Wrong. He can buy an unlock Code. It Is easy And not expensive at all. Even he can ask To his carrier for it.

Well, that's true. But as he is asking here, we can assume he does not want that option (eventhough it´s the best option)

Wasn't there a Windows program, called Ace Multi Tools? (something along those lines) that did SIM Unlocks and Super CIDs, along with S-OFF (but with a downgrade)

Do you mean the Advanced Ace Hack Kit? If so, it has been retired.

There is no free solution yet, you need to pay for an unlock code

Sorry but this isn't correct. You can't unlock it by flashing a Ruu. I you need to buy unlock code or use a xtc clip at present.

I had my Wildfire unlocked using revolutionary method... Previously I was locked to Orange UK.. I just flashed the RUU (Asia India) from shipped roms first; then I used the revolutionary tool - AlphaRevX.... Only issue I had was no mobile network.. I flashed the latest radio img for wildfire using fastboot... I never bought or used an unlock code from anyone...

Are you sure it was locked in the first place?
The cid is hidden away in a partition we can't get to, I don't think revolutionary changes the cid because if it did the alpharev team would know about it and it would have been mentioned before, an ruu flashes original software which is also most probably locked as the carriers would complain to google for making such a simple way to unlock there phones.

Yup I'm damn sure Myhtc was locked... I tried using other operator's sim cards..

s-off after unlocking using htcdev

hi I hav unlocked my bootloader using htcdev method but now how can I achieve s - off?
what if I use xtc clip now? can I get an s - off??
Sent from my Wildfire S using XDA
If you're gsm [have a sim] yep; however, its much less reversable at this point in time and you probably can accomplish just about anything you need with the bootloader unlocked... So weigh your options

well the reason is that for using that desire c rom (after port) heard we may need s off ... that's y anyway I'm gonna wait n decide. so there isn't any provision for changing hboot getting back warranty yet for s off users??

Since you are planning to root, why not go all the way and install a custom rom that is already rooted. You can try this one, it seems to offer great batterylife http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705334&page=52

The tool you have linked to does not work on the One X. Currently, the only way of achieving root on this device is to use the HTCDev.com bootloader unlock tool, then flash a custom recovery, which will allow you to flash a rooted (custom) ROM. Please look in the development sections, there are plenty of tutorials such as this one.
Never use tools that are not specifically meant for the One X. Frankly I'd stay away from automated scripts and tools for doing critical stuff like rooting, etc.. Rooting One X is pretty straightforward. Here is a video guide:
Step 1 : Unlock the bootloader
Step 2: Install CWM and Root
Putting my unlock code on htcdev doesnt work. Maybe because I'm on 4.04?

It should still work with 4.0.4, do you guys want to post actual error messages or something useful for diagnosis?
I wil when I can. Basicly when I enter the code on htcdev it says that my code isn't right.
And trust me it is the right code.

Are you sure you copy-pasted the code without the prefixes?

follow that to the letter, it has screenshots of how you should copy the code etc
hopefully it'll help..

[Q] how to S-off a rooted HTC Wildfire S

good morning everyone
I'm just posting this thread to ask you how to S-off a rooted Wildfire S because I already tried everything to make this happend but nothing happend
I'm on robotomod xena rom and an unlocked hboot, I tried the htcdev thing but it only unlocked the hboot, I tried the gold sd card but it didn't worked, I tried the supertool but all what I got is a blue DOS screen (and my device isn't supported by the revolutionnary tool)
I hope I'll find a solution for this problem cuz all what I did (unlocking and rooting my device) was to S-off my htc, and THANK YOU

There is no other way. If you would've gone to the general section and seen the S-OFF thread, you would have gained more knowledge.

The only solution is the XTC clip. In the general section, there's this S-OFF campaign going on to try and find out a software method for S-OFF. Check out that thread.

What's the difference ? S-on or S-off.....they all can be unlocked.
And s-off or s-on makes no difference to flashing, you need in both ways an unlocked bootloader to flash.
