Hey there xda.
I have an i747m with rogers, and I am on stock touchwiz..
Phone is rooted, reset, wiped, update cwm, and whenever I try to install any custom rom (carbon, liquid, paranoid) I get installation aborted (bad)
Please help
THanks
Have you tried TWRP instead of CWM?
Install this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5zMHVwLmdvb21hbmFnZXIiXQ..
Then go to settings in the app and select "install openrecovery script".
Then reboot and try to install a ROM again.
What version of cwm is it? And just to double check, you're using i747m rom releases, correct?
Ive never tried anything other than cwm so I will, also I just use roms that are for i747 and that are in the rogers section..
I never see any roms that say i747m they all say i747

Make sure your recovery is the d2att version not the d2can version. It doesn't matter if you flash any i747 ROM on an i747m the only thing is you may have to set your APN manually other than that everything will work

Alright awesome, so do you think the issue is my cwm? Maybe someone couls.give me a link to one that works for them?
Thanks for all the replies so promptly its really appreciated
Also that goo app downloaded a recovery that is d2can

Use this recovery works better than cwm on my i747m.

Yes. Or you can just use the terminal emulator way which you can do from your phone if you feel comfortable enough doing so.

alright so I used teamwin recovery and I tried to use a rom I am positive works, liquidsmooth. and It said unable to open zip..

so twrp installed correctly? and once you booted into custom recovery (twrp) you werent able to install zip from sdcard?
Redownload the ROM and try again. Just to be sure, you are not trying to flash it using ROM manager or too manager?

Nope installing straight from twrp and its not working..
Im installing from external sd card, and I've tried carbon rom and liquid neither seems to work.

you could redownload a ROM and try again or flash this in recovery: twrp2.4.4.0
flash it and reboot recovery (under advanced i believe). its obviously a previous version of twrp and may allow you to flash the ROM zip

So I am new to this whole Android/Smartphone thing. However over the past week I have learned so much.
However, I am unable to install Cyanogenmod 10 successfully. Each time I tried to install it through CWM all I would get is installation abort.
I have rooted my phone, wipe the phone memory, partition, and dalvik cache. Also, I am trying to install the lasted version of Cyanogenmod 10, I have put the file on the internal and external SD with no success.
Any help would be great, thanks.
Does it give an error?
Try TWRP instead of cwm.
Have you installed any mods or messed with the build.prop? Google wallet?

Here is the link to the cell fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732722.
Also how do you use twrp do you install it like you did with cwm?
Ill try to remember to pull tha apart later to take a look. It shouldn't cause you any problems though. It should've just replaced a couple files and it shouldn't be causing you any problems.
Yes you can install twrp any way you csn install cwm.
Easiest is to download goo manager from market, press menu and install openrecovery script.
That's it.

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S III I747M through Bell, but am a bit lost with ROM flashing. I flashed to new ROM's quite frequently on my old Motorola Milestone, but I am a bit confused with the ROM's for the S III since there are so many variants.
My main question is, as a Bell user am I limited to only d2bell roms or can I change information in the build props or elsewhere to flash d2att roms? I am currently running rooted CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 and my have been unsuccessful so far in flashing ROMs.

I had the same problem but prefer twrp over cwm so all I did was change my build.prop in rom toolbox, then downloaded goo.im from the playstore. You can flash twrp in app and because I changed the build.prop to say dtatt instead of d2can,it installed the at&t recovery, now I have no problem flashing anything. Hope that helps.

i initially got twrp via goo w/o chaning d2can to d2att. I've made backups etc already.
If i decide to change to d2att and resintall twrp as d2att
1) can I use the older d2can backups?
2) does reinstalling it on top of d2can's twrp work?
thanks!

Does changing from a d2can to d1att version of twrp work the same way? I can just flash on top of the existing wihtout any uninstalls and im assuming the d2att can still load d2can backups?
I know twrp are backward compatible, but are they cross version compatible?

I honestly have no idea. I know twrp update through goo manager is automatic so you would have to manually install it.
If you flash that recovery file it only changes your version of cwr.

I'm helping my friend install cyanogenmod on his sgh-i747m (telus), and we are having great difficulty. The phone is rooted, and TWRP 4.2.2 (or whatever's newest) is installed from the goomanager app. On everything he tries he gets a status 7 error. Phone is always wiped prior to flash, both internal and external memory have been tried, and the rom has been redownloaded several times. Even tried cm10 stable and PA 3.0.
Any suggestions? Could using cwm instead of twrp help? If so how do I replace twrp with cwm?
Going to sleep hoping there will be some suggestions in the morning. Thanks in advance.

Yo can also get a status 7 if your phone is marked as a d2can. Some ROMs have a device check prior to flashing to prevent a brick. You have to install a recovery as a d2att and they'll flash.

Hi,
I have the Google Play Edition rom installed on T-Mobile Galaxy S4. I have accidentaly deleted the Clockworkmod folder from the internal storage. Now I can reboot in CWM recovery however on the main CMW screen I see a "Warning: No File_Contexts".
Should I be worried about this? Will I able able to flash a different rom, do and restore a nandroid back up with this warning?
If not what should I do to make the warning disappear?
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah I just got my phone yesterday, and I've had this problem every time I've booted into CWM Recovery. I updated, tried different versions - didn't matter, still get the "no file_contexts" error.
I even tried TWRP and OUDHS Recovery, and had the same issue. I don't know what exactly is causing it, but it hasn't really negatively affected anything that I can see.
Just ignore it. Everything works fine.

I have the same error message and I have no problem making nandroid backups. I always check the option bank up to external sd card. It works perfectly fine. Also flashes go just fine too. Don't worry about the error message. Not sure but I think saying no files are backed up to INTERNAL storage which is fine because you generally want them stored on your EXTERNAL sd storage anyway. If they went to internal you would loose most of your phones memory with a few backups. So don't worry. All is well. Just store your nandroid to external sd card. When its time to restore simply choose backup from EXTE R NAL sd card. So don't worry about that message. Hope this helps
