are located here.
Software needed before installation:
1)Script Manager (found in the Market)
2)Busybox Installer (found in the Market) Make sure you install Busybox 1.182 or lower!
3)Your phone MUST be rooted!
To install:
1)Make sure you have the above software installed.
2)Download whatever version of V6 Supercharger/3G Turbo that you want to install. I usually install the most recent beta releases. You can find the stable release from here Betas/tests are here.
3)Open Script Manager
4)Navigate to where you downloaded the script and select it
5)Check Run as Root
6)Touch Run
7)Follow the instructions as the script runs!
Highly recommended for everyone's phone!! It really turns your phone into something brand new!
Good find I'll have to give this a go.

You better check to see what version of busybox you are using or you are asking for a world of errors. I believe we are on version 1.19 and you need to be on 1.18.2 or lower. And you have to remember that a universal tweak or mod doesnt always work with our phones because samsung did something way different this time. So im just saying be careful!!!!!!

You can use busybox installer to downgrade to 1.18. I did and my cf-bench scores went up quite a bit. (With this and the Universal Adrenaline Shot.)
Phone seems more responsive and faster to switch apps now.

[Q] help new to this and galaxy s2 tmo

hey,
well title says it all, i got directed to come to xda for help. ive had smartphones but never have done or seen a phone rooted. i just picked up the gs2 coming from sensation and my hotspot is now locked down to having to pay 15 a month. was told by rooting you pickup free hotspot and sometimes paid apps. can someone provide me with download links and instructions step by step so i dont mess up my phone. thanks in advance.
ps its the t989 gs2
also i wwant to delete all these garbage bloatware apps always running to
Check the stickies in the general section. i think there's a thread in the development section too.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Just a heads up. Its against the forum rules to ask for paid apps for free. Not trying to be a jerk or anything.
I found that the method mentioned in the stickies in the Dev section pretty clear and straightforward, its noob friendly unlike the MTG4G which are a great mess. Once rooted, install titanium backup and freeze/delete the tethering manager app and you should be able to tether for free. You can get free apps while being on stock........
The link for free apps is in there somewhere, find it
I thought he meant he can now use paid apps that require root... Ahem right?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium

Go to the dev section. Download a rom. Flash it in recovery.

Here it is
To flash the kernel:
-Boot into recovery
-Wipe Cache
-Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache
-Install zip from SD Card
-Reboot and let it sit for a few minutes for the OS to load up completely (about 5 minutes should suffice)
-Reboot once more and install SetCPU which can be found in the Market for $1.99 or free here
Once installed open it up and AutoDetect Speeds and then select form the drop down menu SmartassV2 and you should be set
Did you find the ICS theme?
im sorry im new to this... did first root and flash yesterday...i did odiin then flashed the file on juggernaut in dev section.... to i need to do this kernel to? or is it just like a add on to go with it? also whats a good overclock setting?
A kernel is pretty much the main computing core of an operating system. If you're using the one that came with Jug's rom, you will experience some lag and random reboots. Eugenes kernel gives you better performance and battery life (if you wanna think about it that way). Just flash it, you wont regret it.
It's not hard at all either, pretty much the same process as flashing a ROM but instead you flash another zip file.
do i only need to wipe those cache? and not a full wipe as when i flashed the rom?

Correct. Wipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot then wait like 5-10 mins then reboot again
If the only thing you wabt to do is tether, then (only if u jave a 5gig or more plan) you can call tmo and they have a promotion going on right now that will give u tethering for free. Just give them a call, in the auto system say plans, then hit 0 and tell the rep about the promotion.

I would say Titanium Backup, Wifi tether for root users, and Rom toolbox are must have apps.
The toolbox and TB are both really awesome and packed to bursting with features
Oh and +1 to the guy above me on the ad blocker app, it really helps.
Oh and some sort of file browser, root browser has a nice GUI but tends to crash a lot, Root explorer is a little more reliable
Thanks for the replies guys! So glad I decided to root my device and hope to really get into all the ins and outs of rooting!

What i got on board my s3
What I am running is Frankenstein kill joy7 2.1 with the standard AGAT kernel .3.2 which comes with the ROM. It launches on APEX which for me is no big deal. Also Frankenstein also comes with almost no bloat ware.I have been through a few roms and found this one really nice. I have used CM10 and it was ok for me but liked the single core when the screen was off. Titanium is always excellent and even Pimp my ROM or ROM Customizer app. and Goo manager if you are ever plan on switching your ROM. If you are new at swapping ROMs biggest advice anyone could have told me is to do ALOT ALOT ALOT of research prior to switching to a new ROM nothing is more frustrating the a boot loop, soft brick or worse a BRICK. hope it helps and welcome to the custom ROM it gets better from here on out
Oh yes yes, usually some sort of build rpop editor andthe following recovery and managing apps (either one)
ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) + Rom Manager
TWRP and Goo manager
I would also HIGHLY recommend doing a lot of research (like the guy above me said) and you seem inclined so it shouldnt be a problem, a good start would be going to xda-university.com and reading through the entire "Users" section, it very thorough and easy to understand

that is a load of crap. This has been something peolpe have complained about since profiles were introduced. Hopefully it's well, because some of it would be pain trying to do with DirectoryBind or FolderMount. That's why some run scripts to switch the SD card for the internal memory.

You don't think that they're doing the same thing they're doing the exact same thing however its all scripted within the ROM itself. Because developers don't know that exact code so to speak that's why not implemented the the reason why we have to use an application that allows the script to run.

Haha...no need to get picky, or pick a fight. Built in is built in. I could care less how they do it.
I'm pretty much over my flash-happy days of manually applying tweak after tweak after every flash of a new ROM or kernel.
That's not to say I don't still apply things manually, I just try to minimize that as much as possible.

Yeah but doesn't this need a custom rom to be fully integrated?
I run the apps2sd script(From http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-n...sd-card-with-rooted-galaxy-note-2-app2sd-mod/) and use script manager to run it. I am on stock rooted. The problem I have is that every time I restart my phone, I have to manually run the script from script manager, it does not automatically run. And yes I have root and boot checked, and I've granted root permissions to busybox and script manager.
I just use FolderMount. Works well with games and other stuff.

ParanoidAndroid 4.3 Questions

I'm posting this here because the PA4.3 thread has been closed and I don't want to clutter the 4.4 thread asking about an old rom.
I've been lurking for awhile. I have experience with rooting/flashing plenty on the Evo4g (including some AOSP). On my Note 2, I've stuck to TW roms on my Note 2. Im looking to hop into the AOSP world and I think this is the ROM I want to try (the kitkat version doesn't have features/stability from what I've read). However, I have a couple questions.
1) Of course I will nandroid my TW rom. If I decide I want to go back, is it as simple as restoring my backup? Or are there additional steps going from AOSP back to TW nandroid?
2) I see various versions/builds & kernels listed in this thread? Can someone please suggest a reliably stable build/kernel for me to start out with that has everything working?

Hey, I've been running paranoid 3.99 for a while and it has great battery life, even on stock rom, you can use plasma kernel with it or Devil kernel, your choice, flash the latest stable and you should be fine, also look for the SD card restore zip if you ever go back to TW you are going to need it, its buried in to the cm 10 thread just look for it, also make sure you get stweaks from play store and if you have issues send me a pm and I will be glad to help you, good luck!

Let me know what file you need and I'll upload it to my dropbox, you don't need a SD card, just get the room zip in the root of your internal SD, wipe or do a factory reset in twrp/cwm flash the zip and gapps... Reboot... Do the initial setup and restore your apps or start from scratch if you prefer... Good luck!
