Hi I have a HTC One V on VM. Recently my phones 3g has pretty much been non existent. Occasionally the 3g will work but only for a few minutes. And the option to "Activate this device" is always showing in settings. I do the activate, and it says succesful, and reboots phone, but then nothing changes same old problems.
Any Ideas?

Today I noticed that one of my G2s was stuck on 2G and so I thought maybe I had reached my 5gb limit but then I switched SIM cards and I know it hasn't reached anywhere near the 5gb limit. I also switched SIMs and put it in another one of my G2s and I have H and 3g. I restarted the phone that has been stuck in 2G and it was still stuck I restored a rom that I had installed a few days before (H and 3G were working on it) and it was still stuck on 2G so I wiped it and reinstalled cm6.1.1 and it's still stuck in 2G.
Any ideas?
Did you make sure that you don't have use only 2G networks in the settings?

yes I did and I also use superpower but I checked it and after wiping it just remains in 2G so I don't think superpower could be doing it. I'm lost not sure what else to try I've just put Enom's new rom it and it's still stuck on Edge. While my other G2 is sitting right next to it pulling H while I tether my laptop to it while I'm at work.

Try dialing *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone info. and change the preferred network type. I think it's supposed to be on WCDMA preferred, but you could put it to WCDMA only if you want, that's how I have mine.

I just set it to that a couple of hours ago so I don't really know how it affects the battery. I thought I had it on but I guess it changed from when I tried out a Sense ROM then went back to CM.
Glad I helped.
Hi guys, I recently started having problem with reception, sometimes data would go off, sometimes I can't send texts or calls even though it shows full bars and sometimes it completely cuts off. I've updated the radio to the latest, it worked for a minute and then it stops working, but now my phone restarts itself after a while as well (it boots up). This happens with several ROMs I tried. What's going on? I'm on Orange UK if it helps.

*#*#4636#*#*
Phone settings, network type, WCDMA preferred or GSM auto
if that doesn't work then I dunno. Maybe it's a bad sim.

I tried both options, it now says emergency calls only. I'll swap sims and see how it goes

I tried something really bizarre... I switched my speakers off. I can now get signal. So damn weird! Anyway thanks a lot for your help, I'll be hitting that thanks
Hi.
I have m919 T-Mobile Galaxy s4 but I'm with other carrier (Wind Canada).
I spent yesterday in environment where I didn't had coverage for most of the day, but i haven't gotten it back yet. Sounds really weird as it might be not connected to the fact at all. I have 4G connection active, which means that I have internet, but it keeps 'searching' for service and I can't Call/Text anyone, neither I can receive calls or texts. Instead of the bar at the top showing how good coverage i have it just shows a crossed out circle icon.
I've tried reboots, keeping my phone off for 30mins without battery, taking out sim and putting it back in, changing network modes and resetting APN (all from settings panel).
Have anyone experienced something like that and how do I fix it? It was working perfectly for last couple of months and the phone didn't get any damage yesterday neither.

Try to go into settings>more networks>mobile networks>network operators and click "search now".
That will bring up the available networks and you need to choose the network which is your carrier.
It may take a few minutes until it stops scanning so have patience and don't back out of networks.
Good luck!

I've tried that! After a while it finds my network, the coverage bars appear for a while, but then they disappear. During that time when they're appeared I can't make any calls either, once it gave me error that It can't register to network which is weird because my data is running from sim pretty good. Today I tried to go to my operator store to let me try a different SIM card - no change.

Do you have any other suggestions? By the way I rooted the phone about 1.5 months ago if that makes any difference.
I'm really desperate for solution :/

I suggest you reset your device to factory default. If that doesn't work, unroot your device and return to stock. If still it doesn't work, bring your device for warranty.
I have a problem with LG G3 858HK (dual sim).
Sometimes (once/twice a day) phone loses all signal, tries to connect, connects and loses signal again, again connects, loses and so on, and so on. It’s not only data, it loses mobile signal as well. And it happens in all kinds of areas, even where signal is full 4G. Usually nothing helps, except switching the phone off/on again or pulling the battery. Sometimes when switching it off while having this issue, it wouldn’t switch on again pressing power button. Again, opening it up and pulling the battery helps. Sometimes only connecting wifi/ disconnecting wifi helps.
Phone is running rooted android 6.0 (tried few ROMS, rooted/non-rooted - same thing). I tried everything to solve it: factory reset, changing sims, running with one sim, running with 2 sims (its dual sim phone), un-rooting, rooting again, multiple ROM's, tried all kinds of settings - nothing helps. The issue is probably with the phone. Sadly, warranty is expired.
Video of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq7_jm0-Hp8
The signal in the area where video was captured is really good, full 4G normally.
Anyone got any idea what could be wrong with it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Anybody?

It wouldnt be worth using my smart phone for GSM mode only. Then it would be better just to buy some old Nokia 3310 But I'll try.
Hello guys!
My HTC One M9 is giving me some headaches!
What is happening is that if I'm inside home, I cannot get GSM network. This happens for both voice and data.
As soon as I go outside, I get the 4G working like a charm. I could live with this, but sometimes I need to sleep inside home
From my troubleshooting around this, I found out that if I reset the phone, there is no change.
Reset network settings does nothing.
Sometimes if I restart the phone I get network, but it goes away quickly.
No change if I enable and disable the flight mode.
What does work is if I set the network mode to be 2G only, then I have the network and all works (except the data with some low speeds).
The phone is now with the build 4.28.401.3
I've tried different RUUs and it is the same thing.
Can someone help to try to understand what can be the cause for this?
.... could it be a network issue?

Of the phone, yes.
I've tried the SIM card on another phone and it works really great! I've tried a different SIM card on this phone and it is the same thing. Loss of connectivity.

Yes, I have noticed a similar issue and it has been very annoying. I know that in my area, I can get 4g+, but it only picks it up sometimes and goes away. Also, I have very strong 4g signal around my area but for some reason, it always uses 2g and sometimes gives my 4g, but rarely. I think it has something to do with the way sense automatically switches between networks.
Try typing in *#*#4636#*#*, press phone information and where it says some thing like lte/wcdma auto and select what you prefer. I chose lte/wcdma and now I only get 4g and 3g signals which is acceptable. If you want GSM or something, choose it as preferred. Play around with the different ones and see which is best for you.
If not, try a non sense rom, I don't know if that would help but give it a go.
Hope this helps,
Jev
Well, I've tried different settings, but it does the same. Only when using 2G or GSM only it works inside home.
I am yet to test with a non-sense ROM. Because for me, having an HTC is also because I like sense.
Either way, it seems to me that it can be hardware and not software.
Do someone knows what controls this network settings? A different board? A chip?
You mention applying the Nougat RUU for your phone - did you first update to Nougat via OTA?
The update was made via OTA. A regular update but this was already happening before the update.

:-/ Darn. Good on you for updating correctly, for sure, but that eliminates the problem I was anticipating.
Could be a carrier issue. If the other phone that has a good signal is an m9 then obviously your phone has a fault. If it was a different model and/or brand then you should learn something about "industry standards" as far as signal detection and interpretation goes. Just because one certain type/model/brand of phone has a good signal it doesn't mean another "has to".
