Tired of slow sprint and tmo is only other unlimited peeps - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So does the tmo gs3 have the premium suite aka multi window?
Or should I just get the gn2

No, but custom ROMs do
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium

None of the US S3's have official Multi-window. The mod is for roms with 4.1.2 and there are some roms with 4.1.2

Actually I believe sprint, verizon and US cellular has the 4.1.2 update for their s3's. Honestly I found that multi Window is only useful when taking notes from the web or you cant copy n paste something to use in other app. But yeah to get multi window you would have to flash a custom rom. We have some good ones with multi Window. Tmobile probably wont give our s3 4.1.2, they just gave it to the s2 though, but we will be getting 4.2 after release of the s4 which is when 4.2 touchwiz will be officially released. Also will be getting 5.0 when that comes out.

is tmo generally only good in cities? Is coverage better than sprint?

Depends, I live in Scottsdale, AZ (basically Phoenix) and my signal fluctuates all over the place. If I'm outside I usually always have 3-4bars or 95ish dBm of HSPA getting 15-20ish mbps. As soon as I get inside a building signal goes to 2ish bars, sometimes to edge. It really varies where I'm at. I have friends in the same exact spot as me and we do a speed test, and they are about 8mbps below me on average, so I'm going to strongly say T-Mobile is better, where I live and hang out at.

Just look at their little map if they cover your city, generally they don't cover a lot of rural areas.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

check the map and look up your area. Tmobile covers most of the U.S. and major cities. Im using straight talk, using tmobile signal towers and sim, live in Miami, and almost always have full bars, rarely ever been under 4 bars. Also get 14-16 mbps average, always getting hspa+ even in moving car/bus. Would highly recommend tmobile if in well populated area.

I used to work at sprint and their service is spotty at best. Their lte is a joke and has no building penetration whatsoever. The fact that I couldn't stream music while working out was the kicker and I went back to good service...tmobile! I was getting free service with sprint and still hated it.

Question for those who live on Puerto Rico and have a E4GT.

What modem works best here,my phone lately doesn't even open facebook,it was slow when i got it on February, but in my house it open facebook, and pages well not at blazing speeds but it loaded them..
Close to a month ago the news hit that Sprint was moving to LTE,there were a few days were a ton of people have no reception at all,and it was say by sprint that it was do to sprint moving to LTE.
Since that my E4GT doesn't want to open pages, the signal is very bad drop call all the time, and even start roaming in my house when it did not do that before,i live in Carolina close the Campo Rico so i know there is signal here there was before.
Do you think it will get better with another modem.?

My friend the only thing i can say is that sprint does not work in PR. I recently had my family vacation on the island that i haven't visited in five years and i definitely can say that there no signal or 3g or 4g and i tried EVERY SINGLE MODEM no dice, its just a horrible experience if u ask me. The only company that works very good to our standards it's att it evens has a very good 4g signal. So is either att or try to feed you're phone with a LOT of wifi.

Is some parts of Barrio Obrero i got,and in 2 other places near Trujillo, other than that no were else,it is true that Sprint charge you $10 for 4G.? Because i read an article in spanish which was publish on April this year about that.
It attack sprint horrible networks and services, and actually claimed that they sold phones for an almost non existent 4G wimax network, and that people were paying $10 for a 4G they where not getting to use i wonder if this is true, because i will put such a fight on sprint store...Either they move me to an LTE phone or i am gone.

No LTE in An LTE Area

I'm on Sprint and I am using Toroplus. Well I have to drive a few streets down the block to get LTE. Well in my house I'm not getting any LTE. When I reboot my phone it shows that I have 4G 2 bars for about 10 seconds until being thrown off ****ty 3G Connection. In the sprint Coverage map it shows that my area has 4G LTE (Zip Code is 78223 in case you want to check)
I am running A jellybean ROM. Using FG01.

And with that attitude I don't think you'll get any.
Its normal for it to do that. It detects 3G being stronger and switches. You have to put it in LTE only mode. Its a dialer code. Or you can you a JB ROM that has that option like cm10 or CNA.

man I wish I could help I live just outside a lte area (san antonio), the day they rolled out lte there I was driving through visiting family. I went from full on lte to 3g to low lte to 3g to just 3g btw I was all over san antonio. I wasn't impressed. That being said I would love to even have lte anytime to fully use my gnex.
I hope someone can help you out with your problem. At the time I was running a ics rom so I haven't even tried one with jb.

I guess all I can say is just because a coverage map says you have service doesn't mean you will. There are a lot of places that I've seen have coverage according to the map (back when I had Sprint and now T-Mobile) that just don't fulfill that promise. There are so many factors that come into play in the real world when getting a signal that just can't be represented by a coverage map.
Not to mention that Sprint's LTE network is extremely new and hardly rolled out to full strength.

Got 4G LTE again, let's hope it stays this time.. my thought would be that Sprint currently has workers working in the towers. Because now I have an average of 2-3 Bars of 4G. 30 minutes ago when I had 4G I had 1-2 bars of 4G.

Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on T-Mobile's HSPA+ Refarm Speeds Inside!

Well, after getting tired of AT&T Data Throttling me to Edge speeds, And knowing that coverage is not 100% in my area, I went ahead and got the 69.99 Monthly Unlimited Everything Plan from T-Mobile ( I Was on ATT's Grandfathered in Unlimited plan etc cost around $120-130 Month) Now I'ts just $69.99.
Here are the results Keep in mind speeds will improve as coverage does as well. It's very sensitive at the moment if I move a few feet away signals lower and speeds vary depending on where I'm standing And in Certain parts of my house I have Edge, But if I move towards the bedrooms or living room it just picks up HSPA+ (Yeah it's funny how 20-50 feet make a huge difference) but it's very encouraging to say the least I expect when it's fully re farmed to be getting 15-20mbps down!
And without further a due here they are!

You won't get 20mbps down. It's too close to the Note II's theoretical peak 21mbps HSPA+. 15mbps may be possible though.

Well I'm just touching 12mbps now, I'll keep testing this as time goes on and network improves and see where I end up. However like AT&T is worthless now I was getting 3-4 and now I'm getting constant 9-12mbps at half the price And no throttling.

That sounds good. I live in NYC and I am thinking about pulling the trigger on the international version. But I am not sure that I could live with 2G service most of the time. If it were a little bit of H+ and then 3G the rest of the time, I think I could live with it.
In any case, i'm gonna wait and see what price I can get the T-mobile version for.

The Int'l Note 2 does not support 1700mhz AWS, correct. T-Mobile is, however, in the process of moving their HSPA+ service off of 1700mhz AWS over to 1900mhz instead so that they can use the (soon to be) old 1700mhz AWS band for LTE service.

However that same area is not yet re-farmed. So I'm returning the t-Mobile branded version and keeping my N7100 I Just had to compare both devices

T-Mobile....meh..
I was a long time customer of T-mobile, had the HTC Amaze 4G and Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile.
Saw speeds up to 15-17mbps in some very few parts, but the thing was.... it loaded pages and generally felt slower browsing and using the web than my friend's equivalent S2 on ATT and he only saw 3-5mbps in probably 90 percent of the locations we went to. Something was up with that...
When T-mobile is fast...it's very fast (which is very rare), but when it's slow, it's VEEEEERRRRY SLOW which was most all places.
Anyways, I'm very happy with my international GT-N7100 on ATT's HSPA.

T-Mobile and My Experiences

So I have the S4 now and I've been complaining to T-Mobile about the poor download speeds in neighborhood in Brooklyn, NYC as if I live in the boondocks. I finally got a response from T-Mobile saying that oh well it looks like there isn't enough bandwidth in your area and there's nothing you can do. Which is ironic considering the slew of ads they have bashing AT&Ts bandwidth and bragging how great they are (BS). See attached for the wonderful LTE speeds I get. And it's all the time as you can see, not based on time and the network being clogged up. I work in midtown Manhattan where between 10AM and 6PM the network is barely useable to which they said "well a lot of people are probably on it".
I'm surprised they didn't tell me to move somewhere else.
Basically I'm getting tired of all the LTE posts I'm seeing on here

Is Brooklyn even one of the officially supported areas? Or is LTE on but not officially?
Even since they started rolling out LTE in my area my 4g has gone to crap. I get mostly the same speed as the OP now when I used to get 8mbps prior to LTE roll out. It happened at home and now its happening at my work. I really hate it cause inside my work I dont get LTE and just get 4g. And at home I get LTE a block a way but no LTE where my house is so I'm stuck with the new slower 4g.
Man. Those speeds you posted were faster than I usually used to get with Sprint. In the Chicago area, my last three T-Mobile tests are:
5644 kbps / 1590 kbps
7183 kbps / 1074 kbps
8036 kbps / 6006 kbps (LTE in moving train)
14983 kbps / 12024 kbps (LTE stable)
Not bad.

I have the HTC One on AT&T and SGS4 on TMO. I've found outside of AT&T's LTE area TMO being faster, but not always. AT&T seems more consistant everywhere I go, TMO, there's either drop to edte, no service, or killler speeds. I have not hate to either carriers, nor a fanboi of any of them nor any device.
Long story on why I have both, basically had to do with credits owned me on TMO and sales of older devices I had right out.

I don't think you get the point I was making, I could see being mad if LTE was out for a few years and your being told you should have it on Tmobile but it's just starting literally. This has nothing to do with att and their coverage but I've had att and Verizon in the past and no Cell carrier can promise perfect coverage.

With the ads that T-Mobile is paying ETF's and seeing I can get the Note 3 for $0 down and that it's rootable with Odin and CF Auto Root, and there are even ROMS (although I didn't really look through them yet), AND T-Mobile has 4G here, would I miss anything from US Cellular?

I am also in the Tampa area (live in Wesley Chapel and work by the airport). I recently left Sprint and am loving the service so far. Both give me great signal in my house, but the key area is my job. With Sprint, i barely got a signal at my job and my battery would be lucky to last by lunch with my Note 2. With my Note 3 on Tmo Im getting great signal at my job (switches between 4g and 4g LTE). Im also getting calls with Tmo where there were times when my wife called on my Sprint phone, it would go to VM.
The only concern I have is that Sprint is supposed to launch their new network in my area and its supposed ot be better at building penetration. My wife and I have been with Sprint over 10 years and think we have found a new home with Tmo

I live in Orlando (lots of floridians in here lol) and I have awesome signal in the entire central Florida area, also in Puerto Rico when I went last year if that helps lol

I was in Orlando this weekend (usually go up there with my wife one a month or so). I noticed the coverage was great! My wife and I had signal in places where our Sprint phone didnt. Since we are testing it out during the return period, we were able to do side by side comparisons and the Tmo phone did better every time where we were up there.
I'm in the Orlando area, I'm happy with my T-Mobile service and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm also in Orlando and coming from Sprint I've seen a dramatic difference in coverage and network speed when I jumped to T-Mobile. Sprint was robbing me!

For the 8+ years I've been with T Mobile it's been good so far. Some areas I do have signal issues but with Wifi calling it's not an issue. Each carrier have their pros and cons. For me T Mobile suit my needs and for a very good price.
