Looks like yesterday (04/13/2013) the Sony Xperia ZL has been introduced into the list of CyanogenMod's officially supported devices (Wiki and CM ROM download page)!
That's some excellent news!!!
Sony Xperia ZL CM Wiki Page
Sony Xperia ZL (Odin) Latest Nightly Build Download page
I got my ZL last week and I absolutely love it (one C6502 and one C6503. Not sure which one I'll get to keep/sell... Currently there's no 4G LTE coverage where I live in Brazil).
On 04/16/2013 I decided that I'll keep the C6503. So I unlocked its bootloader via Sony's Developer original method and then I just followed the Odin's Wiki page walkthrough for flashing CM 10.1 to my phone. It all worked out perfectly. Hint: To get into CWM recovery you have to press and release the volume up and down at the same time a few times (until the led turns purple) when you turn on the device. It took me a while to get it right. I was used to my SGS where you just have to press power+volume up to get to recovery. A lot easier in my opinion.
A little history: I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 since Feb 2011 (now running latest CM 10.1 nightly). I love it to death and now I use it as a secondary-backup-work phone (specially when I travel abroad on GSM/HSDPA only networks). If it wasn't for the CyanogenMod community (particularly Pawitp and Stratosk) my phone would've been long dead along with Gingerbread 2.3.3... $am$ung has lost my business with its unfriendly developer support and ugly-ass colored phones and UI, girly looking round phones starting with the Samsung Galaxy S 3 and 4.
Please let me know if there's something new on those pages above, if I notice something new I'll keep you guys posted!
Cheers!
For those interested, here's some of the bugs I've experienced/noticed while using latest official CM 10.1 nightly:
When my phone is locked with the screen black (locked), after I push the power button, the screen lights up, and even though I did not unlock the phone, I'm able to change volume settings by pressing the volume rocker. This should not happen unless there's a video or audio playing in the background.
***Update: his hasn't been "fixed", apparently that's the new behavior and it's going to be that way – period.
When I push the power button to unlock the phone there's a short lag until the display comes 'alive' (others have mentioned this as well).
***Update: Fixed!
When I connect the phone to my stereo Bluetooth speakers by Logitech to listen to online music through 'A Online Radio', the phone goes to sleep as it normally does after a little while. If I try to wake up the phone it will freeze. I have to press the reset button to reboot phone.
***Update: bluetooth connection has been fixed, but now there's another bug that cuts the first 2 seconds off a song when it first starts playing or whatever you skip between tracks.
Wi-Fi is switching itself off a while after the phone sleeps. Regardless of setting for being always on. I've also noticed that the Wi-Fi resets itself randomly then I wake up the phone.
***Update: fixed (apparently)
It is taking significantly longer to fully charge the battery when compared to the stock Sony ROM (original Sony's charger used). And while the phone is being used sometimes it doesn't charge at all. You can see by the graph that it is depleting the battery instead of charging it. I'll try to take a snapshot of it.
***Update: that has been fixed, but if your phone is too warm, it won't charge at all. Make sure you always use the stock charger and short cable that came with your phone.
Notification bar 'sliding brightness' feature is only working after you pass through the half right portion of the notification bar.
***Update: not fixed
Lowest level of brightness is not as dark/dim as Sony's stock ROM.
***Update: not fixed, but I've noticed that on stock firmware the automatic brightness is darker than the lowest manual brightness that we can set, so that's the same behavior apparently.
Sometimes when the I receive a call, it starts to vibrate, the phone freezes and locks up, it still remains vibrating, the screen remains black (locked), and the only way to make it work again is to press the reset button. The alarm also did this once, it behaved just like that one time.
***Update: fixed!
Battery usage seems to be a little bit higher than stock ROM. But it's hard to find the culprit there...
***Update: it has been improved but I still feel that stock (very first stock firmware) had the best battery life.
During regular phone calls the speakerphone does not work.
***Update: fixed!
While I was on a phone call tonight, I pressed the back button to get me all the way back to home screen. Then I pressed the camera button to take a photo. The camera loaded and took the photo. Immediately after that, the phone locked up with a black screen. About 5 seconds after that black screen the phone started vibrating. I had to press the reset button to reboot the phone.
***Update: fixed!
***Official July-05-2013 CM 10.1 nightly all stock.***
Yo! Looking for current CyanogenMod (CM11) development for your Sony Xperia ZL/ZQ (Odin) Changelog??? Click HERE!!!
Here's my quick overview of CM11 (Jan 13th 2014) on my Xperia ZL C6503.
I honestly think PIE Control was much better than this new, hidden virtual controls that has been implemented. This new one present on CM11 just doesn't work as intended, and I find myself pressing menus (from within an app) when I try to back out of it. I really wish someone would/could bring back PIE Controls on CM 11.
There are some other issues with Jan 13th 2014 build when it comes to functionality and some missing options/menus that were present in CM 10.1 for example.
The new camera menus are absolute crap. I can work with that, but please, someone bring back the Store on External SD card option. That's an essential feature.
The icons on default launcher are huge. What's up with that? It's all bloated and washed out... Does it look like THAT bad on a Nexus 5??? This time around I was thinking of keeping the default launcher but it looks like crap so... Any suggestions for a new launcher? I've always had Apex Pro on my previous CM installs.
The default Web Browser (I think it's called Chromium?) is performing so poorly this time around... It basically seem to have lost all of my bookmarks cause it just refuses to pull them out of the cloud like it always did since CM7 up until CM10.2. The zooming feature (double tap) just refuses to work properly. I keep on double tapping the screen and nothing happens. It's really frustrating...
I've downloaded about 11 pdf files off the internet and the system kept tabs on it as it should, but when I tried to pull down the notification bar it was performing very poorly the animation was choppy for both quick settings menu and notifications bar. Clearing the notifications history fixed this. But should this ever occur?
For some reason I'm unable to uninstall system apps with Titanium Backup or any other app.
Thank goodness DSP Manager is working properly this time around. But....
Bluetooth connection sucks. It is really really bad. It constantly cuts and skips the music playback every other 5 - 15 seconds. Is there someone looking into that? In comparison, my almost 4 year old Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 is rockin' CM 11 without this problem.
I think that this is about it. Other than that the system seems to be working properly. I can't comment on anything else since I've got CM11 running on my Xperia ZL less than 5 hours ago.
I would like to take the time to thank FXP, FreeXperia Project and the rest of the community and developers that are constantly improving and enhancing the code and the experience for all of us.

DooMLoRD! Woah! It's an absolute honor to hear from you Mr.!
I was doing some diggin' on you and FXP as well after I read on Odin's Wiki page that you were the maintainers for my new device! It's really a great pleasure having you here, taking the time to stop by to give me the heads up! Thank you!
After so many years with my Galaxy S i9000, I was really afraid of getting a phone that eventually would have no official CyanogenMod support. I'm so glad to see that my new device is now fully supported by the CM community! Heck yeah!
Phew, what a relief, man!
So, what is the difference between CyanogenMod and the FreeXperia ?
I mean FreeXperia ROM is available for the ZL since some weeks... and for my understanding it is the same!?

in my understanding this doesnt change much.
FXP was an unofficial CM build and now it's official. The quality remains.
Maybe the pros are that now the project can use official repository and download servers. And of course has more "world attention" since it's official :good:

Yup, couldn't agree more.
My biggest concern when I got the phone last week was the fear of getting it overshadowed by other major releases like the HTC ONE and the Galaxy S 4. I was afraid that the devs just wouldn't be interested in the device. But now that the device has made into the official CM10.1 ROM list, there's absolutely nothing to worry about...!

Did you erase your IMEI or something? If you deleted the "backup" folder in the root of your internal SD card it might have caused this, I don't really know if it was the case for you since I haven't had a chance (time) to flash CM 10.1 on my ZL just yet...

So today I successfully unlocked the bootloader (following Sony Developer's website walkthrough) and then loaded CWM recovery as explained at the ZL's (Odin) Wiki page.
After successfully completing both of these steps I managed to get into CWM recovery and flash CM 10.1 and rebooted my ZL.
At first everything seemed to be working properly. After the initial boot screen and device initialization, it looked like I had just gotten a brand new 5" Google Nexus phone made by Sony straight out of the box. It was absolutely brilliant.
But then, after I successfully placed a call and talked on the phone for like 2 minutes, the phone went black. None of the buttons would work. I had to open the back cover and press the reset button for the phone to work again.
After reboot, I could not place any calls again...
I'm wondering what the problem is...
Anyone?
Edit:
I wiped the phone all over again and flashed CM 10.1 one more time. After reboot and initial setup, the phone worked just fine, no problems making or receiving calls.
One big remark though: The speaker phone (loud speaker) does not work. You press the button and it does absolutely nothing. So if that is a deal breaker for you, you may want to keep your original Sony ROM rockin' for a little longer until the problem is solved.

These two issues are well documented and discussed. Seem to be common on all AOSP roms. For the GSM signal, the best thing to do would be to flash baseband only using flashtool. Or you could play around with enabling/ disabling airplane mode and see if that works for you (for me it does)
The speaker during calls doesnt work and enabling it results in complete loss of audio through both the speaker and the earpiece. To fix it just restart your phone.

Hello people!
I have not long been using AOKP for very long, but i can say overall i love it, i have a few issues though.
I am aware of course it is a unofficial ROM and to expect it to run perfectly would be ridiculous and i was hoping if anybody had experienced anything similar and had any solutions?...
- My headphone jack has 100% stopped working since installing is ROM, i even reinstalled an old backup of MIUIv4 and it was working fine so it defiantly isn't the hardware.
- Black screen notifications, if i received an IM like whatsapp or even a SMS my led would light up and the screen backlight will turn on but its just a black screen?
- Fail to unlock screen first time around, now this doesn't happen all the time, maybe 30-40% of the time, but ill press the unlock button... the backlight will turn on but again its just a black screen, so i have to re-lock and unlock again and it will 100% work the second time... its kind of annoying.
Other than that the ROM works fine for me, i really don't want to lose the JB OS... is there a stable alternative maybe? or hopefully a simple fix.
By the way is based on their latest build.
Thanks!

thanks for that man... im gonna read a little more into but it seems like the best choice... will defiantly check it out!
UPDATE: ive given the ROM a go and i must say its a lot more stable than i thought it would be when its a "mishmash" of different ROMs put together.
i still have the headphone jack issue thought, i read a few other forums that people are experiencing using ROMs based on CM10... have you not had this issue?
Hello guys,
Who ever is looking for a good stable, good looking KK rom, you have to checkout Carbon rom.
This is better than all the other roms I've have tried, and believe me I've have tried quite a few roms.
It's smooth, customizations is the best part off this rom and can be done with ease.
Give it a try, and I promise you will not want to change it for another rom for some time.
Happy modding.
Carbon rom
Yea great rom but beta 4 is more bugged than beta 3 do not create pin lock screen because it got bugged to me and i couldn't unlock mobile, had to reinstall rom with cleaning all apps . By now i can say that games are also not working properly- can'y launch injustice. And pobably lot more Beta 3 is more stable by now
I am having some issues with this rom as well. Though I cannot really report in the original thread I will complain first here.
The black screen after the video is still happening. I don't really know what the problem is, but the work around I used before (Use GPU for 2D drawing and Disable GPU Hardware Overlays) is not working anymore. The moment you click in the very last option i mentioned, the screen goes black and bye bye my friends.
Let's see if I can make this message reach the creator of the ROM.
Thanks!
Keep talking (writing!) people.
I enjoy this kind of feedback personally, and i am on the verge on unlocking my bootloader in order to attempt 4.4
There is nothing more to hope for out of 4.1 builds i think.
I am currently on nature, which is absolutely fantastic and its creators are really active. However feature - wise and speed wise , it is not going to get any better than it already is...
Lets all hope that german exams will be over soon......if you know what i am talking about
Rayman's return eagerly awaited
s
Generally i aslo can't comment the dev topic so games aren't working, had some issue with the screen (coulnd't wake up) and do not create pin lock as i wrote in previos post becasue it got bugged (can"t type any number but i can hear vibration after typing numbers) and had to reinstall rom. Generaly beta 3 is more stable by now OH and i do not have any problems with camera sa others claim in the dev's topic
GREAT!
I can't post in the dev forums yet so here I am.
Thanks for the new rom! Works great! AOSPA isn't very stable for my Acro S atm so this will do for now. In fact this feels much more stable than the other AOSP roms so far. Good job and thank you, dev!

I have been using BETA4 for a couple of days now and I haven't found any of the bugs you guys are reporting so far. I was previously on OpenSEMC-U r2, and did a full wipe (everything but sdcard) before flashing. Also, I used the kitkat gapps from the cyanogenmod website.
Sometimes, however, the screen will randomly turn on when locked, but it could be caused by one of the apps I have installed, I don't know. [EDIT: It turns out it's not a bug, it's a feature of the rom so that the screen automaticly turns on when you pull it out of the pocket... quite handy I'd say.]
As for games... everything I've tried so far works. Subway Surfers, Dots, MyBoy, Temple Run 2, Dead Trigger 1, Granny Smith, Sprinkle all work for me.

It isn't working, just like every 4.2+ rom for xperia s. There's no way around this and it will never be fixed.
Guys, anyone tried using the snapdragon battery guru app on Carbon Beta 5? I found it to slow down my phone a lot when it is in the learning stage, resulting in skips during audio playback and a lot of lag. so I uninstalled it before it could finish learning. Wondering if it's just my phone, or if the app is sh*t.
you can try greenify. should speed up your system and save some battery.

just installed Beta5 yesterday, coming from CM11 beta 3.1.
i think the rom is really great, though i cant find two specific options and i searched for like an hour or so.
specifically, im missing the option to use the volume buttons to change music tracks back and forth when the display is off and the other thing is the animation when you press the power button to shut down the display. it does this closing animation which i really hate.

Mostly likely you haven't unlocked your bootloader properly.
Hello everyone,
I have done quite a bit of research over the past few days but I am quite overwhelmed and confused, I thought I will post my questions here as I am now a proud owner of a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.
I ended up winning a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact from a work competition just the other day, before then I was using my iPhone 4 ever since it came out. I have never owned an Android device, I wish to root it mostly to theme the device. I have tried the Themer application in the Playstore which is fantastic in it's own right, but it doesn't let me create my own. I'm a huge Apple person and I ended up Jailbreaking all my iDevices so I wish to get some of that power out of my Android phone.
1. How harmful is it to root, unlock bootloader etc?.. I would imagine it is no different than Jailbreaking.
2. Am I able to store absolutely everything on the SD card when it comes to applications and tweaks?
3. Is it possible to remap the physical buttons to do other things?
4. I have came across Cyanogen quite a lot, is it stable and will I notice any speed issues compared to stock OS?
5. Is there a "Tweak store" of sorts to download all the extra stuff after rooting the device, similar to "Cydia" for iDevices?
I would really appreciate some assistance, I do apologize once again for being extremely new. It's just a little complicated when you hear there are so many versions of Android and rooting tools for individual devices!
Hi, I do not own the device but I've been in Sony and Android ecosystem for quiet long. So I can probably answer most of your questions.
1. Its not harmful at all! In fact since Sony devices don't get hard bricked you can't go wrong with it!
2. You can, once rooted! Ofc, you'll need mod of some kind.
3. Yup!
4. Speed issues? Probably not! But you might lose several functionalities, major one being the Camera quality. As Sony camera works as great as it is on stock only.
5. This forum is your tweak store.

Thanks for getting back to me very quickly. I did not know Sony devices cannot get hard bricked. So you're saying whatever I do to it software wise, I cannot not physically render the phone useless?
How bad is the camera quality once you root? is it very noticeable, are people trying to improve the quality?
I will definitely have browse this forum more, is there a particular place you would suggest or should I just stay in the Z1 Compact thread?

I've been using Sony (ericsson) devices since forever and I can tell you you'll love it. About the brick - feel safe. Whatever goes wrong with the phone just flash the original stock FTF firmware via Flashtool and your phone is like new. It's not necessary to switch to CyanogenMod as Sony's firmware is very smooth and fast on our devices thanks to the hardware and the lower resolution. You can just root and install one of the stock based roms in the development section. No need to unlock and you can get 4K video and 120fps slow motion video without losing picture quality
Edit: You don't lose quality when you root. Sony uses bionz image processor which requires the bootloader to be locked to work. If you unlock your BL you will have pictures with colder colors (from my observations) and more noise since Bionz is not processing the shots.

No loss of picture quality, that's contradicting with what KyleSforza said. If something did go wrong with the device, and I flashed back to the original stock FTF firmware, will it leave traces of the root on my phone in case I had to send the handset back for warranty repair or anything?.. Also how does one obtain the original stock firmware, would that be in the development section or on Sonys website somewhere? Thanks so much!

Look my edited post, I have explained why picture quality gets bad. As long as you use stock based firmware on locked bootloader (BL) you will not lose quality. About the warranty - I think rooting does not drop it but unlocking the BL does. You need to read some of the threads in this section before doing anything. When you flash the FTF everything goes back to stock and you will lose the root. As long as you BL is locked and you are on stock firmware your warranty is not voided.
Edit: You can find FTFs in the development section as well
I am using CyanogenMod and it is obviously better than Sony stock ROM.. Just two issues I have faced on CyanogenMod.. Sound volume is very low and camera quality is also bad.. Except these two, everything is more stable than stock ROM..

1. How harmful is it to root, unlock bootloader etc?.. I would imagine it is no different than Jailbreaking.
Rooting is a bit more work than jailbreaking, because no simple one-click-method esists anymore/yet/at the moment. A rooted device allows you to modify EVERYTHING there is on your device (software wise). This naturally brings some dangers, such as losing all your data, or bricking it. As the posters above already stated, it is quite hard to do lasting damage to your phone. Overclocking and removing overheat protection might, but other than software-induced hardware damage, it is nearly imposible. Keep in mid that playing with partitions might require you to open the device to repair the software.
Additionally, rooting via Bootloader unlocking* removes Sony's DRM-Keys. This mainly stops Xreality and the Bionz image processor from working. it is possible to back up those keys, and i would recomend doing that. It complicates rooting a lot, but makes it possible to go back to a 100% stock phone if you ever want to. they are located in their own partition (TA). flashing another TA partition than your own will also cause your phone to be permanently broken.
2. Am I able to store absolutely everything on the SD card when it comes to applications and tweaks?
You should be able to, yes. I am however not sure how you mean that. Some tweaks like init.d scripts need to be in the system folder, as have some of the apps. It is certainly possible to have them elsewhere, but it will require some effort. Why do you want to have everything on the external memory?
3. Is it possible to remap the physical buttons to do other things?
Yes.
4. I have came across Cyanogen quite a lot, is it stable and will I notice any speed issues compared to stock OS?
CM is stable, yes. they have "Snapshot" builds, which are lightly quality tested (boots, features work as they should in most usecases, etc) and nightlies. Nightlies are builds that are generated automatically every night by a bot (3 actually) and are also quite stable. But it can happen that there are mayor bugs (not booting, stuff crashing left, right and center...), specially at the beginning of merging a nes Android release. rolling back to the last working FW will normally fix that.
Speed is normally faster because it has less bloatware.
5. Is there a "Tweak store" of sorts to download all the extra stuff after rooting the device, similar to "Cydia" for iDevices?
No. You have t find it yourself and sideloas the *.apk. Be careful with what you install. Stuff on the forum should be fine, because other able coders quite quickly raise awareness if something's not right. For Xposed there is a dedicated repo which you can access from the module itself.
there are so many versions of Android and rooting tools for individual devices!
This is the reason why there are device specific forums. Stay here for everything device-related. There are special forums for non-device-specific stuff as apps and certain tweaks.
I hope this celaned up some questions, if you still have some: read, read, read! learn, and do not be hasty in the beginning. Or just ask me...

This can in no way be generalized like that. tastes are different, and everyone should decide by themselves.

I don't see where CM is "obviously" better, stock ROMs lack functions but a rooted stock with Xposed is pretty close to some third party ROMs. As Coirpre already said, that's a matter of personal preferences. And CM is far from being more stable than any stock ROM. E.g., last time I tried CM and all ROMs based on it completely prevented using encryption because the sensors didn't work. Tethering's also still broken iirc, among several other things judging by the corresponding thread.

Hi,
camera aside, cm is great. It has lots of customization options and as long as you don't use your phone as MAIN camera device this is the rom for you. However, if you use this 20mpix beast then don't bother with CM. The second someone manages to port stock camera or implement camera as good as stock, cm will win most of users. Again, final decision is up to the user.

yes, i think so.
is there a way to turn off capacitive button lights... I see no option in settings..
Thanks to the team!
Hi everybody, I'm certain new to the Xda forum and I wanna start with a big thanks for the effort of developers of this ROM.
First of all it's been awhile since i frequently read this forum I wont detail since which roms I've tried , of course must be some 2 years ago L
I've tested cyanideL lately but I came back to TB , seems for me much more well quality well finished code!
Nothing major noticed except I struggle to find a fix for netflix. I was really searching and I found this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56946778&postcount=1698
which really "bingo" in my device. For those who may try just to let them know netflix works very well in my device with the latest Team UB Cm12-261220014.
The only problem that it really bother me now is the "unfortunately, gallery has stoped" Camera seems to work very well. I ve tried clear, cash the app, I've moved all my DCIM picture on a ext card(pc), I even really clean reflesh the ROM. For first part it worked but then after i installed some other apps form titanium backup....I had the same problem. I really assume now that there is one app that my conflict gallery code....but to be honest i had so many to restore it's an enigma to guess which would be !
If someone would had a clue or encountered the same issue would guide me please!
Once more thanks from a sgh-i317m-telus successfully operated with this ROM
re gallery crash
....so no one has this pb ? ...i need apparently a couple of posts to write in diff spots of the forum...
How can I get color icons in taskbar the notification one on the left?
Also what is the star on the right side?
And last one for now how to make a screen shoot?

Chromcast doesn't connect
I just noticed another issue - i couldn't connect my device with chromecast, it looks not supported yet on this cm12 ver yet....lollipop 5.0.2 yet in development..looots of work....
Hello all, I am new at testing Customized ROMS and let me say that this is a great ROM, When the phone had Omni ROM installed began with this issue, when I am charging my phone while it is off, the battery icon animation gets stuck and I cannot turn my phone on, the phone does charge, I did not have this issue on Kit Kat stock for I317, Can somebody help me? Also, is there any way to make proximity sensor to work while making calls? also, is there any way to disable vibration while pressing capacitive buttons?
Thanks in advance.

I just flashed this UB ROM and had the sensor issue. Flashed the above t0lte_sensor_fix.zip and my sensors now work perfectly.
By the way, this ROM is by far THE best t0lte lollipop ROM I've flashed yet.
Great job to the developer.
So far so good 5 hours on and all set up. Switched from W03 Slimkat. Had one force close after the first flash while phone was resting. "...Email" but noticed nothing nor any issues with my Gmail. Thanks

UB-ROM for TOLTE sound issues
Overall very happy with the UB ROM 20150106, however the sound issue, specifically the one relating to bluetooth streaming has gotten worse.
The typical behaviour now is that when phone syncs with the car and music starts, audio fx and google music crashes.

I had this issue and flashed the shift kernel. However after a while, charging did not play nice with it. I am now using the kernel from DU lollipop ROM. It is very fast and has no issues with charging or bluetooth. Just use 7zip to copy the boot.img from the DU zip to the UB zip and flash as normal. You will get a warning asking you if you want to copy and overwrite, just click yes or OK.. This is a fantastic ROM
note 2 using Team UB rom 5.0.1
hello guys, just flashed this sweet lollipop rom, but i noticed that it has no support for s pen. Any recommendations on what app to use or mod? also, i couldn't get the music to stop being soo choppy over bluetooth while screen was off. any help is appreciated, and thanks DEVS for such great work!!!
That's strange, s pen is working on mine. No customizations or 3rd party apps either. Just stock ROM. As for Bluetooth did you try overstuffedcows suggestion of the DU lollipop kernal?
No music output if screen locked?
There is no music output if screen is locked, when a headphone without a microphone is plugged in. I can't hear the music when screen is locked (although music app is still playing the music silently (muted), but when I turn the screen on, the music plays. It seems like the music itself has been playing in the background, because sound is the thing that's muted not the app itself.
Strangely, music plays well when screen is locked when a headphone with a microphone is plugged in.
Is it sort of a bug? I think many will have this kind of problem..
Help!
Since update 1/19/15, the proximity sensor does not work
Since update 1/19/15, the proximity sensor does not work. Screen does not turn off during call, and I downloaded some apps to test the sensor and it seems that the sensor does not work at all..
My sensors are still working with 1/19. Try flashing the sensor fix I posted up above??
Since the official ROM thread is closed for the foreseeable future, I figured those of us who are running, not running away from, the AOSP Android 7 ROM by @Schischu need a place to discuss bugs, find solutions, etc.
Of course, given the situation, we can't officially recommend the ROM, no matter how much we might love it. So we assume that if you are posting here, you already have the ROM installed, and have read all of the original thread.
Schischu will probably not be helping out with this thread. I haven't even asked him about starting it. I have had no part in the ROM's development, so this is strictly UNOFFICIAL. Think of it as a twelve-step program for those who have been left hanging by this situation. Hopefully some of the guys from the original thread who are real devs will be nice enough to chime in. And, hopefully we will inspire Schischu to return to the development of the ROM and resolution of whatever underlying issues that led to the suspension of the old thread.
I think we should start with a known bug list, and I'll come back a little later and post a few that I am aware of.
My personal bug list:
T-700
·Graphics glitches when changing screen orientation or swapping between apps
·Certain streaming apps (USA Now, Syfy Now in my case) won't stream video
·Slow charging while the tablet is on
·Camera Apps freeze (Stock, better camera) when trying to record video, don't access full camera resolution
·I'll add more if I find/think of any
T-800
·YouTube videos stutter while playing
I may try to keep this as a comprehensive list, but I won't always be able to, so no promises.
What we're the issues that caused the thread to be closed? I'm running it on a T800 and it's been fine. Was it security issues or legal/admin issues?

Update : here's the answer to the question I posed below. Apparently the AOSP MM will not get further develop either. The issues all surround a GPL compliance complaint which the Dev denies. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68673187
I agree and that the thread's close message was rather vague. Is the Dev continuing to support his aosp MM ROM? I may just return to that one (nandroid backup) as the YouTube stutter is too annoying if it won't be fixed for a very long time. I liked the Nexus feel of this tablet over going the Samsung stock route.

Sounds like he's not doing any development on either of them for the time being. I'm sticking with the N ROM for now, even with the problems. YouTube has been fine for me, fwiw.
It's pure speculation, but I have to guess that someone is accusing him of using code from their version of the kernel. If there are usability or stability issues with the kernel, then that's what I'm hoping we can figure out with this thread, and if Schischu does not return to working on it, then maybe we can install an N-friendly kernel from another dev when one comes available.

The MM6 is very stable but multiwindows that any mods can't add on marshmallow is very useful on a tab. I use N7 on my t800 with the bugs (yt bug too ) but for me when I update to a new Android version and use it for a while, downgrade is very hard I will continue use N7 anyway and hope to see schischu coming back for a simple reason is that he's roms are very popular.. future will tell us
So you gotta love this, I have tried twice to send the dev a PM regarding the closing of the other thread, once with the app on my Tab S, and once just now on the web. Neither message shows up in my sent items. Is this normal?
On my T-800, I have the following minor issues which I have not really tried to troubleshoot (with the exception of #3):
1) graphical glitches on rotate and power off
2) not able to see all widgets provided by one app - specifically BeautifulWidgets - I can scroll through their widgets, but it stops half way through one icon and doesn't scroll to the rest
3) I was experiencing about 25% less battery life relative to 5.0.2 (I didn't try MM), but this seems to have settled down now and I'm getting close to what I saw on 5.0.2
4) GPS appears to get location, but GPS Status App seems limited to 4 satellites and does not indicate a fix has been obtained
5) I have a hard time getting into Recovery mode - the power option built in the ROM and Quick Boot app - both reboot to recovery goes to black screen and frozen tab - have to do Vol Down - Home - Power combo to get it to come back alive, but it comes to the Download mode screen. If I cancel out of Download mode, it sometimes goes to Recovery, but more often goes to black screen and frozen again. If I try Vol Up-Home-Power combo nothing happens.
EDIT: for #5 - i waited a bit longer on the black screen and hit power - recovery popped up. This may be related to a historical screen time out issue which has already been identified elsewhere
EDIT 2: for #5 - I seem to be stuck - I made it into recovery after a number of tries and turned off the screen timeout option. Now it won't boot into either recovery or system - just goes to black screen again. I can still get into Download mode so I'll have to wait until I can plug into a PC at home and try ADB fastboot - does anyone have any other suggestions?

I'am a person who donated to Schichu after his efforts with Nougat so quickly created while Samsung at that point still had not made Marshmallow readily available. I did that not as much for his Nougat ROM but because I'd been using his mature AOSP Marshmallow ROM for months already at that point. I find it difficult to see the words "half baked" and "get his act together" on a ROM clearly marked as ALPHA. That is simply not fair as this developer put out monthly security updates which again is better than Samsung manages. I do not regret my donation as I reverted to his AOSP MM from a nandroid backup just hours ago. Samsung stock Marshmallow does not support Substratum theming which I find manditory and is slower than the Nexus like AOSP build..

That seems odd that it would be shut down for being half-baked! The 1st page of the ROM thread clearly states it is "Alpha". For an alpha, it certainly ran well - others clearly had unreasonable expectations for an alpha status ROM.

Access to recovery is very inconsistent - I don't know much about this - maybe I have a corrupt bootloader or something.
I kept rebooting to Download mode with Power-VolDn-Home combo and then cancelling it - finally it went into Recovery and I could reboot from there to System.
I'm kicking myself- I should have turned screen timeout back on in TWRP as it seemed I could get into recovery more frequently (but still inconsistently) after cancelling out of download mode.

I've never been good at getting those button combinations to work. I always use the power reboot menu, the reboot menu in either TWRP Manager or Titanium, or use adb commands. I guess I'm just not coordinated enough. =) Hopefully you'll get it figured out.

That seems odd that it would be shut down for being half-baked! The 1st page of the ROM thread clearly states it is "Alpha". For an alpha, it certainly ran well - others clearly had unreasonable expectations for an alpha status ROM.

". . . . . schishu being who he is, never give any support and just let everyone deal with their problems.. Therefore the moderator said enough . . . . "

Access to recovery is very inconsistent - I don't know much about this - maybe I have a corrupt bootloader or something.
I kept rebooting to Download mode with Power-VolDn-Home combo and then cancelling it - finally it went into Recovery and I could reboot from there to System.
I'm kicking myself- I should have turned screen timeout back on in TWRP as it seemed I could get into recovery more frequently (but still inconsistently) after cancelling out of download mode.

hold the buttons pressed - home-voldn-power - when u get a black screen just go to volup, u have a sec or fewer. works fine have to do it serveral times after sitting fest in dl mode. (or take out the battery LOL)
Sam Ash has posted in another thread indicating that he will reply to my questions at some point.
In other news, I hate drama.

Thanks - I'll have to try a quicker finger. Hopefully it's that simple, but because of the issues I'm having I am not going to try to boot to recovery any time soon unless I absolutely need to!
