I wouldn't discount BT keyboards. I have the Zagg Flex and it's still running on the original charge after 7 weeks. It's rated to run 2.5 to 3 months per charge. There are many affordable BT keyboards that have decent battery life. Here's a picture of mine.

I'm using the official keyboard dock and it looks and feels great. It's extremely sturdy and keeps the tablet at a nice angle when sitting on top of a desk. it also has a charging port on the side so you can charge it while using it

Its rare and might be too expensive for your tastes since they stopped all production of them.
Only bet is to get it from here, but you'll have to wait.

BT keyboards aren't bad either, but I got the Wedge Keyboard. On Amazon, it ranges at $40 and if you go to BB, you can price match it. It works very well and makes writing on the go easier and safer rather than lagging around an expensive notebook. Don't even have to get a stand as the cover becomes the stand itself. Like you, I wanted the keyboard dock , but it was out of my price range and was too exorbitant. Don't buy the Wedge from Staples as their prices are lame.
I still don't regret it one bit though.
Used it while carpooling in the passenger's seat [community college for now for prereqs.} and despite the road and turns, it held stable onto the top of the dashboard. The only time the tablet began to slide off [since I use the Bobjgear case made of similar material.} was when the car hit a bump on another day. Very stable. Keyboard has excellent build quality.
If you want to charge it, have it upside down.

I opted for the Logitech BT Keyboard for Tablets...very happy with it so far.

That's the going price for after market off brand Keyboards.
But Factory OEM keyboards are about sold out every place.
The keyboard that is in the link has been reviewed on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jJMtSZ1U48 , people are saying it is OK for casual use but not for everyday use,

Sorry if this is OT from the OP, but what case are you using in the photo? Does the separate case and keyboard combo work well for you?
I also love the Flex and have been looking for a good case to pair with it for travelling.
Edit: NVM I found this info in your other forum posts.

u have to be careful as it is not very sturdy if u are not using it above a table.. anyway if u r using it on a table it will be quite sturdy
what i like : many shortcut key like copy /paste . brightness, search , music control (compatible with poweramp )! etc, key is nice to type
what i dislike : doesn't make me feel it's very sturdy, cant use it with a case

Looks pretty good and has room to charge another battery while your phone is docked and charging.

Hm.. nice find. That is tempting. I wish it was a bit cheaper.
I'll probably pick one up anyways to use at work. Looks like it won't fit a tbolt with a case.

Yeah looks like the TB will have to be naked to fit in this dock. Please post your review as soon as you get it.
If you wait a bit, I'm certain you'll be able to find it cheaper on ebay. You should start seeing other chineese companies selling them for much less, but shipped from China (slower to get here though).
I have the Incredible dock that is similar, and hacked it up to hold the phone with a case on it (doesn't look pretty, but it DOES work).
yep i bought one from amazon...listed that its for the merge but it fits....its tight but it fits...also it has to be naked..which sucks, but the for the price its a good deal

no it doesnt .....and scratch this off your list....it stopped working this morning....the usb charger part for the phone died....returning to amazon now!
was it the adapter that died or the connected cord or plug set in the dock? would love to buy this, especially for the price.

I had that problem on my charger for the DInc, and it ended up the actual USB plug housing had split apart, and the plug was sliding back into the housing. I ended up fixing it (mine came from china, so no recourse there), and it still works fine. Just curious if that was the problem with your unit or not.
Also looks like you can get it cheaper on ebay now. As with anything from China, you take a gamble on quality... I might pick one up and see if it works with my pop case, although the USB header might be a tad too short to reach and some plastic will definitely have to be shaved off to get it to fit the back.
Anyone find a charger without the big extra battery back?

Yes, it has to be naked in order to fit into the dock.
I have 23 of these in stock... tested one and it works great.
Any questions let me know.
I ordered one too - figured not too big of a risk for that $$ and my TB will be staying naked anyway. $25 shipped on Ebay vs $60(!) for the official one.
Edit:
Funny, as soon as I posted this, the dock arrived - FAST shipping! The dock is not bad, works fine. The only complaint I have is that the phone is held almost completely vertical, no angle at all really. So that makes it a little awkward for watching video but not too bad. Charges fine, USB works fine, insertion and removal is easy. As stated before, you cannot use a case with this dock, it is a snug fit. Slot on the back for charging a second battery.
Time will tell with the durability, but it serves my needs well - easy place to plug in and charge at my office desk. Recommended especially considering the price. If the HTC dock has HDMI (I doubt it) then maybe it will be worth $60. In the meantime this is shipping and shipping fast!
I'd buy one of these if the extended battery would fit on the dock :/

The phone is almost vertical when docked.

In fact if anyone wants it, I'd sell it for 20 bucks shipped (US only).
FWIW Newegg has them for $28, but they are out of stock right now....

I saw the C-Pen and thought it was pretty cool but I don't want to pay $30 for something I won't use very often. Does anyone (who has a stylus) have any recommendations for this particular device? I notice the touch area needs to be much smaller than it did on my previous devices. Pretty awesome!

That one seems to want to be a pen first and a stylus second. Not only is the stylus tip HUGE, it's stuck on the same end as the clip, which means it won't be very nice to hold.

Yea, I have the MediaDevil MagicWand and it works great for my Tablet, and decently enough for the GS3, but I'm looking for something with a smaller tip. That Samsung one looks perfect!

I've always been wary of the Jot Pen just because it looks like it might be more prone to causing scratching than the other nub capacitive pens. How's your experience with it in that regard?
I just ordered a universal stylus for 6$ and it comes with a free skin from amazon.
Don't spend too much on one, u can make your own with some electricaly conductive styrafoam (used to ship computer chips). Just hollow out a pen and stuff it in there.

So I ordered the Galasy S III C-Pen and unfortunately it isn't working out that well. I have a Zagg InvisibleSHIELD installed and I guess the semi tackiness of the protector doesn't let the pen move around as smoothly as it should. It works great for normal pointing & whatnot, but if you're drawing or something, it isn't too precise. If you don't have a screen protector then you probably don't have to worry about it.
Also another big negative (my fault for not doing some research first I guess) is that it doesn't work with any other of my devices. Tried it on my Acer Iconia a500 tablet & Galaxy Nexus and it doesn't work at all. I figured "Replacement for using fingers on your tablet or smartphone touchscreen" meant I could use it on other devices as well. Think I'm just going to get my money back on it. :/
With the glass on this phone I don't think it should be a problem at all.

Just got my Hand stylus in the mail but dont need it anymore.
I have the Samsung c-pen and it works great since I don't have a screen protector. It also costs 20.00 on Amazon.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I have been using the C-pen. I got it off Amazon for $22. I don't use a screen protector, my phone is "naked", and to be honest, I really like it, but it's hit and miss. And what I don't think people realize is that it depends on the software using the stylus. This was something I didn't expect. I thought it would perform roughly the same on all apps. Using Adobe Reader to make freehand notes, I would find dead spots, where the pen just wouldn't work. But then if I touched the screen, then went back to that spot, it would work again.
The two best apps I have found, and the two use the most, (both work quite well with the C-pen) are SketchBook Mobile, and Genial 2. SBM is for drawing, and Genial is for note taking. The C-pen had bad reviews, but I have been happy with it. This is where I bought mine. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ETC-S10CSEGSTA-Galaxy-III-Pen/dp/B0089VO7HY. I have had buyers remorse at times, but not enough to send it back.
It looks really nice, and I love the way it feels. I think the only other 2 options I would consider are HandStylus, and Jot. Anything else is really just another variation of the same thing. But, even with any stylus, your really magical experience will come in the app you are using it on. The nice part about the other two is if you ever change phones, or have a tablet, you can use your stylus on it. The C-pen only works with your GS3.
Creating this thread as a general discussion area for keyboards on the galaxy note 10.1.
I'll start:
I am looking for a keyboard case that not only is able to lay flat while my tablet is propped up, but also is able to lay flat while my tablet is laying flat as well. This setup would give me the ability to type up documents or post on forums for example, when that is the sole task at hand, with the tablet propped up much like a laptop. On the flip side, it would allow me to take great notes in the classroom setting while both apparatus are flat (I am not keen on making quick sketchs while my tablet is positioned in front of me like an easel).
Is anyone aware of a case/keyboard combo or separate keyboard and case that is capable of this versatility which will work well for the note 10.1?
This one looks to be exactly what I need. However, I've yet to find any indication that this will also fit the Note.
http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Keyboard-Folding-Leather-Samsung%C2%AE/dp/B005O74J7O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1346533541&sr=8-2&keywords=note+10.1+keyboard
Anything that fits the Tab 10.1 will be WAY too small for the Note unless it's a highly flexible "universal fit" case (e.g. stretches to fit).
I have a ZAGGFolio for the original 10.1 - it's way too small for the Note.

I've been using the Kensington K39383US Universal KeyFolio Pro Case with Removable Keyboard but the only issue with it is that it comes with 2 sets of corners, one big (for big tabs) and one small for smaller tab (like the Note 10.1) But the smaller corner holder does not hat a opneing for the S-Pen, so I had to resort to doing surgery on it and it fits fine, works well and I'm able to take out the S-Pen.
I like it since the keyboard can be detached and in doing so, the Tablet can be position in numerous viewing positions.
There is another one model K39519US that looks like it already has an opening in the corner holder, but I still think it needs to be surgically worked on. lol

I don't have a keyboard / case combo, but I came from the iPad and I have the apple wireless keyboard and It works better than expected. The play, pause, volume buttons all work. There is even a button for apple's mission control on its Mac's and it actually works to bring up the task manager on to note which I thought was pretty cool. No need for me to spend another $50-$70 on a keyboard. I know it's not what the OP reauested but the thread title drew my attention here so I came to read and I wanted to give my feedback on my experience with the apple Bluetooth keyboard.
I edited the post to include a link to the keyboard. You can find it on amazon and best buy as well. I bought mines at best buy.

How's the included keyboard with these cases? I'm pretty critical when it comes to keyboards and would go for a better keyboard while giving up the convenience. Currently happy with Logitech Android bluetooth keyboard with only the minor quirks of browser key not launching browser (can be fixed by renaming chrome apk to browser.apk and having to disable auto capatilization otherwise first auto-capitalized letter will appear twice so you end up with "AA". May just get a small sling with two compartments and a $9 compact Amazon (Arkon) travel stand.

You guys convinced me to get the Kensington keyboard! It looks great and having a keyboard all the time is a huge plus for me.
One question: does the stylus fit in the stylus holder of the Kensington case?
These are nice and all but isn't it a pain to take the tablet out when you want to use it as a tablet? I mean I already have a laptop and I can thumb type on this thing hella fast.

Logged about 400 miles running with the armpocket in all temps/weather since Feb....even pouring rain. Never had any trouble with moisture in the phone's compartment.

Looking to use my N5 with an armband at the gym. Been looking and have found only one specifically for the N5: http://www.amazon.com/Ionic-ACTIVE-...id=1383435438&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+5+armband
Any experience with this brand? Has anyone found other potential armbands? Thanks!

I have and love my Armpocket for my N4 and am ordering the bigger model for my soon to be here N5.
Logged about 400 miles running with the armpocket in all temps/weather since Feb....even pouring rain. Never had any trouble with moisture in the phone's compartment.

Which model of Arm Pocket are you specifically ordering for the N5?
I ordered the i35. I did a quick review of the i30 w/N4 when I first got it and you can see it is a tight fit. With N5 being a little bigger, I'm assuming it won't fit.

Will do a similar review later in the week w/N5 and I35 when everything is here.

Here is a quick video to show the Nexus 5 and the Armpocket I-30. The zipper would shut, but I wouldn't say it fits. If you are looking at the Armpocket, go with the bigger model, I-35. Mine should be here later in the week and I'll put up a quick video showing the fit.

Good video. I'll wait to see your I-35 video just to be sure
Both of these look good. But does the armpocket have seperate pouches? I couldn't tell. Would be nice to have a pocket for keys.
Inside the main pouch there are pockets...the I-30 has two pockets stacked on each other. I carry my car key on every run.
The I-35 says that it has 3 pockets inside....got tracking info this AM and should be here Thursday.

OK sweet. I drive a cruze so the key is a bit bulky.
Now just need to subscribe to my local gym. Haha.

Headphones?
I liked the detailed video ... only other thing i use plenty of during my runs are the headphones, can you please include the headphone insertion part in your next video.
Awesome video by the way, very detailed.

I went ahead and ordered the Armpocket i-35. I like to go running but nothing crazy, usually about 3 miles a day or every other day. Figured this would be cheaper than buying a stand alone gps watch or something similar. And I have the Endomondo pro app for my phone too.
Looks like the headphone would have to go through the bottom, as in putting the phone upside down? I've never used an armband before, but seems like that would work better anyways since you are looking down towards the phone while it's on your arm.
I live in Washington state, so the weather proofing will come in handy here!
No problem...I'll get another one up in the next day or so. I use bluetooth headphones when I run so I didn't even think of showing you some headphones. I also have a case now so I can show a fit with a case too. Give me a day or so and I'll get something together for you all.

They only have small and medium strap sizes listed for the I35. What did you get and how does it fit? I'm not "swoll" by any means, but I'm not your classic stick figure runner (6'2" 200lb). I'm just a little worried the strap might not be long enough.
I am using a Belkin branded armband originally intended for the Samsung Galaxy IV. Because the Galaxy IV and Nexus 5 have very similar dimensions, I decided to try this armband and it fits perfectly. The only downside was, I had to take out my nail scissors and widen the hole for the headphone jack, in order for it to be accessible.

That's odd...I got the large strap. I'm about the same size and wouldn't want the strap to be any smaller...
Here is a quick video...no narration... that shows headphone fit and how the phone fits with a case on....enjoy!

Is there any new recommendations for armband?

So i bought these 2 bad boys during the discount Motorola had on their store and thought it would be nice to share with you guys my thought of them.
Have used them for almost 4 days now and here are my comments:
The Dock
It's the first dock i ever get for a device so it's been a nice experience overall and i do enjoy having my phone there standing up waiting for me to ask something away. The design is pretty cool and to be honest the color set on my Moto X Dev Edition rides just nicely with the color scheme of it so no complains there.

It is a bit pricey for what you get, which basically is the dock, a wall plug and an usb cable (usb to microusb), have to add that the cable and wall plug was kinda crappy, it made this little noise which for what i know of electronics is a capacitor not working properly so i just replaced that with the OEM cable and plug.
The usb mount part gives you movemente freedom up untill 75 degrees aprox, so that's nice.
Now as for the features or the use of it, i move it from my PC to my night stand table and finally i see a use for the daydream function which kinda sucked for me since they released it. Of course i am pretty much lost on which application can benefit of this feature but as for now having the clock itself helps me out alot when i wake up at night to take a piss - you know.
To wrap it up, i like the dock but i still consider it pricey for a regular user so unless you have the money for it - find an alternate solution.
The Battery
You guys know how the Moto X gets a kick ass battery life, well i use my phone like alot, seriously i kill the battery in 6 hours cause i steam music on LTE, keep FB nonstop plus i have my wireless headset running 24/7. With Kit Kat i do have a bigger drain but meh i really don't care much about it since i can always charge it or use the battery.
It takes around 4 hours to charge completely and it has the ability to charge 2 devices at the same time or at least i believe it does since it has 2 output connections.
It also has an additional Micro USB port which is attached to the powerpack itself so if you don't carry cables with you, it is just the perfect companion. And for the 3000 mah capacity i seriously think this one is a no brainer. Again it is an expensive tool but i honestly believe it could save you when you are out of the city, on a trip or simply out of juice.
So far i have charged it twice and used it to charge my phone once, it still had around 50% capacity which is indicated with little LED dots in the front of it, just above the Motorola Logo. One minor detail, the plastic does tend to catch a lot of scratches, you can see them on the final pic.
In conclusion i would suggest you to grab the powerpack if you travel alot or if you just simply use the phone as much as i do.
Again, there are much more cheaper solutions but to be honest i don't trust chinese batteries, had a bad experience with one of them. Kinda blowed up on me so, noty.
Please feel free to ask anything about the dock or battery i will try to answer and provide feedback as needed.
sorry for the language, english ain't my first.
thanks
Ive been trying to pick up a dock, they have been out of stock all week. Sucks
Nice review
Envy. In my country Motorola doesn't sell accessories and it's impossible to find them.

I'm liking the dock, but i don't find a need for a power battery
Off-Topic: Hey what case is that?
It's a cheap bumper case I got off Amazon, let me know if you want the link.
Agree with you on the battery but i had a $50 coupon i had to use on their store so that plus the discount made me buy those.

The Moto X one? Why/How much?
Are you saying the only reason you got the battery pack was because of the coupon you had? Just curious because I was thinking about getting one of those Anker ones. They seem to do more for the price.
But don't blame you if you basically got that battery pack for free.
On the dock, how much friction is required for insertion / removal of the phone on the USB connector?
