[Solved...]CM10.1- Slide across Notification Bar for Brightness - LG Optimus G (International)

EDIT: Yeah, so mods, feel free to delete this thread.
Hey all, I would like to find a way to be able to adjust screen brightness just by grabbing and holding the notification bar. Apparently this is the way TouchWiz does things (it used to be on my old phone, an LG p500 with I think CM 10.0, but it might have been in CM7.x).

I've seen several mods that require flashing in CWM, but I believe these are ROM/device dependant.
I've also seen a few apps that give similar functionality, but they just don't fit. Especially when we can have a Brightness toggle in the Quick Settings Panel.
Is there a way to mod this onto our phones? I've tried peeking into the flashable zip files from other places, but trying to parse everything that's going on there is well above my head. Even if someone can just point me in the right direction, that'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S.- Auto-brightness is disabled.

Question. What rom/task bar is this?

I always seen screen shots that have THIS task bar at the top there. What rom/task bar is that?
I'm wondering if its a specific rom for a certain phone or a bar that can be put on any phone. It's very clear, easy to see etc.

It could be a port, I might be wrong though but it might be another phone completely. I've never seen any Evo Rom with that notification bar.

It's the stock Android status bar pre-Gingerbread (Froyo, Eclair, Donut, etc.). The CM6 final (Froyo) ROM is the best ROM for that (but it wouldn't be too tough to replace the assets on any ROM).
I believe that is the default stock from google android taskbar on 2.2 and below
im unsure what rom would have that though
Edit: lol too slow...

[Q] Where did these icons in the notification bar come from? (photos)

I mean those wifi, bt, sound icons etc.
Looks like they are embedded in the notification bar. Is it a wedget? or a built-in feature of some third-party rom?
Thanks.

Well they aren't stock I can tell you that.
Most custom ROMs have a power widget like that.

You can install Notification Toggle where you are able to choose between different icon graphics.
Stock notification icons from CM10 I believe. You can change/disable them in settings.

No.. those are the built in Power Widgets from CM. There should be an option in the system settings to disable them if you dont like them. As well as customize them and change their order etc.

Modified Torch

For some day now I have been fooling around and learning how to modify APK files and such so I could finally fix the Torch app included with Wayland_Ace's CM10.1 for the Galaxy Ace.
I noticed that the Strobe Frequency Slider was being messed up by some of the margins and I also decided I would decompile the source and remove the options for High Brightness in the main app and the widget options because it does not work on the Galaxy Ace. After a few hours of setting everything up and fooling around with the source, I've managed to accomplish what I was going for.
This is what it looks like now:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Basically, I hid the high brightness option in the main app and removed the warning about it in the initial popup and the about view, because with the option removed you don't need to be warned. I also went into the source and XML and removed the high brightness option from the widget options. Finally, I fixed the margins on the strobe slider so it was no longer messed up, and I centered the light bulb better.

Simply boot into CWM and flash the file attached below. This was created from the Torch app from Wayland_Ace's CM10.1 ROM and has only been tested on his CM10.1 ROM on a Galaxy Ace. I doubt it will work for other devices. It's up to you if you want to try it and if you do, make a backup of your current Torch app just in case.

hello friends.
I want to remove the navigationbar. How can I remove it and what can I use instead?
ı use stock 4.2.2 root
Well there are a lot of options. You can make a permanent mod, or find a toggle that removes them (both of these exist). Then you could use something like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150 <-- that.
Then there is things like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys <-- that.

You could kill it with a build.prop edit. There are also likely apps to toggle it. Searching would likely net you results.
Remove it as in completely get rid of it so its no longer on your device? How do you plan on navigating after you remove it?

Question Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the huge space that is taken up by the clock when fully extending the notification panel?

I want to get rid of the huge space when fully extending the notification panel, so when I pull it all the way down, the brightness bar is around the center of the screen, does anyone know a way to do this, with or without root.

Try using Galaxy Goodlock family of apps,
Quickstar. See if it can hide it for you...
Try notifications settings, try searching for "clock" in settings.
Quickstar hides the clock on my homescreen page, they may have added more options for Android 11/12.
On my N10+'s Android 9/10...
I will try that. Thank you.

That looks horrible. Is that Android 12?
13 will likely be worse.
On 9/10 it uses the space much better...
This was modified using Quickstar for the custom colors.
If you want to quickly access brightness control you can use One Handed Operation plus, Quicktools to do so.
Sadly there was no option for this, it seems to be essentially color type changes you can make
