i have a uvbm1 radio.
i used the *#2263# code to enable the 2100 wcdma frequency
i pressed add band preference -->than wcdma 2100 but nothing happens.
how can i enable this frequency?
thanks
Hey how'd you even get into that menu? What ROM are you on? I'm asking cuz I've been trying to get into the band adding menu for a long time... And also I've tried that cod win the dialer it does nothing. I'm on slimbean latest 4.2.2

yeah. i used the whitehawk's aokp for about a month, and only replaced it with the new uvmc6 jellybeast so that i can enable the 2100 freq.
I'm running Jedi Jelly with newest radio. But when I dial that code all I get is a black screen that says service on the top...

Make sure that option wasn't added to a menu instead. CM10.1 (4.2.2) has it under Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode and you can set "WCDMA Preferred" right out of the box. Your ROM may vary, but it's something to try.
maybe the modem i installed doesnt support wcdma 2100?
Figure it out?
Did anyone figure this one out?
I am from USA
but visiting Asia right now and I cannot get 3G to work for the life of me.
I've determined the 2100 MHz band is not enabled on this phone.

I have been Googling for guides on updating the Galaxy Nexus 3G frequency to 850mhz or at least check which frequency it's on. I turned up nothing.
Does anyone know how to do this (particularly anyone else who's on Telstra)?
what do you mean "enable 850mhz"?
You're only going to be able to use the frequencies your carrier uses. If they don't use 850mhz then you can't lol.
Cheers Marton. May have answered my own question though. Basically I noticed my phone was registering on Telstra's 2100mhz network (3Telstra) but the 850mhz network is superior. After going into "Settings | Wireless & networks - More | Mobile Networks | Network Operators" I was able to change to the "Telstra Mobile."
Now it's speedier than ever.
Try going to your dialer and dialing "*#*#4636#*#*". In the next menu select the option that reads "Phone information". Once in that menu hit the option button and choose "select radio band". There you will see "Aus" and "Aus2". I believe Aus2 will get you that second frequency you're trying to get.
Thanks - am getting faster speeds now but I can't tell if it actually is faster or whether it's just because it's later in the night and more people are off to bed.

What do you mean? They're talking about a GSM Nexus which didn't properly switch between 2100mhz and 850mhz.
The Verizon phone is CDMA and LTE on specific bands. You're not gonna change anything.

Hi guys I had to make a thread because I really don't know what's happening.
From stock I updated to the leaked ICS that came out in the spring. This is where I noticed I could not get lte.
I updated to cyanogen 9 and currently on 10.
I noticed that when I try changing networks from wcdma preferred to auto lte gsm it doesn't stick. It goes back to wcdma preferred even in *#*#4636#*#*... ohhh when I first flashed to the leaked ICS I had it set to wcdma preferred.
Why after I flash anything while on wcdma preferred It is unable to change or stick to any network? BTW even if I change it without exiting the screen I still can't get lte. Yes I'm in lte coverage and have the plan.
Please help thanks

Happened to me aswell, the only fix i could find is to go through the unbricking process to restore LTE connectivity, after that i changed my settings in *#*#4636#*#* and i lost LTE again. Only way i know of is to just do the unbricking process and flash whatever ROM you use, and avoid from changing the network settings via *#*#4636#*#*. Besides in cyanogen mod there is an option in the settings app to change networks and use 2g only. Changing network settings in settings app wont cause you to loose LTE once you change it back to the WCDMA/gsm mode in settings app again

I would try doing flashing a new basband/firmware and then doing a factory reset, if that doesnt help, then I would do the unbrick proccess. (takes about an hour)
Hi,
From the specs, the TMobile S3 supports 1900MHz 3G network.
Does anyone know for sure if the TMobile S3 work on their refarmed 3G (1900MHz) network?
If yes, how do you change from the current 3G freq to the refarmed freg?
Thanks.
They are in the orocess of refarming. Some places are done, some are not. The phone should automatically choose the best available band to use. There are ways to force it by using the service menus actvated by dialer code, but it's a hassle to mess with every time. Plus, on the T999 I don't think you will ever see it say 3G without a mod. So you coukd be using it but it woukd say H or still 4G because of the way its coded. (If I'm remembering right)

Yes, the Galaxy S3 does support 3G PCS(1900 Mhz). If you wanted to know what band you're using, just type *#0011# in the Phone app. In the first line, you will see something like "Band4" in the first line, which will tell you what band you're on. Band4 means AWS (1700/2100). Band2 means PCS (1900).
To force a certain band, type *#197328640# in the Phone app and then hit the following in the secret menus: [1]UTMS -> [1] DEBUG SCREEN -> [8]PHONE CONTROL -> [7]NETWORK CONTROL -> [2]BAND SELECTION.
It's "reframed" not "refarmed".

No its refarmed. Meaning that they were using it in the GSM system and had to carve it out for use in the UMTS system. Yes the Galaxy s3 will work on UMTS 1900. It is best though to let the phone decide as the carrier is using settings to best choose where you should be. For instance the single 1900 UMTS carrier wont be able to support HSPA 42+ until they add a 2nd 1900 Mhz carrier.

Will the phone know if a node is congested?
At my work place, my HTC Sensation 4G shows a "H" with good signal (4 bars). But the data speed is really slow, around 100kbps. My guess is that either the node is congested, or the current 3G signal is blocked by the building. My thinking is that if I switch to the new freg (when it is available), there will be less users and the signal will penetrate building better so my speed will improve.
Will the S3 save me in this situation, or my thinking is completely off?

You can actually jump right to the band selection screen with *#2263#
Hey guys, got a bit of a complicated question.
So I remember when I got my Galaxy Note 2 back in September I was getting LTE speeds well over 40 Mbps up/down. I've been using custom roms since day one and never really had any issues with LTE speeds (Though I do recall I would sometimes install a new ROM and my speeds would drop down to ~15 Mbps up/down, and I would just flash back to the original Rogers ROM and then flash whatever new ROM and I'd get my 40 Mbps back, but this wasn't always necessary).
Anyway, it's been several months now and I've noticed I can't get those high speeds anymore; I'm back down to 15 Mbps. I checked my LTE band preferences using the dialercode *#2263# and I noticed the only usable band I have now is Band 4 (1700 MHz). I can switch to Band 17 (700 MHz) but Rogers doesn't support that. What's really weird is that I can't select Band 7 (2600 MHz) which I've read is Roger's faster LTE network (I am theorizing this is what gave me the 40+ Mbps connection).
If I remember correctly, the I317m supports 700/1700/2600/others, so I don't think this should be happening. I should still be able to select Band 7. I can tap that Band 7 option as much as I can but it does not change anything on the phone, whereas selecting Band 4 or Band 17 will switch the bands.
I don't suppose this has anything to do with my modem as it's occurred on both I317MVLALJ2 and I317MVLBMA3 modems. I'm using CleanROM 4.9 but I don't think this should be an issue. I've also had the same issue on other TW roms as well as CM based ROMs like Paranoid, Vanilla RootBox, and others.
Does anyone have any insight on this issue? It's really bugging me that I can't select Band 7. Maybe it was disabled by Rogers on their side but it shouldn't have blocked it on my phone. Let me know if you guys have had any similar problems or if your data speeds have also slowed down since you first got the phone.
APN setting ???
Perhaps it has changed from the carrier...
For example...I can choose ATT phone...and be limited to sub-LTE speeds....regardless of network switch settings..
But when choosing our ATT pta setting...LTE jumpes to max network speed...
These APN entries are separate from any onboard network switch.....and are largely ignored by a modem that contains the proper RIL's...
Just a thought here....as I'm on a different carrier......g

Thanks for the insight guys. I should have mentioned that I did try other APNs. I know that Rogers has another APN rogers-core-appl1.apn, which I tried earlier. Unfortunately, I was only able to get 3G/H+ with that APN.
PTA is the LTE APN that is defaulted in the stock UCAMA4 or UCAMC3 builds using those respective modems..
It is also found in CM 10.1 under APN settings. ..
Note...you must be using the stock modems listed above. ..even if you have already selected the proper APN..
Users on networks other than ATT, using this device. ..will not see the higher speeds as they are indigenous to the ATT network. ..g
I've seen several discussions about this but didn't seem to find a working solution. I'm currently using GNF1 V3 NB4, I tried using the apn settings for at&t and also called them to make sure they have the correct imei number. Also, for some reason under the "Network mode" I don't have an LTE option, I only have WCDMA/GSM, GSM ONLY AND WCDMA ONLY. I am able to get 4G but no LTE. Is there any solution or any other way to solve this problem?

Change ro.product.name= in the build.prop to say jfltetmo
will it also change the speed or just add an "LTE" symbol?
Give you the LTE option in network modes and change the icon. Speeds? Probably since youll have LTE back

ok, i have the LTE option in "network modes" now, however the speed is more or less the same and I don't have LTE bar, not sure whether it's because of my current location or what.. is there anything else I could edit to try to make it work?
If I change the ro.product.model , name and device to at&t values would I get the LTE speeds just like an at&t s4?

When I bought this phone from T-Mobile I was still on an AT&T plan. Before I jumped ship over to Net10 Wireless I used AT&T's LTE all over Pensacola. That was on a sim-unlocked, unrooted, otherwise 100% stock M919. Did you double-check your APN's? Perhaps you're just not in an area where you can pick up LTE?
Yes I use the correct apns the ones that at&t gave me, but im gonna try to go back to stock then change the apns to at&t and maybe that will work.. but even if it will, I don't know if I could keep using GNF1 or would I have to use a different rom, anybody else have or had issues with getting LTE on at&t while using custom roms and knows roms that work? (Preferably tw)
See your network type in settings > about phone > status. Try to get LTE with your AT&T SIM on another phone then install it back to your M919.
