Mounting to computer doesn't work

This is not a problem with my phone its a friends.
He has tried every cm9 stable, cm10, and other roms to see if it would fix he tried Odin back to stock but his phone wouldn't show up. He has all the drivers installed. But mounting mass storage just doesn't work. I've read a few threads where people say its a bug with t-989 but I'm not sure cause I don't own the phone.
Once again this is not my phone its a friends. I own a skyrocket he owns t989. Just trying to figure it out for him. Thanks for your support.
Edit: oh and it does charge through USB port just doesn't mount.

Do you have USB debugging checked in application/development?

Restart both devices. Sometimes that is the easiest and best solution. Well, that and beer.

Phone freezing Shell granted su access?

My phone has been locking up on the homescreen. I can't scroll pages or open apps. It then comes back to working and says "shell granted su access" on the bottom of the screen . Are these two instances connected ? How do I fix it from freezing like this?
Mine does the exact same thing, have no idea what causes it but it does become a pita!

OK, did this appear after rooting or after flashing a ROM once rooted? If it is first option how did you root (link would be helpful) and what is your superuser app?

Okay so I had this same problem happen again and so I started searching all over and came across a thread in the i9300 section where another was having a similar problem. He concluded that after the phone had been up for 24 hours or so there was a big memory leak with kiesexe found in /system/bin. So he made a cwm zip that disabled kiesexe in that folder. I flashed it the other day and haven't had that problem yet and I've also gained about 100 mb more ram! I'm just heading to bed so I'll post it all tomorrow for anybody else having that stupid issue!

Fixed it on mine by installing supersu from market ..make sure to give it root access then remove superuser.. there is some bug in last version OS superuser.

Exynos Mem Bug Expolit

There is currently a bug in samsung kernel that will allow any app to obtain root even on non rooted devices without any prompts this could be potentially be very damaging if it's a malicious app
App to verify if you are affected https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lowlevel.exynosmembug
Temp fix apk *requires root though*

I believe previous exploits like super one click involved running the apk and commands were done in terminal and adb debug had to be checked off so the user should be well aware of it running. I'm not certain but I believe this one will allow an app to get root even on unrooted phones with out access to terminal so pretty much without the user knowing. Well any how I just prefer to be safe.
I rooted jb with it

It's an easier way to root than being tethered a computer and having to use odin. Especially with the jellybean leaks.

Have you tried using a different USB port / cord? I know that our phones don't play well with 3.0 usb ports.

Awesome, I felt like it had something to do with the hardware. Just a hunch?

Note 2 rooted but wouldn't connect to galaxy gear

So I had my note 2 rooted with cm rom received galaxy gear and nfc wouldn't work I would get a empty tag and gear wouldn't connect via bluetooth so the I made sure I found a rom that was 4.3 flashed that one and still no luck so basically I had to go back to stock and unroot which I hate. So basically what I'm asking is am I able to have my phone rooted and still connect to my gear? I have my gear rooted with null rom.

Should not be a problem.
(ROM) Sky Note Air - 4.3[I317MK6-MJ4-MK4 Hybrid] 1-22-14 has GALAXY GEAR ONE STOP SHOP v3 in Post #3.
That is a 4.3 ROM that is rooted.
