For some day now I have been fooling around and learning how to modify APK files and such so I could finally fix the Torch app included with Wayland_Ace's CM10.1 for the Galaxy Ace.
I noticed that the Strobe Frequency Slider was being messed up by some of the margins and I also decided I would decompile the source and remove the options for High Brightness in the main app and the widget options because it does not work on the Galaxy Ace. After a few hours of setting everything up and fooling around with the source, I've managed to accomplish what I was going for.
This is what it looks like now:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Basically, I hid the high brightness option in the main app and removed the warning about it in the initial popup and the about view, because with the option removed you don't need to be warned. I also went into the source and XML and removed the high brightness option from the widget options. Finally, I fixed the margins on the strobe slider so it was no longer messed up, and I centered the light bulb better.

Simply boot into CWM and flash the file attached below. This was created from the Torch app from Wayland_Ace's CM10.1 ROM and has only been tested on his CM10.1 ROM on a Galaxy Ace. I doubt it will work for other devices. It's up to you if you want to try it and if you do, make a backup of your current Torch app just in case.

I've changed the LCD density on my phone recently, and everything seems OK except for the HTC Sense 3 lockscreen, which doesn't seem to have scaled properly.

I was wondering if anyone here knew of anything I can do to get it to scale properly
Any help would be appreciated!
I think you would need to use the tools available to re jig the screen size for the lockscreen (M100 or whatever it is called), I had this problem with the "Lense" style on CM7 when i changed to 180

I've been searching around for tools like that, but can't find any! Searching for M100 doesn't come up with anything
I think its an M10 tool that requires a decent set of programming knowledge (or at least it did when I last heard of it)
I'm not sure at what point today this stopped working but whenever I hit the power button to turn my screen off now the screen just goes off. No more fancy tube TV effect.
Anyone know how I could go about re-enabling it?
I'm rooted running the most recent CM9 Kang rom. Let me know if you need anymore info.
Everything else is working fine.
Turning off window animations disables it.

Any chance you disabled it in the settings? I don't use CM9 but I know CM did have a feature with removal of that animation.
I thought I may have disabled it earlier so I looked all over for an option to enable and cannot find one.

EDIT: Yeah, so mods, feel free to delete this thread.
Hey all, I would like to find a way to be able to adjust screen brightness just by grabbing and holding the notification bar. Apparently this is the way TouchWiz does things (it used to be on my old phone, an LG p500 with I think CM 10.0, but it might have been in CM7.x).

I've seen several mods that require flashing in CWM, but I believe these are ROM/device dependant.
I've also seen a few apps that give similar functionality, but they just don't fit. Especially when we can have a Brightness toggle in the Quick Settings Panel.
Is there a way to mod this onto our phones? I've tried peeking into the flashable zip files from other places, but trying to parse everything that's going on there is well above my head. Even if someone can just point me in the right direction, that'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S.- Auto-brightness is disabled.

...#$%&. My bad lol.
Hi guys.,
I have seen the status bar quick peek feature in some of the JB ROM's (Like, Slim bean, illusion, etc).
I am talking about
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When the phone is in expanded desktop mode or while using a full screen app like temple run, etc...
with a quick swipe from the top edge of the screen we can access the status bar and next expand it to access the notification panel..(Useful to access the notifications, without closing the app currently running in full screen)
Can anybody tel me how to port this feature into any JB ROM ?
What are to be modified in order to get this feature ?
Kindly provide detail expalnation...
Thankyou in advance..:good:
I am attaching a iOS video just for the clear understanding,,
I didn't find any android video explaining about the status bar quick peek feature.

i actually wanted this build into the ROM..like this is already in-built to Slimbean, carbon, illusion, PAC, etc ROM's..
I want to get rid of the huge space when fully extending the notification panel, so when I pull it all the way down, the brightness bar is around the center of the screen, does anyone know a way to do this, with or without root.

Try using Galaxy Goodlock family of apps,
Quickstar. See if it can hide it for you...
Try notifications settings, try searching for "clock" in settings.
Quickstar hides the clock on my homescreen page, they may have added more options for Android 11/12.
On my N10+'s Android 9/10...
I will try that. Thank you.

That looks horrible. Is that Android 12?
13 will likely be worse.
On 9/10 it uses the space much better...
This was modified using Quickstar for the custom colors.
If you want to quickly access brightness control you can use One Handed Operation plus, Quicktools to do so.
Sadly there was no option for this, it seems to be essentially color type changes you can make
