Question for those with their EVO on boost mobile...

Alright i've flashed a few phones before...but never to boost.
It looks really confusing...so I have two questions.
1. The whole MEID thing looks very confusing, do I really need another boost phone to do this?
2. Does it work perfectly on the $50 plan or must you do the $55 plan?

1) Yes you do need a 3G donor phone. I suggest the incognito.
2) My evo is boosted on the $50 unlimited plan with no issues (anymore...lol)

The steps you took to put your evo on boost, could the same thing be done for virgin mobile?
Yes but you will need a virgin mobile 3g phone instead of the incognito suggested above

Sorry but I have never had that particular phone so I do not know. You may want to search and see if there is a thread about it in this section:

Working On A Guide For Flashing Incredible 2 Over To Straight Talk

Hey Guys,
I'm currently working on a guide for flashing a Incredible 2 to Straight Talk Service. I've hit a huge snag though. If anyone with experience with CDMA Workshop can PM it'd be greatly appreciated. When I get the phone completely flashed over I'll happily help anyone else flash their phone over I don't see paying 50 - 100 dollars for someone to flash it when I can figure it out and use the flashing cost to pay for service

Sorry I did not realize i had a reply to this posting. Well I know how to flash the straight talk prl to the phone and etc... I just can not get Incredible 2 to be recognized by CDMA workshop which is a major part of getting this phone running on Straight Talk, since straight talk doesn't allow phones other than their phone on the network.

Yeah, Ik the feeling bud I've been trying to get my phone running on Straight Talk for ages, as soon as I figure it out I'll help ya out!
Wish I could help because I'd like to do this as well. Hope you get the help you need.
I hope so too... cause the only other option for me in the area if i want to use my Incredible 2 is cricket and the service, stinks around here.
I hear you. The least expensive, seemingly reliable, option I have found is $50.
Yeah, and at least with straight talk its on verizon so we know it'll be reliable, it unlimited everything and we get verizon data speeds all at 45/month which is a lot better than the 103/month i was paying on verizon for 450 minute, unlimited txt, and unlimited data.
From what I gather reading about it, ST unlimited data on the $45 plan is actually capped at ~2GB.
An alternative on the Verizon network is PagePlus who announced they are upping the data on the $55 plan to 1GB beginning this month (was scheduled for the 18th but may have been pushed back to the 25th).
Edited to change the PP plan from $40 to $55/mo. Apologies.
Yeah even with it being capped off its still the best choice for the price, and even throttled speeds aren't to bad on ST.
I can probably help you guys out if you are still interested. I do not have the incredible 2, but I have done this with another android phone.

Sometimes it takes 72 hours to get 3G, IME. Are you using a 3G capable donor phone? If so and you wait that long and still don't have it, call ST support and tell them you aren't getting 3G speeds, without mentioning the swap of course...
I'd hate to revive a month old thread but I did come across this guide for flashing it for Cricket. If someone could adapt it for StraightTalk that would be awesome!

I'm getting about sick of the Verizon service in my area. I'm about to can my contract for good, but I like my DInc2 a lot. I'm running cm9 4.0.4 and its truly incredible now. Does anyone know if the straight talk sim cards will work with the GSM radio in thus phone on any rom?
I'm tempted to get one to try buy I just wonder if someone already has...
it will work just fine for text and talk but the internet will be slow because the phone get only 2G Edge so that's the only problem if u don't care about the speed it will be fine for u
I have the Droid Incredible 2 Global on the Straight talk Network through the Sim Card.
The only problem is I can only get Edge network. Any ideas on how to get the 3G?

i would like to know as well, having a nice phone on verizon prepaid for unlimited talk and data for $50 would be the cool. i would switch from my 0g 4g metropcs $25 mo. unlimited 1x in a flash. get it,flash
i wondered about this a while back when i first seen verizon had unlimited prepaid, i called everyone to get the details and low and behold verizon prepaid xustomers service said you can only use the ones they allow you too use and they are non android phones. lol figures they want the prepaid people from otjer carriers to switch and at the aame time not lose any of their own android paying cuatomers. paying like $125 or more/mo.
Hey if anybody knows please tell me how to get the HA and AAA passwords from the Pantech Caper without the newest CDMA Workshop PM Me
Sorry guys i just edited it i meant without the newest cdma workshop PAID. I only have the cdma workshop 2.7.0 cracked
Best place to ask those questions is in Howard's forums thats the place to be at.

What he said there is a guide in the page plus fourmunder handset technical page 14 will get you 3g if follow that guide
Thanx you guys that will help with the data but all i need to know is can i u QXDM to get the HA and AAA shared Passwords from the Pantech Caper
Ran into an issue with the Caper. I would appreciate 64-bit drivers for windows 7 on the caper i already tried the Verizon access manger way. Or do i need to downgrade to 32-bit?
I wouldn't think the caper is a 3g phone, I flashed mine using a LG revere and got the keys by using a fascinate.

Lol even that way I'm stuck at 1x so I gave up and used the fascinate with the 50$ plan its so much easier but if u pm me on how u are getting it working I would greatly appreciate it

Do any NVItems need to copied from the Caper for it to work. Does anybody have the full guide?

[Q] Help to root a Straight Talk GSIII?

Hi all,
I have been guided to this section regarding my Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy SIII because it's model number indicates it operates through Sprint. It is a SCH-S960L. I have had it for about a week. Came with 4.1.2. Does anyone have any information on how I can root this phone? I have searched everywhere and can't find any solid info about it.
I thank you ahead for any guidance you can give!
Lisa
Rooting for all S3 is pretty much the same. The thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38172219 has almost all the answers to questions you will have. #2 thing mentioned is rooting it will take you to the guide with video just watch the video several times read everything it's rather simple in less than 5 minutes you will have it rooted and custom recovery installed.

Thanks for the response, Ed. I haven't heard much other info about rooting this, so I appreciate the info. Really don't want to brick it, but I also am anxious to get rooted and set it up the way I want it....

i beleive that youre phone is probably more related to the t-mobile variant since straight talk runs off of tmobile... check the model number under the battery

Actually I think ST runs off Sprint. This was what I was told. I have this model as well. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. There isnt much info around about the SCH-S960L
Sent from my SCH-S960L using xda app-developers app
you might be right but i remember a commercial saying that you get t mobiles national coverage... but you may be right
ST runs on the Sprint network.
actually, i looked it up and it appears it uses all major carriers... its a part of tracfone which makes it a subsidiary of a subsidiary... but tracfone has contracts with all major carriers
I was able to confirm this phone does run through Sprint, and got it rooted using Skunkape1's excellent rooting directions in the Sprint SG3 forum...

Yes the S3 through straight talk runs on sprint.... if you rooted, did you use a rom?
I bought my wife and daughter these phones through straight talk. The box had the red verizon map on it, and the network type is LTE/ cdma. I'm on regular verizon and can get LTE, but they can't.They stay on 3g most of the time. Sucks. But I am curious if you were able to find a rom to run after you rooted it? I'm not really satisfied with straight talk service. Family seems to have a lot more dropped calls than me. Anything that can make these phones more bearable would be nice.

Straight Talk doesn't "run" on T-mobile. Straight Talk is a Tracfone service, which depending on the specific device, runs on a variety of towers through a variety of companies. Verizon and At&t are the most commonly used towers.
Well, I finally gave up and put my family back on Verizon. Weird thing was when vz sales rep was swapping numbers, he put the straight talk phone info into the computer and it said the phone was using sprint and some verizon variant network for data.
Was wondering if anyone has ever found a rom to run on this phone. Friend wants the phone, but rooted.

I'm running everything (flashaholic) on my S960L. After I bricked I got it back to life and have been happily flashing since.
And yes, it does run off Sprint networks
Sent from my N800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah, I'll probably just sell it to him and be done with it. It's a shame straight talk didn't work out for me. Might have better coverage in a city. But where I live, it's crap.
Now on Verizon
The FIRST GS3 offered by Straight Talk WAS on the Sprint network. But after S/T got absolutely blasted by upset customers (and POTENTIAL customers) they finally pulled their heads out of their butts and now they offer a CDMA-V variant...that's VERIZON for those who don't know the codes. There is a code on the lower left corner of the packaging that will say CDMA-S (Sprint), CDMA-V (Verizon) and GSM which will be either T-Mobile or AT&T (not sure of the codes after the GSM as I'm not familiar with those, but the person in electronics would (should) know if you ask).
So now you can have one of the best phones on the market, behind only the S4, on Verizon's network. I got this phone the day after the Black Friday sales, and it still rang up at the sale price of $299. I was prepared to pay the regular price of $399 so you can imagine my surprise and delight when it rang up at the sale price. So what if it only has 3G. I constantly hear people complaining about this fact, so they can either have their 4G LTE on Sprint and get no coverage, or have a contract and pay 3 times what I pay, or have one of the best phones out there with 3G and $45 a month for everything unlimited on the best network with no contract. The choice seems obvious to me. And I'm an ex-Verizon contract customer. Our bill was just too high. I'm happy to pay more for a phone with no contract.
Now, hopefully somebody can answer my question...would it be the same process to root this phone as the one on the Sprint network? Is there any possibility you could screw up your phone with no chance of recovery? I would like to root my phone but I do not want to be in a situation where I'm looking at my phone with a blank screen and no way to recover, or it won't turn on or it changes to Japanese...etc...you get what I'm asking. If there's any risk I'm not going to do it, it just wouldn't seem worth it to me. But if it's something that it works or doesn't and no in between then I would like to try it. Thank you for any advice.
Wow! Great advice

Wow! Top answer here. Too bad it was a complete fail for the straight talk version.

Note 2 pageplus go back to sprint

I have a note 2 (sprint bad esn) that I cannot get flashed to page plus.
I have had this phone on Verizon prepaid until it crapped out.
I then put it on boot mobile but could not get it to work
I then am now trying to get it on Page plus.
I have tried Wireless Workshop, manually doing it with CDMA and DFS, and have taken it to 2 different companies in my town to have it flahed. They cannot findout anything that is wrong with the phone and still cannot get it to properly flahsed.
So my options are Is there a way to get this thing flashed back to sprint. (stock data, mms, and voice) settings and re flash it to page plus or can i just take it back to a sprint store and they can do it for me?
thanks!
Chris
What's exactly wrong with it ? I've got mine flashed to Verizon prepaid but its basically the same as pageplus far as flashing
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the reply.
The company that flashed it was remotewirelesstech.com
They flashed it then about 2 months later it crapped out on me. I lost data then i lost voice/text a couple of weeks later.
I contacted them and they said that they will not reflash bc alot of ppl have hadthis happen to them in the past.
So I tried to flash to Boost. Got everything to work, then I got no data or voice.
I then tried to use wireless workshop to go to Pageplus but nothing would work.
Someone told me that Pageplus will not allow rooted phones, so I unrooted and went back to a stock rom 4.1.2.
I reflashed with wireless workshop and now when I try to call it askes to add money to the account.
But nothing works. I still have 2 dollars on my PP account.
I then took it to 2 different flashing companies around my area and they could not figure it out. (II think they both done just automated one click methods) but Ive even tried to get it to work with CDMA workshop and DFS to no avail.
If someone is up to it, I can donate paypal to get this thing flashed remotly. Im so desperate.
I paid almost 500 for this phone last march and now If I sell it, It will only get 300 out of it. But I love my Note II, and was thinkgin about buying the verizon model if I sell this one.
Any suggestions??
i can help
i can do a remote flash.... those 1 click methods dont work to well....i use dfs
pm me and we can set up something
