If your bootloader is unlocked you don't need X-Parts, if it isn't and you've wiped data then yes, you need to flash a stock ftf, which is what you should have tried already, then start over and when you get back into CWM, flash your backup.

I am on Xperia Arc with unlocked bootloader, with CM 9.0 & CWM Recovery 5.
Before flashing to CM 9.0, I made full backup of my stock ROM through CWM Recovery.
Now I want to go back to my original firmware (i.e. 4.0.2.A.0.42).
When I try to restore backup from within CWM recovery, my phones is stuck at boot after free-xperia logo. Only black screen with nothing on it.
Someone please help me, how can I restore my backup of stock ROM.
i want my phone as it originally came....
plz help....
thanks in advance..

You must flash the compatible kernel for that firmware
Doomlord's kernel for stock rom for example.
As you mentioned, you already restored the GB stock rom; you only need the proper kernel now for it to boot properly.
FXP kernel works for CM only.

You must first flash .42 firmware and then install CWM or doomkernel(it comes with pre-installed CWM) and then perform the restore
tryed SEUS?
I also wanted to restore my GB Rom, but I got an md5 mismatch Gosh I hate when that happens

There is no need to relock the bootloader.Just flash the firmware and you'll get back to original kernel and the doomkernel well be gone

You may try to relock your bootloader, use SEUS to flash the phone. There's an option in SEUS that you can select and it will not wipe your data.
OR
Extract the kernel.sin from an ftf and flash it via fastboot, then you can return to your original kernel

What have you done before? Have you tried to install a custom rom? But that's no problem, first you've to reflash the firmware, by doing this:
Download flashtool (can be found in dev section)
Download the firmware .587 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24467321&postcount=1)
Install flashtool
Put the downloaded ftf file into the firmware folder of flashtool (C:\Flashtool\firmwares)
Then start flashtool, click at the flash button, choose the firmware, check "No final verification" and click on Ok
Follow the instructions
If the firmware have been successfully flashed, turn your phone on
Optional: Then you can root it again and install CWM if you want
When you've got a question, just post it :good:
can you please advice how do i update my firmware from .431 to .587?
one post above yours - there is a solution for intall .587

you flash this kernel for 587
Hello! I'm having a problem with my xperia arc S, I tried to install a ROM (ULTIMATE HD 3.1) but I didn't have the wifi modules, so my phone got stuck on boot, so I figured that I got a bootloop, and went to flash the kernel (562), root again again and flash the new kernel (587) to try and install the ROM again, but the phone didn't root, but I flashed the .587 kernel and can't flash it back to .562. I can't figure what's the problem the flashtool says it's flashed but in setting the "compilation number" just says that it has the new kernel.
So my problem is how can I flash back to .562 and root the phone? I already tried this a few times (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118343), but it dosen't work. what else can I do? Try with another kernel?
I also tried this, but it didn't work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711. I don't know if it helps but i have the bootloader locked.
Sorry if repost, google but didn't find anything related. thanks anyway.
Restore your phone using Sony Update Service, since you have locked bootloader.

If you cannot repair with Update Service, try PC Companion. It should offer the repair function.

Had a similar problem, caused by wrong kernel (at least i think so). Anyho, there was no "repair" option for me either.
What you should do is:
- Flash back to stock GB firmware (0.62)
- Root (using eRoot, it's a one click procedure.)
- Install CWM using RecoveryX is the simplest way i'd say
- Flash the kernel which Jared proposed (can't remember which one sorry)
- boot into CWM, and follow the instructions to install UltimadeHD rom. I'd suggest Tesla's instructions, they are fail-proof. Remember to click on "unlocked bootloader" if your bootloader is locked.

If bootloader locked, recover using Sony Update Service.
If bootloader unlocked, flash a stock ftf file with flashtool or flash a kernel with CWM using fastboot and flash a ROM in CWM recovery.

Yesterday I tried to flash a JB room into my xperia arc S. The installation had no problems, but after restarting, the phone didn't pass from the sony logo.
So, with the flashtool I flash the stock ICS again. And the phone is working again, but, now I can not flash any other room because the bootloader is lock.
Now, the phone says: "bootloader unlock allowed: no", and before, it had: "bootloader unlock: yes".
Before, I even had clockworkmod installed and I could flash anything with it, but now... Now, my phone does have the notification drawer anymore.
Does anyone knows how can I fix this?
Thanks for any help.
What ftf file did you flash? Did you exclude simlock.ta from the files?

I flashed( using clockworkmod ) this one first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380652, and the phone got stuck at the Sony Logo.
Then, using Flashtool, flashed this: "Lt18i_4.1.B.0.587_1254-8596_Generic_India.ftf" , then I even tried this: "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).ftf"
simlock.ta? No.
The problem now is that I can not go into clockworkmod anymore. I even had made a backup with clockworkmod , but now I can't restore it anymore.

Of course you cannot go into clockworkmod, flashing the ftf file will remove it from your phone. You need to flash a stock kernel with CWM or install X-Parts

You can always install X-Parts, it does not require unlocked bootloader.

Yes, but if the phone's bootloader is bloqued again, why install X-Parts to have clockworkmod , if I can not flash another rom?
You can still flash a ROM with X-Parts, just that it will be stock based, definitely not CM/AOKP/PAC.
