[Q] How to mod a rom???

soooo i wanna develop a rom myself dont know where to start so i thought maybe learn to add/tweak current roms out there
personally i love miui roms so i would prefer to work on those
so my question is after i make miui rom by using jason steins port how can i modify it?

if you have not done any work b4 a good place to start would be themeing,
_calum_ has a nice guide in the x10 forums

this would be a good place to start. if you can do this sort of stuff already then a good place to start is android general.

arc isnt supported...........
plus ive done that b4 i want to actually make a difference and help with coding and get to the base of android OS to see what functions (plz no binary LOL)

You are copy pasting from another topic.. Android development is a section for creativity, knowledge and skill.. Not for stealing /copying and posting someone else work..

As you're new, check out the links in signature.

Urn I am on stock Rom with modded theme and modded notification bar, after reading your link I have deodexed.....
Not sure what this means, but may well explain why some mods don't work.

Google is an excellent tool for finding answers to questions, and 99.9% of the time you'll find numerous answers as 99.9% of questions asked have been asked and answered already.

1. you could of searched around on Google
2. or on XDA

Has the dev of the rom you want to port given his permission?
I'm only asking, because I've seen in the "Atomic GB" thread, that you have written to port XtremeSilencer's rom without his permission. So he certainly will report you if you port w/o permission to mods!
Here is what I'm talking about!
If I'm completely wrong, just correct me!

yeah i know i asked the moderator to clean it !

yeah you should check on the threads of custom roms and the opinions of the testers do a little research friend

Two mistakes my friend:
Your thread is in a guides section, not in q&a.
Also, there's a purpose for that search button, use it. Or use web view. You can find all roms with one click there.

Best ROMS/kernels are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion,and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
