Wondering if all note 2 t889 devices will see LTE service once it drops in ones specific coverage area ,my phone has the fast.t-mobile.com apn configured, My question is will the icon show LTE once it is in my area or does the 4g icon just symbolize that your merely still on hspa+
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
As long as you have lte network mode turned on and on fast.tmobile.com, it will automatically detect lte and show 4G with lte letters underneath.

So I have the option, but no LTE letters in my system bar. Just means I don't have LTE in my area yet, correct?

Does anyone know of a road map that says when and where they plan on rolling out LTE coverage?

I was perusing the programming menus on my phone and happened to see one labeled LTE and it was set to disabled. What would happen if i enabled that setting? I know my msl and everything. An curious to know if it would pick up the Verizon lte network in my area
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You won't get Verizon's LTE if you have a Sprint Nexus.......
Leave it set to disabled, unless you are in one of Sprint's LTE cities. If not, your battery life could suffer.
Not even with roam
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
No.
You'll never be able to connect to Verizon's LTE.
Keep it disabled until you know it's in your area.
There are no roaming agreements with lte and unless say the FCC makes them there probably never will be

LTE Roaming
Furthermore, I'm pretty sure the Verizon LTE and the Sprint LTE are on different bandwidths... so I don't think that the phone was built to be able to roam on both LTE networks. I could be wrong though, I don't know enough about what is required for the radios to pick up the different frequencies.
I'm having trouble keeping a 4G signal with this phone. My galaxy s2 would stay on 4G in my area but this s3 is pretty much staying on a edge connection.
I know you could change the S2 to 4G only mode but I'm not seeing the option on the S3.
Any help? The 4G signal here is good. Idk why it keeps switching.

Try dialing *#*#4636#*#* then in device information set it to wcdma only.

Thanks, I tried that but it just keeps defaulting back to gsm auto. Am I missing something?
Edit: never mind I got it to stick. Thanks for your help!

There's a great app called network that takes you to that menu as well, a little more convenient than typing in that the numbers every time.
t-mobile sgs3 stock rom/rooted
That is normal. Try selecting one of the other options till it sticks.then select cdma only.

Hi there, please go to bell.ca/support and search apn settings, you will probably need to add Bells LTE settings to your phone.

Are you inside a building? Bell's LTE penetration is....enough said.
Did you get LTE with stock rom? If so it could be a setting in the rom somewhere. I also have troubles with LTE when in a building (if thats the case)
I've been outside a building and still don't get lte in the kitchener Guelph area where lte is supported I also changed the settings to gsm/lte but still never see 4G on the top

Just got the confirmation yesterday that Bell have issue with their LTE network.
Go on your network setting and select WCDMA ONLY if you are able...
This is what the tech told me for my LG and since yesterday got 1 drop connection and not 10 a day!!!

I'm on Virgin Mobile Canada (Bell) and was having issues getting 4G (LTE). I believe it was posted on the CM10 thread but I reposted this as someone else was asking the same thing, but if you can't get 4G working even with the correct APN, go to your dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*
This will take you to the phone testing menu. Tap Phone information, scroll down to the selectable list which may say CDMA or GSM/CDMA. Change that to LTE/GSM or LTE/GSM/CDMA and that should get it working again.
This worked for me on CM10, but AOKP should be close enough that this may help you out.
I'm on Att but the 9-8 build of aokp defaults to wcdma preferred on boot up..I know I live in an LTE area so what I did was *#*#4636#*#* then choose LTE only to force it into LTE coverage after that choose LTE/GSM/CDMA prl auto then or LTE should stick..for me if I chose LTE/GSM/CDMA first it would still default to wcdma...hope this helps...keep in mind you have to perform this after every reboot until its changed by task if it ever is in future builds.

Hmmm, that's interesting. On CM10, I don't need to change that on every reboot. Not even after a dirty flash. Just after a clean flash.
I had the same problem on rogers in Vancouver also running cm10 make sure you change your APN to the lte version also where it says APN type I put default. Another thing that may confuse you is that there is no lte icon on cm10 it says 4g instead

Also what might help is don't keep to many APN stored delete all except the lte and the lte tethering one. My phone was also switching to the regular APN on booting it up

Not getting LTE? Check your APN Settings
Hi Guys, if you are having issues with your LTE, check your APN Settings here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434995
I was reading this in a different place. I flashed the newest modem (ma4), which works well. I'm on prl 25010 but I believe the one mentioned was 25013. I show the 4g lte available but my phone has never connected. I was wondering if I have to update prl also to be able to connect to lte. Also heard the new airave (mine is on the way) broadcasts lte 800?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Airave doesn't broadcast lte I have one and it only does 3g sadly but if your not getting 4g lte when you are in an area where it is available then maybe you should go into settings then hit more settings then tap mobile networks and make sure you are on CDMA/LTE and if you already are toggle it back to CDMA reboot then change it back to CDMA/LTE and reboot again and see if you get LTE if no try updating your data profile since prl are associated with 3g internet and roaming only I believe it shouldn't matter but I would always update both just in case

I'll give that a try after work tomorrow

Actually, the PRL can enable and disable LTE, but I don't think there's a single PRL for the GS3 with LTE disabled. 800MHz 1x is a different story. Each new PRL since about 25006 or so has been gradually adding more 800MHz markets.
Also, even if an airave did broadcast LTE, what's the point if it's still using your home internet connection? You may as well just connect to WiFi. And as for LTE 800 on an airave, that's even more useless because the GS3 doesn't support 800MHz LTE, only 800MHz 1x.
I have 25012 now from last night.

I just was pushed 25012 as soon as I hit the lte area on my way home. Am going to try playing tomorrow seems I don't work. Wish me luck

No change for me still ****ty service
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Since 25012 I cannot connect to LTE now. Was working great on 25010.
It is probably a limiting PRL to reduce data traffic in certain areas for maintenance issues or Sprint released the wrong PRL like when I had an evo 3d a year ago.

I'm on 25012 and connect perfectly to LTE and getting great reception and signal.

Technically the PRL does not effect your normal cell service with sprint towers only if sprint releases a bad PRL. Now if sprint has a local roaming agreement with another cell site company it would affect your service. This is my understanding I maybe wrong.

I live 10 miles Northwest of Dallas my LTE goes in and out. I also barely get 3g at home. Im just in a bad cell tower area. Plus I have Verizon fios internet so my airave goes in and out too. So im screwed and have to use Wi-Fi.

Make sure you're in an lte area
Make sure your apn settings are correct and you have selected lte in the cell settings.
Also something to keep in mind you'll only get 4g speeds when it's needed aosp roms have a throttle built in to save battery.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I did all of that but what would I do to make my phone use LTE? My speeds are fast I just want to make sure I'm getting what I paid for.

LTE coverage
[LTE is not yet at 100% rollout status. I am getting LTE backhaul, which is what most of the US will end up doing. It will take time to be on the "backhaul" but have you checked to see if you are in an LTE coverage area? You can purchase an LTE plan, and it say you have basic LTE on your AT&T app, but that DOES NOTmean that you have it. Check with your local store. For whatever reason AT&T doesn't have most of the backhauled cities listed.
