[Q] Can't get LTE - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

So I've been using Cyanogenmod night lies for since the GS3 launched and have never gotten LTE I always thought that coverage hadn't gotten to my area but finally decided to check with a local sprint store and the guy that worked there had the same phone with full 4g. So now I've realized it's something with my phone. I did some research and checked that it might possible be my baseband so as of the moment I'm running MC3 withcCyanogenmod still. But still no 4G. Anyone have any idea what u may be doing wrong? Thanks

Make sure your phone is set to LTE/CDMA/EvDo instead of CDMA/EvDo auto in the mobile network settings.

^^yeah turn it on.

I have it turned on, and I've tried switching it back and forth a few times + the airplane mode trick etc.

Make a nandroid backup of your current setup and then flash a TW ROM and see if you can get LTE then. If you still can't try updating your profile & PRL.

Need Help, Friend Updated with Froyo OTA and Now No 3G Data?!?!?!

A good friend of mine waited to receive the OTA update of Froyo for his Incredible and when he got it he installed it. The bad part that I need help with is that when his phone rebooted it wouldn't allow the 3G data network to work. That section in settings is greyed out saying "Turning on..." and will not connect. The phone portion runs just fine. I have since returned the phone back to 2.1 and the same problem persists. If someone could help us out that would be awesome!!!
This probably wasn't posted in the right section...
I had an issue with 3G not connecting after downloading the froyo OTA off the internet and applying it as an update.zip.
I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but mine seemed to be that it wouldn't switch from the wifi network to the 3G network after getting out of range of the wifi (its set to auto connect to my home wifi, so it went straight to that after I rebooted it after the update). Then it wouldn't connect with the wifi off. I think I turned off both wifi and 3G and rebooted it with them off, and then turned back on 3G, and it worked. Everything is working normally now.
I'm not really sure why this would happen, I was wondering if it possibly had something to do with the phone registering itself after the update, and then not registering the 3G because it was on wifi and sort of "forgot?" That's just idle speculation though...
Also you might want to clear out your cache.
This might not be related to your problem, but I hope it helps!

Thanks for your effort, it did not work unfortunately.
Did he happen to have anything that controls 3G installed? Tasker? Juicedefender?
If he powered off while the data we disabled, and updated, then 3G won't work. Period.
I've heard of ways of restoring the APN or something, search the forums on that.

He did not have any type of app like that. He is a very novice user. I tried searching for restoring APN with no luck, anyone else?
When I first flashed Virtuous2.0 and did the initial setup, I didn't get 3G either. I'm pretty sure a good old fashioned *228 did the trick. I did have a backup through APN Backup & Restore, but didn't need to use it.
Have you tried turning on the airport mode, rebooting, turning off airport mode. Or perhaps do a *228?

Tried this too and no luck.
Go to Verizon and tell them to fix it fix fix it fix it! If he's running stock its nothing he did. Sounds super bunk that they finally got froyo only to not be able to use 3g.
The loss of 3g data is a bug with the froyo builds. All the froyo roms and the official ota have this issue.

this just happened to my friend too. I updated his phone last week with the OTA and since then he hasn't had 3g, but wifi would work.
did a rom manager backup before hand though, so i told him to revert back, and everything is working again. not sure why flashing back didn't work for you
So he hasn't had 3g at all? He can make calls and a *228 option # 1 doesn't update his settings and reboot? Maybe something when wrong on the install, whats hboot say?
Assuming he's completely stock I'd suggest going to the Verizon store and having them try.

Phone won't connect to network.

Hi I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and today I simply stopped receiving signal on it. I don't know how or why. I didn't flash anything or even use my phone at all. At one point it was working fine, then I noticed that where my signal bars should be, I have nothing but greyed out bars and an "X" on top of that. This was hours ago. I called T-Mobile(I use T-Mobile Prepay) and they had me do several things like remove battery and sim, and nothing helped. I have a custom ROM(Black Bean). I have used this ROM for weeks with no issue. Just to make sure I did a nandroid and I restored my old Stock-Rooted ROM. Still no signal. I then did a full wipe did a full wipe and installed Black Bean 3.1.2(older version which I know for a fact works fine) on a clean install. Still there is no signal. If I try to make a call, it tells me to turn off Airplane mode before making a call. But I am 100% that Airplane mode isn't on. I can go and turn it on, then back off even. Still I have no signal. I have no way of knowing if this is my phone or T-Mobile having tower problems. I called but they don't know anything since it was the pre-pay support line call center in India.
I have been generally disappointed with T-mobiles service. I would gladly give up the rest of my current month and re-subscribe to Straight Talk with ATTs Towers right now, but I'd have to get service going with them again and that would cost 45 bucks. And it's a waste if there is something wrong with my phone. So now I don't know what to do! =/
Edit: Quick update, I put in my Straight Talk SIM thinking that even if it were out of minutes, it would at least let me connect to the towers so that I can add more. Still nothing. If I hold down power(under stock) it brings up the power screen and that tells me that Airplane Mode is on even though I have it off in settings. If i click on that message, it says "Airplane Mode is OFF" but it isn't really, because if I go out and back in again, it's back to saying that it's on. However, I do have it turned off in my settings. I will also mention that WIFI does work.
Check if you activated the 2G option under Mobile settings. I had a similar issue a few weeks back. Almost drove me mad.

Sounds like your phone is the problem if there's discrepancies about whether airplane mode is on.

[Q] Network Issue with rooted T-Mobile Galaxy S3

So I've had this phone for over two week now, and I rooted it and flashed it with FrostyJB v5. Everything was running well (excluding the battery life, which was better in v4 but that's a different topic). I was at my school connected to their wifi earlier tonight and when I left school, I can't make any phone calls (i have a circle with a slash through it where my signal bar would normally be). I think it has something to do with my APN or network or something? I'm honestly new to this. I would appreciate it if some one could help me solve this problem. The phone is a T-Mobile phone, which I bought from a T-Mobile dealership. The SIM was working properly until tonight. I tried removing the SIM and rebooting, putting the SIM back in, rebooting. etc.
TLDR: My 4G doesn't work, I'm not connected to any APN, my phone is rooted and flashed with FrostyJB v5 but I bought it from a T-mobile dealership with a T-mobile sim card. Help. Please.
I can provide addtional information if needed
Is your imei still there? Check it in settings/about phone. And are you sure airplane mode is not checked? Were you doing anything developement wise when it went out?

my imei is still there. it is not in airplane mode. I can't connect to my 4G or my T-Mobile network. I was not doing any development when it suddenly turned off. I was walking out of my school around 11:00pm CST (if it helps, I get no reception at my school's building). I turned my wifi off and turned my 4G on via drop down menu and it wouldnt connect. I tried rebooting my phone several times, using HOT BOOT and REBOOT.
Can an mod/admin close this thread out? I solved the issue. You need to turn off wifi calling for it to work. dur. sorry

LTE driving me insane, lose it after switching to airplane mode.

Hello, I am on a rooted stock Jelly Bean Telus ROM with default recovery (I flashed the rooted stock image through ODIN). Every now and then I will lose LTE even though I am in an LTE area. I try to do the trick of turning on airplane mode and turning it off to get the connection to reset. This actually doesn't do anything. HOWEVER, if I restart the phone, I get LTE back with 20 seconds. Once it restarts it can stay on LTE for a long time. Even when I get a call it'll go to 4G and then switch to LTE once I finish.
But here's the kicker. If after I restart it, get LTE, THEN switch to airplane mode and switch back, it will never, ever connect to LTE again. I have to restart the phone to get it back. I've just done a hard reset and the same problem occurs. This sounds completely ridiculous and I've tried everything. Has anyone heard of anything as absurd as this?

Had the exact same problem with a Telus rom, I dont suppose you're on ATT by any chance?. Mine wouldn't connect to the mobile data network when coming off a wifi connection and would just hang in limbo until i switch mobile data on and off. Dumped it and went to a ATT based rom, problem solved. One thing I noticed is that the APN options with the telus rom are different than ATT roms, the apn type in particular
Ask in Q&A or the sticky thread for LTE
Thanks

[Q] can't get 4g/lte when traveling

When I was at home I'd get a good lte signal.
I've been traveling the last week and I've been on 3g the whole time. I've been in chicago the last two days and still on 3g.
I've tried restarting, updating profile/prl, switching on and off airplane mode.
This note 4 is running stock rom, I've only rooted it and done the sql hack to enable the WiFi hotspot (which I haven't bothered to use since it's 3g).
Baseband n910pvpu1bob7
Any ideas why 4g/lte isn't working or how to fix it?
Edit: checked the network settings and for reason only cdma was on. Switched out to both and I'm good now. Mod can delete this post if you want
Lol classic
So how were you getting a good LTE signal at home if your phone was set to CDMA only the whole time?

I think it switched over to cdma when i was showing someone the ultra power saving mode and when i switched it back to normal mode, i guess it didn't switch lte back on. I didnt notice the lack of LTE when i switched power saving on since I was on wifi at the time.

Lol that makes perfect sense as it has happened to me b4. Sometimes it stays on cdma mode when turning off ultra power saving. Must be a glitch because it mostly reverts to the previous setting when turning it off.
