Screen flicker and black CWM recovery.. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone..
I've just received my upgrade and could'd wait to try out some roms. Rooting is pretty straightforward, but after many attempts I just cant get cwm to work properly..When booting with "volume up, home and power button the screen starts flickering and gets corrupted. After that I just get a black screen!
Thanks, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I remember once I had a problem with TWRP wile flashing Emotion MIUI where even after multiple compete downloads, it said Error opening zip or something.
I then used Philz touch and magically it worked
Get it from here and flash via recovery

MIUI recommend Cwm, twrp does not flash MIUI very well
Edit: the above post recommends Philz touch, as that is based on Cwm then it should install miui just fine.

Trying my hardest, but I cant for the life of me get cwm to work on my note 2!
The screen flashes an the just black, untill I hard reset the phone..

Did you flash Philz?

[Q] How to flash .img?

Ive been working on getting cm10 on my t999 gs3 but cannot figure out how to get cwm touch on the phone. I already have cwm 5.5 but it gives me an error when applying update from sd (trying to install cm10 nightly latest build).
The newest cwm is a .img file in which I have not a clue how to install. I was getting used to flashing tar files with odin.

Can you point me to a thread? Or do you know the commands to run?
Download rom manager from store and install recovery from there. Much easier and less likely to cause problems with a typo.

Was stuck in a boot loop, reinstalled cm10 and gapps. Working well now. But the SD card doesnt mount? All I can see is onboard memory. Is this a common issue with cm10?

pretty sure i broke my phone by mistake, please help

So two days ago I rooted + installed cm10, I was having some issues so I did a dark side wipe and re-installed cm10 after that I didn't not think I had wiped my phone properly so I went back and did the factory rest wipe... Well oops... Now my phone won't do a darkside wipe or install cm10. It just sits on the installing text. I was able to use my back up which also seems very bugged, when I try to restart it just sits on the goodbye screen (just one of the big things I've noticed). What do I need to do to fix this, please explain in laymen terms so I can fix this, thank you and sorry for my ignorance....
What recovery u working with
I would get into download mode, Odin back to stock and ready root and re flash

How do you do this? I assumed the only option was to use the back up I created.
Just go to recovery wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, then under mounts format storage

Get it into download mode, and flash a newer recovery with Odin. Then flash any rom with the newer recovery. And don't use ROM manager until you know a bit more of what you're doing.

Its hard to say, I rooted my phone successfully, then using Odin i tried to flash a rom using a guide i found now Im stuck with this.
I was hopeing to put lighting rom on or something "fast"
So after you rooted it did you boot it up and it worked? What kind of file was the rom that you were trying to flash using odin? You should install a custom recovery, I prefer twrp and it's very easy to install. And what is this lighting rom? Never heard of it
And what guide did you follow to flash a rom in odin?

You may need to try and use odin to put the stock firmware back on and root it again. I don't think you can flash zip files using odin. You use a custom recovery. Search YouTube on how to root your phone and install a recovery. If I understand you right, you rooted it and immediately tried to install a zip file using odin which you can't do.

This thread has the factory firmware with root already in it. That should work. Follow the instructions and make sure it boots up before flashing any roms. Then search on how to install a custom recovery, how to make a backup, and how to flash a new rom. There are plenty of directions or there and resources to help. And YouTube really helps.

i might have jumped the gun odin say it passed no failures. but how long dose it take for the phone to boot seems to be staling on the start of when it says Samsung
Go to the market and install root cheaker....and if you are rooted then go to the market and get goomanager, hit menue install open script recovery, , then that should install a custom recovery to your device...you can access it by turning phone off then holding volume up home then power till samsung screen shows.. then on e twrp boots hit backup, and back up to sd...onnce thats done then,,,,, u need to read some more:beer:

Wiped System - Can't install new rom

Hey guys,
I'm a noob at this and tried doing my research but I'm not at a dead end.
I wiped my system with TWRP.
I was on Jedi Mind Trick X4.
I wiped internal storage, system, dalvik cache, and cache.
Now I can't install a new rom. It fails.
The rom I am flashing is the official t-mo t989 jelly bean OS.
It says no MD5 file found...
something about partition...
and fails.
What do? :silly:

Looking at the DL page there is a tar file inside the zip file that you use to flash thru Odin. Is that how you flashed it?

I tried flashing it with TWRP recovery.
I just now realized that you can only flash it with ODIN. My mistake.
Now the phone is stuck in the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." screen.
I removed the battery, replaced battery, held volume up + volume down, and plugged USB in and it got to the custom OS screen.
I pressed volume up and it just goes back to the 'firmware encountered an issue screen.'
What should I do now?
DISREGARD, GUYS
I just figured out that even if you're on on the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." screen, you can still use ODIN to flash a rom.
Glad you figured it out

4.4 ROM Flashing difficulties

Hello, I have been trying to flash a 4.4 ROM on my Optimus G for the longest. I am currently running a 4.3 but can't a stable one as well. Every time I try to flash a 4.4 TWRP almost instantly says fail every time even though it is the most updated version, does anyone know why this is?

Well, if you have the right TWRP, and are wiping /system, /data, /cache, /dalvic, I'd say bad dl , or your SD might be messed up.
That's the only reasons I can think of.

See if you can flash a stock ROM. Also, reinstall recovery. DL the one from Shelnutt2 on the codefire server. There's also a link for it in the root guide.
After reinstalling recovery, and if it'll install a stock ROM, try a 4.4 rom again. If it still fails, I'd say try wiping your SD.
Other than that, I'm at a loss.
